Zell Miller was in the audience Wednesday evening as his beloved Young Harris Mountain Lions basketball team moved into a first place tie in the Peach Belt Conference with a 90-80 win over the Georgia Southwestern Hurricanes.
Unfortunately the former Senator and Governor didn’t fair as well because of a tumble he took during the proceedings.
As reported by Jim Galloway of the AJC:
The family of Zell Miller, who will turn 84 next week, sends word that the former governor took a fall while at a Young Harris College basketball game on Wednesday, fracturing his right hip and right shoulder. The following just arrived from one of his grandsons, Bryan Miller:
“On Wednesday, February 17, former Governor Zell Miller fell while attending a basketball game at Young Harris College. He was taken to a nearby hospital where doctors determined that Governor Miller fractured his right hip and right shoulder. Today, Governor Miller underwent a successful surgery to fix his hip without having a hip-replacement. Doctors are happy with his progress and believe Governor Miller will make a full recovery.”
“The family appreciates the outpouring of support they have received. Governor Miller is in good spirits and resting comfortably. The family asks that you keep Gov. and Mrs. Miller in your thoughts and prayers. Governor Miller will turn 84 on February 24, 2016.”
Speculation is rampant as to how long before the former Marine is in charge of the entire hospital or at least his own medical team
