ATLANTA – Georgia’s Deputy Insurance Commissioner announced plans to step down from his post to run for Georgia’s Insurance Commissioner in the Republican Primary to be held on May 22. The resignation will be effective on March 1, 2018.
“I have been honored to work closely with the Insurance Commissioner’s office,” said Florence,” and now I will take my conservative message to the Republican voters of this state.”
According to the January 31 financial disclosures – Florence leads the Republican field in contributions and currently has $658,000 cash on hand. The winner of this year’s Republican Primary for Insurance Commissioner is expected to face Democrat Cindy Zeldin in the general election to be held on November 6th.
