A Libertarian Jumps in the Race for Tom Price’s Seat
We have our first official candidate to replace 6th District Congressman Tom Price, who will leave his North Atlanta district to take the job of Health and Human Services Secretary in the Trump Administration. And, he’s a Libertarian. Chase Oliver announced for the seat in a Facebook past Tuesday night.
I am running for several reasons, chief among them being the lack of representation my generation receives in the halls of Congress. It’s people my age who are sent to war, who live with student loan debt, and who will have to pay down the more than 20 trillion dollar debt our elders have left for us.
I make 3 promises to the people of my district. First, I will never vote for war unless we are attacked first. I want to spread markets, not soldiers around the world.
Second, I will never vote for a budget that isn’t balanced or paid for, we cannot keep adding to the debt.
Third, I will never vote to reduce individual liberty. I will fight to uphold constitutional protections for all people.
Oliver appears to be a Gwinnett County native, having attended Snellville’s Brookwood High School. According to this Facebook profile, he attended Georgia State University and is a server at Decatur’s Wahoo Grill.
