Georgia imported more than $6B of goods from Mexico in 2015. That ranked 4th behind China, Germany, and South Korea who combined for half the state’s total.
A 20 percent tariff on Mexican imports would increase the cost of those goods by more than a billion dollars. Opponents of the say producers aren’t likely to absorb that tax themselves, thus we’ll pay more. Those who favor the tax say it will boost domestic production and suggest currency adjustments will net out any cost disadvantage to importers. So your tequila will cost more but you can buy more of it. I say the opponents make the most sense.

The devil will be in the details. It will not apply to all. The last time I sent equipment into Mexico, I would have jumped for joy to be out only 20% over my prices here. NAFTA didn’t shelter me from “you need to understand how we do business here”. (I’m talking legal, not under the table deals)
What type of equipment?

Funny how Democrats love GOPers who depart from the party line but can’t stand their own who do the same?
By the way, the GOP dissenters i.e. McCain in 2000 and this guy now – tend to be totally wrong. For an epic example of that, read this. http://www.frumforum.com/waterloo/ The guy who wrote it now writes for The Atlantic too. One thing to know about GOPers: ignore the ones who lose the battle for control of the party and are on the outside looking in. During the Reagan era, the mainstream media was quick to find the northeastern Rockefeller wing of the party to play the part of endless doomsayer. Now the media is doing the same for the neo-cons who because of the double disasters the war in Iraq and the financial meltdown were ousted from control of the GOP, first by the Tea Party and now by Trump. People like Frum, the Washington Post’s Jennifer Rubin and Cohen want their neo-con faction to return to power in the GOP. They are hoping that if Trump is ousted that Pence will be a good soldier and rejoin them. Fat chance of that happening: Pence joined Trump because the neo-cons in the national party abandoned him because of the social conservative agenda that he advanced as governor (most neo-cons are socially liberal or libertarian and just play social conservative voters for suckers) and his political career was over so fat chance of that.
The immigration program was broken, Congress refused to fix it, Trump threw a wrench in a piece of it, 100-400 folks were impacted out of a few hundred thousand over the weekend as we sorted out the “stop it now” DHS confusion. Canada announced they will take the unwanted refugees, the demonstrators/acting AG called for more division and cried for open borders no one can afford…..not a plan.
We should be even more concerned if Congress ignores another “fix it” mandate in the election. Health care. If The Don throws a wrench in, a lot more than 400 travelers from 7 suspect countries will have hardship for a weekend.
But maybe the Republicans think only those that can afford it, get it, the Democrats think we can stonewall any fix short of a social Democracy and both think, no problem, all public workers are on the Ark.
90,000, not 400.

You know, I never really get tired of saying this: “Pat nails it…”

Noway, you once asked me what I read when I mentioned you were using old school commentary. Got a new one for you to read over. Site started three weeks ago, but a lot of go insider reporting. I like that articles for the bottom line/what does this mean sections at the end of some of the articles.

Thanks! I’ll take a look!
That was one take, NBC, Bloomberg and others did not read that extreme into it, patents are tricky.

Yes.
Any bets on when Trump does a major league ass whupping on ISIS? Timetable? He’s fulfilling campaign promises at such break neck speed I’m betting by Friday.
No, but you have to know there was already something that had been put down on paper. You know Mattis has been studying that bad boy, picking up the STU-III and talking to Trump about it. Another prediction from El Predicto Noway: Trump shows up in Afghanistan, un-announced, to see his troops! He sneaks out with maybe a Fox reporter and gets major league patriotic coverage! His base would go nuts! Hell, Melania might give him a baby girl after that one! LOL!
You left out a “Mission Accomplished” banner! Dang, Drew, sharpen that game a little!
He plays the Rolling Stones at rallies. I say either ‘Start Me Up’ or ‘Under Cover of the Night…’
Very funny.
I especially like “Afghanistein”.
ACP
The Afghanistan surge was under Obama not Bush. When Bush left office there were a little over 30,000. Obama surged to 100,000 and we lost close to 1600 in combat in Afghanistan under Obama.
I got a alumni donation solicitation email from Emory today. I asked to be taken off their email list until they stopped their ‘Snowflakery!” I have it on good authority their donation well has dried up significantly lately. Time to dip into that Co-Cola money, I guess!
History lesson for the day…
