It is Attorney General Chris Carr’s birthday today! As a birthday present, former Fulton County assistant district attorney Charles Bailey has jumped in as a Democrat in a bid to become the next Attorney General.
Greg Bluestein at the AJC provides more details about the race, including the following quotes from Bailey:
- “Chris is a nice guy. And just about everyone I know says he’s a nice guy. That’s not a qualification to be an attorney general. If you’ve never done it before, then you don’t even know where to start.”
- “You’re not the AG of the Chamber of Commerce. You’re not the AG of the Republican Party. You’re not the AG of the governor. You’re the independent lawyer that’s supposed to be there to protect the people of Georgia.”
According to Bluestein, Bailey has been endorsed by House Minority Leader Bob Trammell, former gubernatorial candidate Jason Carter, and Columbus Mayor Teresa Tomlinson.
