One big surprise in the statewide races was the qualification of former State School Superintendent John Barge against current Superintendent Richard Woods. Only two of the announced gubernatorial candidates have qualified so far: Hunter Hill and Stacey Evans.
All of the races are contested already, except for Agricultural Commissioner Gary Black.
