Monday Morning Reads — SESSION!
Happy Monday, everyone! Happy session!
If you’re unwell (like I am) and are going to session, hit me up.
News by the Numbers
40 Days – Will the upcoming legislative session be dominated with election year antics? Speaker Ralston doesn’t seem pleased with that idea. The senate, though, will be a circus.
1/10th of ice – Will cover the Atlanta area and northwest Georgia so cloSE EVERYTHING AND BUY MILK N BREAD!
100,000 people – Expect crazy traffic in Atlanta today. You can blame football. Oh and go Dawgs!
10 weeks – Of filming for The Exorcism at Lincoln High is set to begin next month in Albany. They’re in need of extras if you’re in the area.
3 bags – Is all that oystermen can realistically bring in from Apalachicola Bay these days and Georgia, according to the oystermen, is to blame. Oral arguments begin today in the latest battle of the Water Wars.
11 days – The Mooch lasted only days, but he did give Sarah Huckabee Sanders one helluva gift: a taxpayer funded makeup artist.

Ok so you write a tell all book and you admit that “that looseness with the truth, if not with reality itself, are an elemental thread of the book.”
So, when will the CliffsNotes be published that maybe we can get to the “truth” or better yet ask the question if Michael Wolff can’t tell the total truth in his books why should we believe any of it?
Only in Washington……..

Like any news, one should never expect objectivity. Opinion and belief are interjected or superimposed upon most every bit of “fact” out there, and just from what I’ve gathered, this book seems to be at its core a presentation of many opinions, with an attempt to find an overarching cohesive narrative. If you seek “truth” in this world, it exists, but it is only captured and communicated through the perspectives of individuals.
SCOTUS sends case of Georgia death-row inmate back to lower courts over Thomas dissent. (H/T SCOTUSblog)

Here is the link to SCOTUS blog. There is also a link to a chamblee54 story about the juror.
I hate to admit this, but I agree with Clarence Thomas. In his dissent, he wrote this: “Thomas, joined again by Alito and Gorsuch, dissented. In a 13-page opinion, Thomas accused his colleagues of “bending the rules” to show their “concern for racial justice.” “The Court must be disturbed by the racist rhetoric in” the juror’s affidavit and “must want to do something about it,” Thomas suggested. But, he complained, today’s ruling only prolongs the inevitable by sending Tharpe’s case back to the lower courts for a “useless do-over.” And in doing so, he continued, the court delayed justice for Jaquelin Freeman, “the black woman who was brutally murdered by Tharpe 27 years ago.” “Because this Court should not be in the business of ceremonial handwringing,” Thomas lamented, “I respectfully dissent.”
