On this day in 1943, President Franklin D. Roosevelt dedicated the Jefferson Memorial. Long live the irony.

No ant left behind. Warrior ants carry injured comrades home, just as men and women used to do when we still had marching armies. Now it’s all drones and B2s and barrel bombs.
Trump’s meeting with XI:
He said they hit it off during their first discussion. Mr. Trump said he told his Chinese counterpart he believed Beijing could take care of the North Korea threat. Mr. Xi then explained the history of China and Korea, Mr. Trump said.
“After listening for 10 minutes, I realized it’s not so easy”, Mr. Trump recounted. “I felt pretty strongly they had a tremendous power over North Korea,” he said. “But it’s not what you would think.”
Who knew? The same GOP that said repeal and replacement of Obamacare would be a slam dunk. Speaking of which, have you heard about all the amazing changes Tom Price has made after six years of waiting and preparing to lead the nation on health care? Neither have I.
Yeah the whole healthcare thing has been a large sack of disappointment.
Here’s what I don’t get. If you’ve got a meeting with Xi Jinping, read a briefing paper first. If you’re really unwilling to read, tell them to make you a podcast or something. And if all that fails and you insist on going into the meeting pug-ignorant, why announce publicly afterward that Xi Jinping had to explain the basics of the China-North Korea dynamic to you over dinner? I can see why Xi Jinping might want to mention it, but why would Trump?
I’m not surprised in the least that Trump is this ignorant. I’m extremely surprised that he’s so eager to talk about it.
Read a briefing paper… or if you don’t like to read, ask any one of the experts on China and North Korea that you have access to. It comes across as a combination of a lack of seriousness and ego. He is the smartest person in the world, so if he doesn’t know then nobody does. Hence, no reason to be embarrassed.
The experts on counties were ‘asked’ to resign from the State Department…
Briefing paper? Trump prepared by watching Fox and Friends and Morning Joe.
