David Poythress Has Passed Away

General David Poythress has died. The Announcement was posted on Facebook from the YMCA of Georgia, where he served as a state board member:

We are sad to report that longtime State YMCA Board Member, David Poythress, has passed away.

Poythress was a wonderful example of a servant leader. He served Georgia as Secretary of State, Labor Commissioner, and Adjutant General. He served the State YMCA in many roles including Chairman of the Board and for the past decade as Chairman of the Personnel Committee.

We are grateful for David’s friendship and support. Our prayers are with with wife, Elizabeth, and his family.

Poythress career also included a couple of runs for Governor, losing both times in a Democratic primary to Roy Barnes. Our prayers are extended to the family and friends of General Poythress.
