Morning Reads for Super Tuesday SEC Primary-A-Go-Go (AKA March 1, 2016)
Hey! It’s Super Tuesday! Did you vote? Make sure you tell all your Facebook friends to be sure to vote – they probably have no idea it’s Election Day.
In honor of Super Tuesday, match the Hamilton lyric with the presidential candidate (answers are at the bottom, like in Highlights Magazine).
A: “You disgust me.” … “Ah, so you’ve discussed me? I’m a trust fund baby – you can trust me!”
B: “I am just a guy in the public eye, tryin’ to do my best for our republic, I don’t wanna fight, but I won’t apologize for doing what’s right.” (Alternate lyric, except I like this candidate too much: “Well, he’s gonna lose, that’s just defeatist.”)
C: “An immigrant you know and love who’s unafraid to step in!”
D: “Handsome, boy, does he know it! Peach fuzz, and he can’t even grow it!”
E: “And they say I’m a Francophile: at least they know I know where France is!”
F: “Our poorest citizens, our farmers, live ration to ration as Wall Street robs ‘em blind in search of chips to cash in.”
Now, the rest of the Reads:
- Quiddich, the GOP, and Marco Rubio. Really.
- DNA evidence exonerated this man, but he’s still behind bars.
- Planned Parenthood closes its Augusta clinic.
- There’s always money in the (Savannah) Banana stand!
- Trump’s candidacy is 30 years in the making.
- Watch the CNN closed caption transcriber throw up his/her hands in anguish (as did we all) during last week’s debate.
Yesterday was crossover day, and most any bill of note that made it through – or died – was already covered here. So, pour yourself a second cup of coffee and take a moment to scroll through the past few pages of posts. I promise, it’s worth your while. Oh, and be sure to vote – and by all means, talk about Super Tuesday in the comments.
A: Trump B: Kasich C: Cruz D: Rubio E: Clinton F: Sanders

Is today voting day?
P.S. The David Brooks article on Trump Candidacy-30 Years in the Making was a great piece. Thanks for that. I wish everyone had read it four months ago.
Thanks! Credit for that article goes to my husband. You haven’t met him yet, you haven’t had the chance, ’cause he’s been kicking *ss as the Ambassador to France (except not really – he works downtown).
But as for that piece – which maybe should be required for every voter today – someone’s gotta keep the American promise! And in this case, it’s Everyone’s Favorite RINO, David Brooks.
I’m not gonna throw away my shot, so I say:
A: Trump
B: Kasich
C: Cruz
D: Rubio
E: Hillary
F: Bernie
I got so excited for the quiz I didn’t realize you gave us the answers at the bottom. Oh well.
It’s okay! I know what it’s like to get a little excited and shoot off at the mouth. But I commend you for not throwing away your shot! And you got them all right, so you should be satisfied.
I will never be satisfied, God, I hope you’re satisfied.
Hey Charlie,
When viewing this site on mobile, the comment nesting gets a bit out of hand and starts displaying a single character per line (or none at all), e.g. the Trump support thread.
I don’t know if this’ll help, but something to look at to make the site more mobile-friendly:

