Good morning! It seems like we have a lot of four-day weeks this year, and we are only in the third week of 2017. So.
Onward!
- How did President Obama survive four years in the White House without completely losing his sanity? Reading.
- Trump “shows his values” with the religious leaders he chose to speak at the Inauguration.
- Eugene Cernan, the last man to walk on the moon, died yesterday.
- Senator Josh McKoon begins his seventh year in the state senate with considerably less clout than he’s had in past years now that he’s lost his committee chairmanship.
- Georgia ranks third in the nation for the highest average credit card balance.
- The Commonwealth Fund estimates the job loss impact of repealing the ACA (SYAC: around 71,000 public and private sector jobs in Georgia).
- Gwinnett is great! Except for Gwinnett Commissioner Tommy Hunter, who many are decrying as not so great at all after he called Congressman John Lewis a “racist pig” on Facebook this past weekend.
- A Nebraska man is on a mission to visit all 417 national parks, and this weekend he visited several on the Georgia coast. (How many of Georgia’s national park units have you visited?)
- Hint: there are 15 U.S. National Park Service units in Georgia.
- We’re hooked on our smartphones and, hey, it turns out that’s not such a great thing.
- ETA at 9:10 AM, because some of y’all thought this was going away, and even I thought that it was going away, but thanks to Dax Lopez, NOPE, it’s not going away.
