Morning Reads for Tuesday, May 24, 2016
Good morning! It’s primary day! Again! This time, it’s the general primary, not the presidential primary, so please don’t start drafting an irate Facebook post when you realize that Trump’s not on the ballot. Or, do start drafting it, please – it’ll be a handy identifier as we continue to hurtle headfirst towards November.
- This summer, join George Will in cracking open a cold can of America. Or not – Will prefers craft brewers.
- From the column: Budweiser is the “king of beers” — we know it is because Budweiser says it is — but will not be saying so during this advertising campaign. The slogan will be replaced by “E Pluribus Unum.” This is Latin for “Perhaps a gusher of patriotic kitsch will stanch the leakage of our market share to pestilential craft breweries.”
- Local governments are struggling to fill high-level positions. And many of these vacancies, like Cobb’s vacant clerk position, or DeKalb’s vacant police chief position, mean that residents are the real losers.
- Baywatch actress takes a stand for Savannah.
- “Sketchy” stuff happening in a north Fulton Senate race.
- SCOTUS determines that a man on Georgia’s Death Row did not receive a fair trial; he’ll likely get a new trial.
- Don’t use your hazards when you’re driving. Really. Especially not when it’s raining. No lie, cut it out. The police said so.
- Chinese officials have removed crosses from between 1,200 to 1,700 Christian churches.
- Alexander Hamilton has a message for you (by way of Joe Scarborough, so YMMV).

That’s the fourth link up there!
Agree with PD about inappropriate use of flashers while driving. Equally bad are drivers that don’t turn on headlights in the rain or use only “parking lights” while driving in rain.
Let’s not forget those who drive the speed limit in the left lane! That’s maddening!
This has got to be the most ironic thing I’ve seen in a while:
Ken Starr fired for failing to investigate sexual assault.

Now that insurance companies in the exchange program see that Obamas sneak plan to fully subsidize their losses with taxpayer funds might not fly and BO is outta here, get braced for 2017 rates.

In other news the KKK has ordered 1,700 crosses from China at fire sale prices.
“…a craft brewer ships no more than 6 million barrels a year; Budweiser shipped 16 million in 2013, down from 50 million in 1988…”
So does this mean if
‘MuricaBudweiser keeps dropping they could become a craft brewer? Has anyone told Joe Frank? How are the waters in Cartersville these days anyway?
