Impeach Obama!
Today looks a little slow. So I thought I would post this for everyone’s thoughts, enjoyment, and comments. It isn’t appropriate or the powers that be decide it isn’t wanted please remove it.
Man Buns
It seems the rage now-a-days is for men to have a “Man Bun”. Why this hair style ever came back is I believe a lesson in the nature of humans. Why I would even consider the reasons for why a hair style came back and one which I wouldn’t be caught dead with was the result on one of those mind numbing daytime talk shows.
I was in the waiting room at my dentist office waiting for my appointment. It was taking a longer time than normal and I had checked all of my social media sites at least twice. Bored I started watching the TV. A Guy with his man bun was talking about how men needed to conform and listen more to their “sensitive side”. The Host, a lady, was swooning about his new found sensitivity and of course his hair style. That has been rolling around in my head until the other day when it dawned on me that he was becoming what feminist claim they want. They have long blamed the ills of the world on men and if men would just become more women like these problems would go away. He was changing from a “Man” to a “Wam”. A Wam is a guy who is in touch with his feminine side and suppresses his masculinity. My own definition.
Why would a guy do this I thought and I could come up with two reasons. One is he is really trying to change but how successful he will be only time will tell. You can remove the strips from a zebra but it is still a zebra. The other more nefarious reason is he has found out his new mantra attracts some women better that any original pick up line he has ever used. Since I’m a guy I you can guess which one I think it is.
I told my bride of 42 years about my epiphany and she stated she wanted someone who was comfortable with who they are and wasn’t attracted to the new “Wamhood”. She thought it was artificial and fake. After our conversation she went upstairs to do a few chores and listen to some music. The album she chose to listen was Fire on the Mountain by the Marshal Tucker Band. Maybe I tend to read more into things than are actually there but I thought it was an interesting choice after our conversation.
Have fun with it…..
The problem with the premise it it seems to assume that you have to be one or the other. It’s not that simple. There are a whole range of behaviors and personalities, and boxing whole swaths of people into two boxes isn’t really very enlightening.
You could just as easily make the case that all those kids brought up by fathers trying to be the next Teddy Roosevelt did more damage than most wars.
Having not seen this show it would be hard for me to guess what this guys point was. I also think the man-bun is a little ridiculous but some fashion trends are like that. The ridiculous sized sunglasses some women wear is another but that seems to be slowing down.
What I don’t agree with is equating sensitivity with feminism. This myth of “strong, silent type” goes back before Gary Cooper but his characters were great examples. The problem is that some men, especially those with mental and other health issues, need to open up about their feelings, especially if they are constantly angry and/or depressed. If they self-medicate with alcohol or drugs this usually compounds problems.
I don’t agree with being over or hypersensitive but there is nothing wrong with sensitivity in of itself. I think you are overgeneralizing a complex issue. I thought most feminists were for advocating the rights of women, not trying to turn men into geldings.
Apart from the wamhood thing, styles come and go and to each their own. Tattoos are interesting in that those with ’em can’t readily change style. I’ve had a beard for about 35 of the last 40 years, but I don’t think much of the current ZZ Top stuff..
So do the folks in that community get USPS deliveries to their mailbox/door?
Both FedEx and UPS have relationships with USPS where the post office is the “handoff” end-point service provider for “remote” orders (FedEx “SmartPost” and UPS “SurePost”).
Someone at the Guggenheim has a wicked sense of humor. With a little research they would have learned that President Jello favors fake Renoirs. I wouldn’t loan him my black velvet Elvis-ascends-into-heaven no matter how nice he asked.
Looks like A LOT of companies are using the tax cut as cover to keep their balance sheet looking on the level while they go ahead and make cuts.
Did any Dems give back any contributions from Weinstein, Spacey or PACs run by Conyers or Frank(l)en?
If the organization/campaign they donated to still existed or they have active campaigns – the majority did. Some didn’t. Just like a few Republicans have and have not…
Specifically, which Dems gave the Weinstein money back?
