Eight Democratic women woke up to some good news.
EMILY’s List endorsed Lucy McBath in CD-6, Carolyn Bourdeaux in CD-7,Lindy Miller for Public Service Commissioner, Park Cannon for HD-58, Betsy Holland for HD-54, Angelika Kausche for HD-50 and Aisha Yaqoob for HD-97.
Stephanie Schriock, president of EMILY’s List said in separate press releases:
“Lucy McBath is the perfect example of a first-time candidate that EMILY’s List is so excited to be supporting in 2018: a hardworking mother who was drawn to social justice advocacy through personal experience and a passion for change. Lucy was a flight attendant for over three decades, but after her son was tragically shot and killed, she turned her lifelong commitment to community activism into a second career.”
“Carolyn Bourdeaux is an experienced leader whose lifelong commitment to public service has prepared her to be a voice for Forsyth and Gwinnett County families in Congress. Carolyn has honed her public policy expertise over the years as a budget expert at the Georgia state legislature and as a professor at Georgia State University. Now, she’s ready to take that expertise to Washington and work to expand opportunities for working families.”
“Voters in Georgia have the opportunity to make history this year. Not only can they elect the first African American woman governor in the country, but they can also elect a record number of women to the state legislature. Four of these women are first-time candidates whom EMILY’s List is proud to endorse ahead of their primaries because we know they have what it takes to flip the districts and statewide office that they’re running for. The fifth, incumbent Park Cannon, is a millennial who carried on her predecessor’s groundbreaking legacy as an LGBTQ woman of color serving in the state legislature. EMILY’s List is excited to stand with all five of these women leaders and show them the full support of our community.”
