Tom Graves Inherits Lynn Westmoreland’s Seat On Powerful House Panel
Congressman Tom Graves (R-GA-14) will be inheriting soon-to-be-retiring Congressman Lynn Westmoreland’s coveted seat on the House Republican Steering Committee. The 35-member panel determines the committee chairmanships for the US House. A statement by Congressman Graves via the AJC:
“I’m grateful to Lynn Westmoreland for his friendship and leadership, and I intend to be a strong voice for Georgia and the region just as he has been for many years,” Graves said in a statement provided to the AJC. “This is an exciting time to be a Republican, and I will work to steer our conference in the direction of bold conservative ideas.”
Congressman Graves was unanimously elected and represents Region 8 which includes Georgia, Alabama, and South Carolina.

I guess even a common grifter can get religion. Graves is staking out a very nice legislative career. Unlike so many others who came in 2010 he seems more comfortable dealing with the nuts and bolts of politics than lights and cameras. That’s a clear path to leadership or a try for higher office.
