Morning Reads for 10/27/16
Jessica is out husband shopping on a boat, hunting for a private island to turn into the #LastBastionofLibertyonEarth, or both. I forget. Anyway, I’m here to fill in for her today. Here’s what you need to know.
Here:
- IT JOBS! Anthem is going to invest $20 million to create around 2000 IT jobs and lease out floor space in the Bank of America tower in Atlanta.
- Speaking of jobs, here are some of the top paying college majors in the state of Georgia.
- The FBI is warning of a scam involving the Mega Millions lottery after a south Georgia resident fell victim to it.
- One Macon Telegraph reporter keeps readers up-to-date about what happens in the court room.
There:
- Trump sez: “I will free NASA from the restriction of serving primarily as a logistical agency for low Earth-orbit activities,” to a crowd in Florida.
- ICYMI: A self-driving truck makes a beer run. #RiseOfTheMachines
- IBM admits that an outage that affected the Census’ website could have been prevented by turning the router off and back on again.
- The guy who lost 84% to 15% to Speaker Paul Ryan is mounting a campaign for Speaker of the US House.
Yonder:
- Squidbillies will be airing both a Halloween and a Thanksgiving special.
- “Undiscovered Moons May Lurk Around Uranus“….I assume the WaPo wrote it that way on purpose.
- Who doesn’t want to take their very expensive car out for some muddin’?
- Apple is supposed to be announcing new MacBooks with an OLED strip in place of function keys at the top of the keyboard this week, but Microsoft upped the ante.
That’s all for now. Enjoy your coffee…or whatever your preferred morning beverage is.

Diet Coke. Go ahead and judge if you want.
One of those Mexican real Cokes with the white label. No corn syrup.
Costa Rican light roast with whole milk and a cardamom/clove/nutmeg/turmeric spice blend I ground myself. I have not had a soft drink outside of the ginger ale I mix with my Jack in almost 12 years.
i think the real question is “are there rings around uranus?”
This was an interesting piece on the Georgia’s Judicial Qualifications Commission. Who knew PRI could make State Sen. Josh McKoon sound like a reasonable middle ground slightly left leaning elected official. (it was only for like 2 minutes but still…).

Yeah. This was the Josh McKoon that I liked and looked forward to hearing from/about before he went cuckoo bananapants with RFRA.