Clinton says she’s giving all his money to charity going all the way back to 2000. I don’t know how we’ll ever know if/when that happens unless they announce it.
With all the low hanging fruit for you today, you want a break down from 5 months ago…?

Well, Snivler gave an indignant little post about Wynn’s money, I wuz just wondering about the Libs giving back their tainted ill-gotten gains, too!
Chases if the stock market slows down in the next week Trump will blame Wynn?

Stock market up 44% since The Great Man was elected! MAGA!
We need to hear The Cars belt out “Let the Good Times Roll!”
But if does go down, is NOW Wynn fault, not his.
I thing we found Noway’s perfect candidate to back…
https://www.cbsnews.com/news/missouri-senate-hopeful-who-expects-home-cooked-dinner-from-fiancee-nightly-at-6-p-m-says-feminists-have-snake-filled-heads/
“… nail-biting manophobic hell-bent feminist she-devils” was my favorite line.
Oh hell yes, Sis! This is my kind of candidate! Real men provide; real women love them for it!!!
What would you know about being a real man? You come across like a cartoon character on here, almost to the point of boredom.
Did you read about the candidate? He make Noway look like the purse holder at a Women’s Right’s march. Seriously. His daughters are going to either rebel, or have huge therapy bills.
That visual made me howl!!! Loved it, Ellynn!
LOL! Well, Doc, you responded right quick, so no boredom with you! Keep on posting, Matthew, we all need the laughs.
Did you just call me a fake woman?
Never!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What is a woman? Can’t a man be a woman? Why does the Patriarchy insist on a binary choice? Can’t we all be non-binary?
I’m not firing you, but your pay is going to be docked.
Corporate financial reports are being released. Union Pacific Railroad recently cited (I think) a reduction of $6 billion in tax lability. CSX Transportation (I think) about $3.5 billion. NS and CN are at over a billion each. I’d guess the collective railroad total to be approaching $20 billion. The collective totals across all companies in all industries are probably in the multiple hundreds of billions. These unrealized losses in potential tax revenue weren’t factored into the tax bill’s $1.5 trillion deficit increase.
The Trump campaign colluding with the Russians as something to be concerned about going forward is becoming less important every day. It’s already last week’s news, but there’s no need for the Russians to collude with the White House dimwit or his surrounding sycophants and wingnuts, when Russian bots can serve Russians interests simply by amplifying Fox and Friends tripe originating with the GOP establishment. Russia-linked Twitter accounts are working overtime to help Devin Nunes and WikiLeaks:
http://www.businessinsider.com/release-the-memo-campaign-russia-linked-twitter-accounts-2018-1
The difference between the first time Nunes sought to discredit the whole intelligence establishment with a made-up “blame Obama” defense and now is that back then establishment Republicans were embarrassed enough by Nunes’ lack of credibility and unvarnished partisan shielding of Trump that they made him recuse himself. Now they’ve fine with Nunes lack of credibility and Russian support discrediting the FBI and DoJ, because it will MAGA.
The good news for Trump supporters is Trump MAGA by granting amnesty to 1.8 million dreamers: https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/trump-supports-path-to-citizenship-for-up-to-18-million-‘dreamers’-in-new-white-house-proposal/ar-AAvb4Ka?ocid=spartanntp
Personally, I can accept restrictions on chain migration, but otherwise the proposal is largely a non-starter. It needs to retain the lottery, though like chain migration, changes are negotiable. Wall money in excess of $2B needs to come from either Mexico or, since it’s a security matter, out of the US military budget. There’s lots of waste there that can just as well be wasted on a wall. Lastly, there needs to be provision for legalization, not a path to citizenship, for long time illegals without criminal histories.
