WSB TV: Keith Parker Leaving MARTA
Per WSB TV’s Richard Belcher, Marta CEO Keith Parker is resigning to take a job at Goodwill Industries:

This is bad news for both MARTA and the state as a whole. Parker is widely respected both in the MARTA footprint counties, as well as state leaders that once assumed the transit agency was beyond repair. He’s credited with righting not only the financial mess that he inherited, but has improved service while cutting down on crime & nuisance riders during his tenure.
Whomever is selected to lead the agency through the expansion in Clayton County and the City of Atlanta (while continuing to eye North Fulton, Gwinnett, and maybe one day Cobb) will be inheriting an agency much better than it was when Parker first arrived.

I bet it’ll be Billy Payne.
Oh, MAN. You’re right on all counts: MARTA is better than ever, and this is a blow for transit advocates in Cobb.
Sad to see him go. Whoever replaces Mr. Parker will have some big shoes to fill.
Hard as it may be at times, this is why we must always resist making decisions based on the current occupant of any office or position. Hopefully MARTA’s next leader will continue many of the improvements implemented by Mr. Parker.
By all accounts MARTA is much better in many respects than it was that when Parker became CEO. I’ve concerns about MARTA’s IT infrastructure—I hope those concerns are much less than I think them to be and weren’t a factor in Parker’s resignation.