1: Clinton
2: Cruz
Well played.
Another great line for Kasich that I didn’t have the heart to use because I really like the guy and – real talk – he got my vote because for this primary, I felt my vote was put to better use on the R ballot is, “AND PEGGY!”
I’m tempted to pull an R ballot and vote for Kasich but it seems like a complete waste. If I crossed over and voted for either Cruz or Rubio I couldn’t live with myself if they went on to win.
Vote for Kasich then. It’s not a waste. It’s a vote not for Trump.
I did the same thing. Was walking to the polling place and thought “which one of my losing votes will make the most impact”. Sanders isn’t playing in the south and frankly as a Democratic-leaning centrist, I’d rather see Kasich over Hillary.
Do you hear that Republicans??? IF YOU NOMINATE JOHN KASICH, YOU WILL WIN THE PRESIDENCY.
The silent majority needs to speak up every once in a while.
I said this early and often, and most laugh at me.
The GOP already tried Kasich, his name was Romney, 2012; McCain 2008, W 2004 & 2000, Dole 1996, HW 1992 & 1988. Of those elections, the GOP won the popular vote twice, 2004 & 1988.
First HW would of been re-elected had the election taking place a few months latter. Clinton took credit for the work he did bringing us out of slow down. Like a good joke timing is everything….. I also think HW was an excellent foreign policy president unlike his son. I also think Newt and GOP leaders attacking Romney for being a successful business did not help. BTW you made the point how ridiculous this attack is on Trump as well by the GOP leaders. If you do not like his policies, statements…… fair game, but by any measure Trump is a very smart businessman. Watching politicians who made their money of tax payers attacking Trump via business is even more bizarre. You know I made the same defense Sen Purdue, Romney…..when they ran The Dole and McCain was just a mess…..
@John: Don’t forget Perot…
Good point!
Well Trump isn’t getting my vote in any case. And the R primary is (mostly) winner take all, so unless a Kasich were to win it’s a waste. But like you said, a vote for Bernie doesn’t do much either, except the D primary is mostly proportional, so he would likely get some delegates. I might have just talked myself back into a Bernie vote.
B,
You are a proud liberal democrat who is very smart. We have had our differences on issues through the years, but I have always respected your opinion. If you do vote for Bernie, I would say your are voicing what you really believe. If you vote for Kasich, you are supporting pragmatic leadership, that you will not agree with more times than not. As the famous philosopher Mick Jagger said “you cant always get what you want, but if you try sometimes you get what you need”. 🙂
And the sage duo Captain and Tennille opined,
“Muskrat Susie, muskrat Sam
Do the jitterbug out in muskrat land
And they shimmy
And Sammy’s so skinny”
It’s going to be that kind of day, I fear…
Lol….you must be old like me?
I hear ya with regards to the proportional aspects of the primary votes, but then I think about super delegates and hang my head. Deep down my only hope for Bernie doing well is that it sparks another wave of Biden pleading, of which I’m 100% on board with. Yet alas, I think this deck is stacked.
Even if Kasich doesn’t pull a single delegate, his rising numbers heading into 3/15 would force the news outlets to give him coverage. And just MAYBE people get tired of hearing about the Donald. Media loves (need$) the clicks and ratings. I never thought I’d wish more people would just tune back into the Kardashians but I think I’m finally to that point.
Oh well, happy voting and get that peach sticker!
“the R primary is (mostly) winner take all”
Mostly, but in a nomination race where a few delegates might prove vital it’s important for Cruz and Rubio to cross the 20-percent threshold.

I heard this on the news today while working out in the morning. In multiple polls after all the hits on Trump he went up in the polls HUH?
Heard this on WABE this morning and had to look it up to make sure I didn’t hear it wrong:
Sen. Tommie Williams, REPUBLICAN, Lyons, does not mince his words. He just picked up a new fan in me. http://news.wabe.org/post/ga-senate-approves-drivers-license-bill-deferred-action-immigrants
“My hope is that, when the party implodes, the people picking up the pieces are the sane ones.”
That is what probably will happen. The ones guilty of destroying the party are merely bomb-throwers and arsonists. Their capabilities are restricted to demolition and destruction of things.
The folks that care about the rebuilding and renewal will be the sane ones. Too bad they let the demo guys into the tent to begin with.
ACP, How about the silent protestor at Hillary’s event this past week. Was she tossed for ‘being black’?
Works both ways.
I hope one of the front pagers is working up a piece on bills that did or did not cross, or bills that come out of the blue to make it to the other side of the rotunda…
After the NASCAR endorsements yesterday I give you this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vuAUI_0knfk Insert your candidate of choice in the we are going to win this race. Does is concern some of you that the Senators or not getting many endorsements from Senators? Oh the lies being spread at the rallies on everbodies side.
Cast my ballot for the Trumpster!! Can’t wait to see tonight’s returns!
This is the metaphorical message Trump will have for Rubio and Cruz tonight!

Carson: “Started retreatin’ and readin’ ev’ry treatise on the shelf.”
OMG, I genuinely forgot about Carson. Bless his heart. His lyric is James Madison’s pleading, “Please?”
“…I genuinely forgot about Carson…”
That’s quite easy to do.
More validation that Fox News doesn’t vett their “analysts” . I once did some contract work for the CIA myself. (A short-term programming stint for the Culinary Institute of America.) I have tax records to prove it as well which is a more valid claim than this guy:

Republicans have to wean themselves from allowing entertainers to influence their planks and policies.
