Morning Reads — June 30
If you crush a marshmallow bunny, it looks like Kim Jung-Un. Anyway, Jessica is moving and is not able to do the Morning Reads. I’m filling in. Let’s get down to business.
Jawja
- “Several plastic one-gallon vodka bottles were found on the ground, deputies said, while black power rifles, shotguns and pistols were found in the house.” Need I quote more?
- 5 hurt in a Newnan aluminum plant explosion.
- Life motto: Never follow in Louisiana’s footsteps, especially when it involves healthcare.
- Jawja is the fifth most patriotic state.
- Another week, another alligator story.
Murica
- #DumpTrump is dividing the GOP–and division is a totally new concept within the GOP, of course.
- Hillary Clinton eyes an opening in North Carolina.
- Turkey and ISIS run towards full-out war, which could change Obama’s strategy.
- Your echo chamber just became louder.

If a member of the Electoral College can vote however they want then why can’t a delegate to a party convention do the same? Especially when the candidate they are bound to is up against 4 to 1 odds.
In that gop-is-divided story there’s mention of ‘millions of Democrats’ who voted for Trump in the primaries.
Is there any indication that’s true, and if it is, what are the states where dems put Trump over the top? I doubt that it’s true myself, mainly because sites like redstate and breitbart promote the idea, but I’m willing to be persuaded it’s more than a goper defense mechanism that has become received fact, like the missing conservative vote that kept Romney from being president.
I think crossover voting in the early primaries was definitely a factor, perhaps not THE factor but enough to be considered:

After that you had momentum, bandwagon, and all of the other modern political marketing factors. It didn’t help that the “SEC primaries” among a few other early ones only left the choices for the later ones primarily between Trump or Cruz. I’m still gobsmacked that this perfect storm has left us with such poor choices from BOTH major parties.
Hilly achieved her “success” only because she married a successful politician. Had she not married Billy she would now be teaching women’s studies at some obscure college.
Trumpet achieved his “success” only because he was born into a rich family otherwise he would now be running a carnival game on the Boardwalk in Atlantic City.
We got two very bad candidates.
With more baggage than Rose in Titanic. If California ever gets through counting their primary ballots Sanders will end up with at least 45% of the delegates. This is in a primary held after the delegate count hardly mattered anyway though it is pretty telling on the level of enthusiasm present within a Democratic stronghold for a candidate who has essentially been running 16 years for the office.
I offer no defense for the legend in his own mind that is Trump. I find it almost hysterical that some of the evangelicals can.
OMG! It’s a vast left wing conspiracy!
Ahhhh, the Great Wall of Zuckerberg! This should give the Wealth Inequality leeches something more to screech about.

Agree with Erick and Boortz on this one. How can Cobb County pols pass an ordinance saying business owners near the new stadium cannot rent their own private property parking lot spaces to game goers on game days? Overreach much?? I’m calling Bulls**t on this!
I’ve been one of the few people who has been excited about the Braves moving to Cobb. Mainly because I don’t live in Cobb any more and the stadium will be much closer to my home.
But not allowing private business to rent parking spots is stupid and obviously an overreach. I bet they let the Cobb County Chamber of Commerce rent their spaces out. It’s just across the bridge over 75 directly across from the stadium.
I might be wrong but I don’t see the ordinance standing. Folks will raise way too much hell! Are you listening, Mr. Lee? What an absolute putz!
Crazy. I thought the stadium relied on the businesses across the interstate to provide parking, since they would not invest in adequate on-site parking. The Cobb Energy Centre is perhaps the best alternative since they are not booked everyday with performances.
It’s Cobb County pols rewarding a CID that supported the stadium with millions in addition to the 2+ mils to be paid by all Cobb County property owners for a few decades, because hundreds of millions aren’t enough.
maybe kim jung un looks like a marshallow bunny if you stretch him out…
Hey, guess what – Rodney Stooksbury (“challenger” to Tom Price) can’t even fill out his campaign committee FEC form 1 correctly.
Dear god. I’d make a better sacrificial lamb to Tom Price than this guy. (Price had $2.5MM cash on hand before his unopposed primary victory, according to his FEC filing.)
