A Resolution Honoring Jon Richards

A resolution was placed in the Senate hopper on Friday in recognition of Jon Richards.

A RESOLUTION

Recognizing Jon Richards; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Jon Richards became a Georgian by moving to Lawrenceville, Georgia, after graduating from Allegheny College and having been born in Cleveland, Ohio; and

WHEREAS, Jon Richards has been a great family man as son to his mother, Caroline, and his late father, Glenn; his sisters Amy and Anne; his brother-in-law Andrew; and his nephews, Cal, Matthew, and Stuart, for whom he is an experienced pumpkin carver and the official distributor of presents found under the tree on Christmas morning; and

WHEREAS, Jon Richards is an accomplished businessman, having sold several enterprises in the emerging tech world to allow for an early and comfortable retirement; and

WHEREAS, Jon Richards has served as the Editor-in-Chief of GeorgiaPol.com and the Front Page Editor of Peach Pundit, bringing unfiltered news about Georgia’s Capitol community to lawmakers and citizens alike; and

WHEREAS, Jon Richards has been a loyal and tireless member of the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce, the Gwinnett GOP, and countless other Gwinnett County civic organizations to help embody the slogan “Gwinnett is Great”; and

WHEREAS, Jon Richards has several decades of dedication to the Gwinnett and Georgia Republican Party organizations but has always sought to find solutions to problems based on the needs of our citizens rather than the needs of a political organization; and

WHEREAS, Jon Richards has devoted hours and given selflessly to mentor high school and college students to become the leaders of tomorrow, many of whom are already the leaders of today; and

WHEREAS, Jon Richards made Georgia his home in the 1980’s and worked ceaselessly in political and social organizations throughout his life.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE  IT  RESOLVED  AND  ENACTED  BY  THE    GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA that the members of this body proclaim Jon Richards an honorary native Georgian and recognize his great accomplishment to this state.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to make an appropriate copy of this resolution available for distribution to Jon Richards.
