It’s not hatred of the military you dope. It’s resistance to the idea of using the military to honor him rather than the other way around. Because that is the root of everything he does.
He doesn’t even understand the parade he saw. It wasn’t a French military parade. There were foreign troops there, firefighters, cops. It’s a Bastille day tradition.
Sure it is, B. Pure Lib disdain of our military, its personnel and the spending done for it. So, the idea of a show of appreciation for the troops with a parade down Pennsylvania Avenue makes y’all recoil in horror. Real Americans would love to see it! You ever seen the Blue Angels or The Thunderbirds? If so, you’ve seen the reactions from the folks in the crowd. Patriotic pride bursting at the seams!!! Brave young men running to enlist the very next day, even. Only in America, B. Only in America!
It’s not disdain for the military. It’s disdain for Trump. And perhaps a preference towards speaking softly rather than waving around the big stick.
Personally, I don’t think a parade matters one way or another. The money would be better spent on veterans, but that’s a broader budgetary issue.
Air shows are one thing but we’re not a country that does military parades. What is the point? I’ve never heard of someone running to enlist after seeing an air show, either. Cute story, though.
Dictatorships do this to put fear in their populations. Someone has already covered the French tradition of Bastille Day.
Did you know that the military purposely recruits more in the South than elsewhere because that’s where conservatives mostly are and “traits the military prizes — like aggressiveness and respect for authority — tend to be more pronounced in conservatives.”

Not really sure. All things military get me so riled up I can’t even think straight.
I’ve seen the Blue Angles, the Thunder Birds, a B-2 and watched a Blackbird do a fly over at the EAA through the years. They have a handful of military entries out of over 50 flyovers a day for a week at the EAA.
I see the troops march in the Saint Pat’s Parade every year, along with a lightweight tank on a trailer, a few Oshkosh trucks and whoever is in command at Hunter waving to us. They land a Black Hawk in Forsyth and have war dogs out doing displays. Bands from Parris Island, VMA, and Valdosta march, and the crews of navy cruisers in port from Jacksonville. They are a dozen or so displays of over 250 entries in a 3 hour parade.
When visiting in Wisconsin, I see the cameo colored trucks doing road tests on south side of Oshkosh. I have cousins, democrats, who build them with pride.
I dated a navy officer during the Gulf War and I currently have an army veteran who thinks I’m a great baker and likes having me around, even if I didn’t vote for’ his guy’. I love and respect the military because they are able to do something which I could never physically do. So instead, I sing troops to their final resting place, when asked.
To have some one question my appreciation (or anyone’s), and to even think a person is not a ‘REAL’ American – to use the military as a ‘Lib hater vs MAGA lover’ foil is disgraceful – all because some one finds the idea of the President of the United States ordering the Pentagon to have a Soviet era/ Chinese/ North Korean/ Iron Curtain/ Third Reich style Parade of military might through the center of the Capital of the most powerful and greatest country in the history of the world (which has been great long before any of us were even born), were troops will be ordered to march for the President’s personal entrainment and the all-important television cameras, just because France has one (when in the world did we start wanting to be just like the French) – when the money could be spent in actually protecting our troops, increasing troop pay or in serving the needs of veterans throughout the whole country – degrading that person for having a different opinion is what is really un-American.

You can hate everything the former President stands for, everything he ever did, every word he ever spoke. Yet to the best of my memory, the former President never told the bitter clingers they were not Real Americans for having a different opinion then him. He never accused anyone of having disdain for the military or it’s troops because he disagreed with him.

This centrist dreads seeing a military parade through Washington DC. I explained above why. By having a different opinion then you, in your own words, in your eyes I am not a Real American and I disdain the military.
As someone who has defended you and tries hard to keep you out of trouble, you have disappointed your little sister. And this saddens me.

You can’t even get that right. She called half of ‘Trump supporters’ deplorables, which is, at best, 1/4 of the population. How many Trump supporters are supporting racists, child molesters, sexual assaulters, liars, and colluders? Pretty much all of them.
I’ve marched in a few parades and helped secure some others, and every one of them deeply sucked. You’re the first to get there and the last to leave. You go on despite how hot, cold, wet, windy it might be and if it’s only one you consider yourself blessed. You’re wearing your dress uni and it has to be buffed to high inspection level. The same goes for your vehicles. And you don’t just show up and perform, you practice first. You practice for several days, and since it’s the military, you practice stupidly and repetitively.
Now I’d watch a Trump parade but only if it included tanks and missiles and if President Jello wore a high-peaked hats with lots of braid and a pair of those epaulets with floppy gold fringe like Qaddafi used to wear. Now there was a man who knew how to dress for a parade.

As for having a North Korea style military parade…hope there is money in the budget to repave every inch of roadway that all those heavy tanks and equipment travel over. Our roads are not built for that kind of traffic and they will certainly cause damage. DC’s surface streets are not in the best shape as is.

Short-term negative – You pay a little more each year in property taxes
Long-term positive – You’re gaining property value and will be able to sell your home or land for more than what you paid to purchase?
