Speaking of Michelle O, what would you all think about her running in ’20? With no Dem bench of any depth whatsoever, it’s not that big of a stretch. Since Trump proved a celeb can do it, Oprah comes to mind, too. Clooney? He’s got the accomplished pretty wife and young family, is hugely popular and he literally IS from central casting….
I think celeb status will be the norm going fwd, for both parties whenever they see the chance. And independents like Mark Cuban. Elections are nothing but a popularity contest.
“(…a Cubist collapsing of the past, present, and future…) In other words, “Mom had a few in the freezer in case something happened and she couldn’t make dinner.” Something like, you know, Cubist collapsing”
I don’t know what was more entertaining, the original piece, (which I read through) or the whole take down of the original author’s DIY sociology of box of delivered food.
That is pretty funny stuff. I bookmarked it.
Thank you Ginny!
So when will Rex “Mr. Exxon” Tillerson going to figure out that serving Trump involves executing the commands of a capricious idiot or being humiliated by one when failing to do so? Professing loyalty while refusing to deny he called the boss a moron may be his clinging to a shred of or self-respect.
.
Besides, who needs an SoS engagement in nuclear diplomacy when it can be done by from the White House by the blitherings and tweets of a sociopath? What could possibly go wrong?
Let’s play two of my favorite games…
First up “Oh the Irony”
For the ground work – the original article.

So the most powerful man in Hollywood (and one of the most liberal ) is one of those casting couch players we have all heard about for years but the general public didn’t know their names… however a large hunk of Hollywood did.

Which leads to a scramble of politico types (who I’m thinking have a 50/50 shot of actually knowing about this – Clinton, oh yah – Leahy… I doubt it) to give his money away…

But the really fun game is “Name That Hypocrite”, which has to go to Lisa Bloom.
Ms. Bloom has been the civil lawyer for many a harassed women in the last decade, following in mama Allred’s footsteps. And while I believe even a mass murder is allowed to have as good of a criminal defense lawyer as his money can pay for, a criminal lawyer is a criminal lawyer. Ms Bloom is a highly vocal (and successful) civil lawyer specializing in women related suits… and yet.

And before some of us start in with all the gloating replies (you know who you are) Let’s be clear, this in no way makes things ‘even’ or ‘better’ over what others have done. Or make their victims any less of a victim. Weinstein is just as bad as the Clinton, Trump, O’Reilly and Ailes in the world. What is truly sad, just like Clinton, Trump, O’Reilly and (if he was still alive) Ailes, they and the people who support then are going to brush it off and after a time, will be back in some sort of power.
Side note, this is a rely to a comment I have ‘pending’ so context is a little lost. Be patient, our beloved Deep Dark is a very busy individual…
And lets not over look the side dramas here…
Weinstein announced he’s going after the NRA while stepping back from his company. Besides a really craven attempt to stay in the good graces of his Hollywood like minded friends, what does this even accomplish. HOW is he going to fight the NRA, short of sexually harass Mr. LaPierre (that last part is written in sarcasm font)
And look, he gave money to NY DA Vance’s election campaign and a potential investigation went away. I wonder if he learned that trick from the older Trump children or their lawyer/ Maybe giving Money to Vance to make things go way is one of those localized open secrets among the Manhattan set.
