Morning Reads for Tuesday, May 9
Good morning! The St. George community is under mandatory evacuation as the Okefenokee wildfires continue to rage.
- It’s not “hazing,” and it’s not “jock culture.” It’s sexual assault, not “misbehavior,” as some say in Gwinnett County Public Schools.
- The third time was not the charm for the third inmate in three months to attempt escape from the U.S. Penitentiary in Atlanta.
- Georgia braces for what might be the worst peach season in a century.
- Fact-checking the House healthcare bill.
- Apparently, several White House staffers were so concerned that Trump would withdraw from NAFTA that they called Canadian PM Justin Trudeau and asked him to call Trump to ask him to not pull out of NAFTA. The call is (basically) coming from inside the house!
- When Teddy met Sally.
- Crayola has a new shade of blue, and they’re looking for a name.
- Mexican Coke tastes different because of trade wars.
- Oh my God, Becky. Baby Got Back was released 25 years ago today. Is it an “anthem of body positivity?”
- Does your neti pot want to see you dead?
- Fidget spinners. Fidget spinners. Fidget spinners. Click this link to the otherwise perfectly reasonable Wall Street Journal at your own risk.
- We came close to a sub-2 hour marathon (on a special course, with special shoes).
- How to visit Hamilton’s Nevis.

Sally Yates yesterday testified she told the White House on two consecutive days that Flynn could be blackmailed by the Russians. The White House didn’t fire Flynn from his National Security Advisor job until 18 days later, the day after the Washington Post published leaked information that Flynn was a foreign agent. Would Flynn even have been fired had there been no leak?
The alternative fact that Flynn’s appointment as National Security Advisor was Obama’s fault since it was the Obama’s responsibility to vet Trump’s appointments became fake news, except for Rubepublicans, when it became known that Obama warned Trump two days after the election about Flynn. Spicer will let us know when new alternative facts have been devised.
Hey Charlie,
What does Karen have on her schedule for May 21st? If there’s a scheduling conflict that you only found out about after you found out the debate would be open to the public, let the public at least know what she’s doing that’s more important then a debate.

Aaaaaahhhhh! You’ll LOVE it! Which city?
Holy S–t! Trump fired Comey!
No one in the GOP is capable of checking Trump, notwithstanding occasional grunts and window dressing comments by Graham and McCain that they’ll do so. It’s a prediction suffused with hope and enthusiasm, but Trump puts Ossoff over the top with this.
Sounds like ge was fired for his handling of Hillary case.
It’s very early. Next FBI Director is Trey Gowdy. Hillary should be very, very – “concerned.”
It’s a decision for Sean Hannity to make.
