Good morning!
- Governor Deal signed a budget yesterday that includes raises for teachers, but apparently not all teachers will the promised 2% increase.
- The City of Savannah plans to implement a $0.25 fee for all purchases of more than $10 in its downtown and historic areas, with much of the funds raised to increase public safety in those areas.
- Augusta considers nano and pico-breweries and distilleries for their downtown.
- “The Only Confederate Victory Ever Painted” has a new home at the Atlanta History Center. Here’s The Economist’s take on how Atlanta preserves Civil War history.
- Trump and Putin to chat by phone later today. “You hang up first!” “No, it’s your turn to hang up first!”
- Congress will commit an additional $120 million for Trump family security. $6o million of that will reimburse localities like Palm Beach County and New York City for “extraordinary law enforcement personnel costs” they’ve incurred to protect the President and his family.
