Morning Reads for July 5, 2017 at Lunch
Ed is off finding after-Independence Day sales on fireworks, so I’m filling in with your morning reads for this Wednesday.
Here:
- Speaking of fireworks, the tax on fireworks has added more than $1 million to the state’s coffers.
- A sheriff’s officer was stabbed this past Monday in Walker County. Thankfully, he is on the mend and in good spirits.
- Columbus State University pulls it’s “Safe Space” program. Rep. Earl Erhart calls the general establishment of safe spaces at college campuses “utter bigotry”.
There:
- CNN is getting criticism over allegations that the news network found out, but chose not to release, the identity of a Redditor who created the GIF that Trump tweeted over the weekend.
- President Donald Trump isn’t pleased with China over North Korea.
- Apparently, some people didn’t understand NPR’s tweet.

Is there any indication the fireworks millions are being spent on ‘trauma care, fire protection services and public safety’, as mandated? Any indication they aren’t?
General Fund, x. Lots of votes still need to be bought!
CNN made the poor parody creator “an offer he couldn’t refuse…” Let’s see, plays that depicts Trump’s killing are “artistic expression ” but plastering the CNN logo on a rasslin’ clip is bad? CNN are Thugs who will soon find themselves outside the WH fence.
Then why would CNN eventually “decide” to publish the guy’s name? Of course it’s a threat. Even you aren’t that dense.
All threats are not blackmail. If someone has the legitimate right to prosecute a certain action, it’s lawful, not blackmail- like how most lawyers will, maybe even regularly, “threaten” further legal action in the absence of the recipient ceasing and desisting something.
Nice string of irrelevant words, Balance. CNN ain’t lawyers and they have no “case” to “prosecute” this blogger for and ohhhhh, they cannot issue a “cease and desist” order, either. This blogger was doing the ol’ Free Speech thang. The backlash to them for this “too cute by half” little statement is ongoing and severe. They really should just shut up. This is obviously an effort at blackmail. Using the vast, almost bottomless pit of resources of CNN to silence one guy?! Really?! Somebody, to quote the late Gus Grissom, realllllly “screwed the pooch” here!! LMAO! Anyone wanna take bets when the lawsuit against FNN is filed?!!?!?
It was, nevertheless, a pretty petty way to deal with that bad dude. Where did DJT Jr. and others get the idea it was a kid? It was almost like they purposely spread a falshood to further the mess they knew CNN would step in. Masterful manipulation.
