State Rep. Tom Rice Won’t Seek Re-Election
House District 95 Representative Tom Rice of Gwinnett County says he will not seek re-election to the House after serving ten terms. In a statement, the chairman of the Motor Vehicles Committee said,
I have been privileged to serve the legislative needs of the citizens of Peachtree Corners, Berkeley Lake, Norcross and parts of John’s Creek since 1997,” said. Rep. Rice. “During my time in the Georgia House I am glad to have been a part of the historic change in leadership that has allowed us to maximize the chance to improve the quality of life for our citizens. My retirement will provide opportunity for a new generation of leaders to bring their ideas for an improved state government to prominence.
In addition to his work as Chairman of the Motor Vehicles Committee, Rice serves on the Appropriations Subcommittee on Higher Education and the Rules and Ways & Means committees.
Following his retirement from the House, Rice plans to work on ministry opportunities at Peachtree Corners Baptist Church. Quoting Ecclesiastes 3:1 Chairman Rice said, “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the sun,” Rep. Rice said he looks forward to the next season.
