The NRA returned the Delta favor to Casey Cagle by endorsing his gubernatorial bid.
In a statement from the campaign, Cagle said:
“I’m a lifetime member of the NRA, and I’m proud of my unwavering record for the Second Amendment. Like the NRA, I believe the framers of the Constitution meant what they said when they wrote that the right to bear arms shall not be infringed… “Gun ownership is a right that Georgians take seriously, and the NRA endorsement is the gold standard in our state. I’m an avid outdoorsman, and I taught all three of my boys how to hunt, shoot and respect firearms. That’s an American legacy that I want to see handed down to my grandchildren and to the generations that follow them.”
Personally I’m most curious to see how the GOP field responds to this; who tries to be more NRA-ish than the NRA etc.

NRA endorses Cagle for governor
The National Rifle Association today announced its endorsement of Casey Cagle, the leading Republican candidate for governor. The NRA is the nation’s most renowned Second Amendment organization and boasts more than 100,000 active members in Georgia.
“I’m honored and excited to have the NRA’s support because its cause is one that I share and that I have fought for,” said Cagle. “I’m a lifetime member of the NRA, and I’m proud of my unwavering record for the Second Amendment. Like the NRA, I believe the framers of the Constitution meant what they said when they wrote that the right to bear arms shall not be infringed.”
Cagle has earned an A+ rating from the NRA every year he has served in elected office, and has previously been endorsed by the organization.
“Gun ownership is a right that Georgians take seriously, and the NRA endorsement is the gold standard in our state,” Cagle said. “I’m an avid outdoorsman, and I taught all three of my boys how to hunt, shoot and respect firearms. That’s an American legacy that I want to see handed down to my grandchildren and to the generations that follow them.”
Cagle’s campaign continues to gain momentum. Just this week, the campaign has announced the support of Educators First (5,000+ members), the Georgia Realtors (37,000+ members), and the NRA (100,000+ members).
Cagle has pledged to continue cutting taxes, deliver a comprehensive 10-year infrastructure plan, and create 500,000 new jobs in the first four years of his administration. He has also made workforce development a top priority, and will continue to lead on developing a world-class education system in Georgia.
