Kasich Picks Up Georgia Endorsements
Ahead of Saturday’s South Carolina primary, Ohio Governor John Kasich picked up the endorsement of several Georgia lawmakers. State Senator Chuck Hufstetler, State Representative Tom Taylor, and State Representative Wendell Willard are joining the Kasich leadership team.
In a press release, Rome Sen. Hufstetler said,
I am proud and excited to support Gov. John Kasich. His proven leadership of balancing the budget, cutting taxes, and reining in government spending is exactly what our country needs. I look forward to working with the rest of the team to convey his message of conservative solutions to Georgia voters.
Taylor, who represents Dunwoody said,
There is one clear choice in this election – and it is Gov. John Kasich. I am proud to stand behind his proven record and his efforts to expand opportunity for all Americans.
Sandy Springs Rep. Wendell Willard said,
I hear everyday from folks in Cobb County that they are frustrated by gridlock in Washington. I trust Gov. Kasich as someone who is listening and ready to advance real, commonsense solutions to get our economy moving again. I look forward to spreading his message in Georgia.
Gov. Kasich was appreciative of their support:
I am honored to be endorsed by these conservative leaders in the Georgia General Assembly. As our momentum grows, Senator Hufstetler, Representative Taylor, and Representative Willard will be an important asset to our team. I am thankful to have their support.

Now we know Kasich has at least three votes in Georgia.
Four. His sister and brother-in-law live in Hahira.
His brother-in-law doesn’t like him.
Most democrats say Kasich is their favorite republican so maybe he gets a few cross-over votes also.
If I thought he had a snowball’s chance, I’d vote for him in the primary. He seems rather level-headed and prone to thoughtful consideration before speaking, unlike one or two of his Republican opponents.
Kasich lost me when he used religion to justify Medicaid expansion. Later I found I disagreed with him on a bunch of other issues.
Dumbest thing a voter could ever say.
What is?
Remind me who Kasich is and what’s he running for again?
I’m still not sure how to pronounce it.

I see it’s just a clip from press release, but Willard’s quote is odd considering his district doesn’t include any part of Cobb County. Dunwoody’s Senator Millar is also on Team Kasich. Rusty Paul, the mayor of Sandy Springs, is also an endorser and I believe Kasich is soon making a campaign stop at Sandy Springs City Hall. Sandy Springs-Dunwoody is very much filled with Kasich type Republicans which is why I found it so funny last year when conservatives would threaten Willard with a “tea party” challenger for being one of the primary powers holding up last year’s religious freedom legislation.
