Rep. Bruce Broadrick to Resign
With a H/T to Tyler Jett of the Chattanooga Times-Free Press, GeorgiaPol just learned that Representative Bruce Broadrick (R) is resigning his District 4 House Seat due to health reasons. For obvious reasons, there is no special election date as of the time of posting.
Beau Patton, Whitfield County GOP’s 1st Vice Chair, announced some time ago that he intended to qualify in 2018, so he is a likely contender for a special election. And other GaPol contributors suspect that we will see local elected officials like Dalton Councilman Gary Crews or Dalton Mayor Dennis Mock run.
We’ll update as information becomes available.

So is this a correct list of all those who have resigned since last month?
SENATE: Hunter Hill (6th District), Vincent Fort (39th)
HOUSE: Bruce Broadrick (4th), Geoff Duncan (26th), Stacey Evans (42nd), Keisha Waites (60th), Stacey Abrams (89th), Regina Quick (117th), Chuck Williams (119th)
Looks like “free for all” in Hunter Hill’s old district that runs from Marietta and Smyrna into Buckhead and Sandy Springs—5 Republicans and 3 Democrats. The district voted for Clinton and Isakson…and Hill won it by just 4 points last time. Doubtless a big spending contest getting underway.
