From ’06 to ’18–Georgia’s Vastly Different Political Landscape
Twelve years is a long time in politics but just how long?
In 2006 both Democratic gubernatorial hopefuls called for a special session of the legislature to write a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage in Georgia.
Now both candidates are telling voters they are the most progressive and committed to equality.
One example of how much a seismic shift has happened in the Democratic Party of Georgia.

Wow. I can’t believe I didn’t know about that foolishness in 2006 – must have been pre-Facebook.
I *think* it was all just before FB opened up to everyone.
At the time, there was talk of a looming war within the DPG if progressives would ever take over etc etc.
The war seems to have never happened. The party just changed.
In a way, I suppose Mike Berlon was the war. But the ammo dump exploded. Then the earth kept spinning under the combatants and the landscape changed.
Sorry. I didn’t get enough sleep last night.
It was certainly around that time. I first had FB in late summer of 2005 and needed the .edu address.
