Morning Reads – Thursday, April 19, 2018
On this date in 1982, the U.S. announced a ban on U.S. tourist and business travel to Cuba. The U.S. charged the Cuban government with subversion in Central America. The irony of it all is that the states, including Georgia, continued doing business with Cuba while private individuals were barred.

About the stealing of campaign door hangers in Douglas County…
New video with pretty damning evidence h/t 11Alive
I expected the knife-wielding seal story to be about Eric Greitens’ troubles.

Where’s Hogg when you need him? This would NOT have happened if all knives had been confiscated!
So on that computer privacy bill, it sounds like the opponents want to protect “independent researchers” (:cough:hackers:cough:), but also prevent hacked companies from “active defense” (i.e hacking back).
I would think you can’t have it both ways; If say, a cybersecurity company is going to employ hackers to explore vulnerabilities on the www, a company being hacked ought to be able to do the same. How would a company know they were being hacked by “legitimate” entities anyway?
It could be I don’t understand this fully though.
Has Gov. Deal signed any of the new bills yet? I am particularly curious about the hands-free bill, H.B. 673.
Good question. Anyone know where we can find this info?
I am interested in the Eagles Landing crap of a bill. Im hoping he vetoes it.
Perfect ticket for the Libs: Stormy/Hogg 2020!! Gotta nice ring to it, don’t you think?
In my lifetime, Dem Presidential candidates by and large have been relevantly experienced (i.e. they have demonstrated broad policy knowledge and public service). Their problems have tended to be they are boring/stale (think Dukakis, Kerry, Gore) or they were a Clinton. I am waiting for the 2028 election between Chelsea Clinton and Don, Jr. See, you couldn’t even imagine Don Jr. running without laughing.
I think the thought of Chelsea running is hysterical. You have to admit she has more business experience than Obama. At least hiring a few folks at the Clinton Slush Fund is more experience that Obama had.
This you, Sniv?? LOL!

“I have never been to Prague in my life. #fakenews” Trump’s attorney Cohen tweeted in Jan 2017.
And the Attorney General, Trump’s son and son-in-law hadn’t met with the Russians during the Trump campaign at the time of that tweet.
Cohen told Congress he didn’t go. If he indeed did go, it’s my understanding it’s the same as lying to the FBI.
No worries. Trump’s pardon of Libby telegraphs that.
TX lawyer who dropped case against Trump U. coincidentally nominated for federal bench: https://crooksandliars.com/2018/04/tx-lawyer-who-dropped-case-against-trump-u
“President Donald Trump named former Texas Deputy Attorney General David Morales on Tuesday to a trial bench in Corpus Christi. Morales had been recommended to the White House by Sens. John Cornyn and Ted Cruz.
Morales made headlines during the presidential campaign when news outlets learned that in May 2010 the state’s consumer protection division had sought permission to pursue what it believed was a strong case against Trump and Trump University. Investigators asserted that Texas taxpayers had been bilked out of more than $2.6 million, and sought to file a $5.4 million lawsuit.
Morales rejected the recommendation. Texas dropped its investigation. Trump University voluntarily ceased operations in Texas.”
And BTW, with it being tax time and everything, has that IRS audit of Trump’s tax returns been concluded?
It’ll be completed January 21, 2025!
Stormy headlines, Playboy playmate bought off by proxy, overt xenophobia, and other shenanigans by the Narcissist-in-Chief and his Two Corinthians. Yet his approval rating with white evangelicals is soaring 30 points higher than the rest of the populace and he hasn’t even had to go the Jimmy Swaggart “I Have Sinnnnned” route. (Not that I think he ever would as he has been very clear that he feels entitled to act as he does).

Problems for ex-mayor Reed:

I always thought he was an arrogant jerk so I can’t say I much sympathy for him.
Yet another agency head with no relevant experience:
“Trump’s next NASA administrator is a Republican congressman with no background in science”
“NASA has a staff of 17,000 and a budget of nearly $19 billion (not to mention the numerous contractors it works with). Bridenstine’s experience of managing a museum in Tulsa pales in comparison to the enormous complexity of NASA.”

I’m not sure if Mr. T just wants sycophants everywhere or that he has no choice. Maybe both I guess.
Happy Tax Freedom Day. Ours was April 9. Of course if T-SLUSH passes in Dade we will have to add aonther day. It would be interesting if someone would do a calculation in Georgia by County.
Thirty years keeping this killer up!? Carry out the sentence already! Send a bill to the family. Next winning issue for common sense voters? Shortening death penalty cases to one state and one federal appeal. Gar-enteed to coast to victory!

Welllllll….Ruh-roh….Lol!
First of many to come!!’ Schweeeeeeet!!!
https://www.cnn.com/2018/04/19/politics/justice-mccabe-criminal-referral/index.html
I bleeeve I did. More criminal referrals be coming, more grand juries be coming. More Dem corrupt scum be worried. Warm water and honey, SnowBiscuit. Better for helping you whistle past that graveyard.
Of course but helluva first step, huh? LMAO! No, I’m more concerned over lies BYYYYYYYY the FBI. They lie to the FISA Judge to get that there warrant, they lie to congress. Let’s see…McCabe, eventual criminal conviction/plea deal. Same for Comey. Then comes The Peddler…then comes Lynch with the baby carriage! LOLOLOLOL! Nice ring, huh? Oh, Flynn’s confession/conviction will be found to have been illegally obtained. Fruit of the Poisonous Tree, there F. Lee! Bank on it! Then he’ll sue to recover all legal fees and punitive damages. Boo-koo bucks! It’ll be renamed the General Flynn FBI Building.
Seems like a good time for some George Carlin quips:
“Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.”
“The reason I talk to myself is because I’m the only one whose answers I accept.”
“Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.”
“I do this real moron thing, and it’s called thinking. And apparently I’m not a very good American because I like to form my own opinions.”
“I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman, ‘Where’s the self-help section?’ She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.”
“In America, anyone can become president. That’s the problem.”
“Don’t sweat the petty things and don’t pet the sweaty things.”
“Conservatives say if you don’t give the rich more money, they will lose their incentive to invest. As for the poor, they tell us they’ve lost all incentive because we’ve given them too much money.”
Islamaphobia….really? Of all of the wars and conflicts that he world has seen the last few decades and the thousands of terrorists attacks around the globe, how many are perpetrated by the religion of peace?! 99%? Maybe there is good reason to fear it. And they kill even more Muslims than Christians or Jews.
The slang is buku, you moron.
Your contributions here are almost Stephen Hawking-like, Doc. You truly are an inspiration!!