No matter how or when they came into America, they are here illegally, through no fault of innocent US citizens. Now that they are adults, they have disregarded our government and existing requirements for legalizing their presence. Citizenship is a thing of value, including our right to vote. It should not be handed out like candy to anyone whose presence is against our nation of laws. So no handing out a “path to citizenship” other than the legal path that already exists in US law.
What to do about the Deferred Action program created unconstitutionally by Obama when he was president, and which expired on the date set by him? I say now invoke existing US laws that apply to the situation. Failing that, if Congress feels it just has to write a new law, offer them a path to Legal Resident status, NOT citizenship and the right to vote for the governance they have disrespected and disregarded. Britain does not hand out citizenship — even Meghan Markle, Prince Harry’s fiance, cannot become a British citizen; she has to go through 5 years of training in British government and society, and then can become a LEGAL RESIDENT of Great Britain. If it’s good enough for royalty, why not ordinary folks?
The state of affairs in Congress is that legislation could end up being merely Congressional approval of Dreamers staying in the US and some border security improvements.
Thanks, Obama, for getting the ball rolling. And thank Trump for precipitating Congressional approval of the amnesty.
I got my info from BBC publications and should have read a little farther. She cannot become a British citizen at the time of their wedding in May. There IS a minimum of 9-year process that costs thousands of US dollars, requires passing several written tests about living in UK (including speaking English), requirement to prove source of income in Britain, etc. So she may be either a Legal Resident or a citizen at least 9 years from now. After coming in on a family visa, which costs $3,000, individuals must wait five years before permanent residency is granted, also known as “indefinite leave to remain”. But that’s not so “indefinite” because it has to be renewed every two years.
Only after qualifying for a family visa can they apply for citizenship, provided they have spent no more than 270 days outside the UK in the past three years. At this point, Ms Markle will have to take a test with questions on life in the UK, costing $100 US. According to the website Life in the UK Test Web, this could include multiple-choice questions such as “What is the relationship between the monarch and the government?”
The Brits do not pass out citizenship lightly. After passing all the tests and providing required verification documents, she can apply; the application costs $2,000 more. She can become a Legal Resident or go through the 9-year process, pass all the tests, and pay the roughly $5,000 total cost that will be no problem for her to become a British citizen like other British immigrants have to do. Not sure whether she will have to give up US citizenship, but the process for becoming a Legal Resident costs less and is easier. So most regular immigrants choose that one.
Our very own Sonny Perdue suggested the next farm bill should “support work as the pathway to self-sufficiency, well-being, and economic mobility for individuals and families receiving supplemental nutrition assistance.” https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2018-01-24/trump-farm-bill-outline-emphasizes-work-as-a-food-stamp-goal
It’s only natural Perdue think it’s people’s own fault if they don’t use the K-12 education pathway provided them, given Perdue’s record of full K-12 funding an’ ev’rythin’. Besides, if they’re really hungry enough, there’s food aplenty needs pickin’, so it’s a matter of laziness. And ther’d be even more to pick if illegals get run off like his cousin wants..

Surprise. Kushner won’t agree to an interview with Senate Judiciary Committee staff: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2018-01-25/grassley-says-spooked-kushner-won-t-agree-to-russia-interview
It’s not like Kushner …
lied to Congress about contacts between the Trump campaign and WikiLeaks
made over 100 errors and omissions on his security form
got a $285M loan from Deutsch Bank on the eve of the election
help fund an illegal Israeli settlement
walked into the Trump Tower meeting with Russian operatives not knowing it what it was about despite getting advance emails, or
forgot to tell the Senate Intelligence Committee know that he was using a private e-mail account to do WH business.
Cut him a break. He’s been too busy after working all day to MAGA hawking Russian nuclear reactors in the Mideast, and with family members trading on his government position selling green cards in China. He needs the money to cover losses on the White Elephant 666 (now there’s a number for conspiracy theorists!) Fifth Avenue Tower he bought with his family’s money, to have any time to talk to Committee staff.
A couple of recent articles from The Verge now have me wondering if 1984 is becoming an instruction manual.
