Cagle Says He Would Send Guard to Southern Border

Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle sent out a press release this morning stating that if/when he is elected Governor of Georgia that he will “contribute National Guard troops to the border as part of Operation Guardian Support.” Operation Guardian Support is a mission put in place by President Donald Trump to help secure the United States at its southern border by using National Guard members from across the country as support to the efforts of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection and the U.S. Border Patrol.

Cagle:

“In our state, we’ve led the nation in cracking down on illegal immigration, but we are just treating symptoms until we get to the root of the problem. I’ve led the fight against sanctuary cities in Decatur and helped pass one of the toughest laws against illegal immigration in the country. But, I share President Trump’s frustration that the illegal border crossings continue. That’s why as governor of Georgia I’ll send the best National Guard to bolster Operation Guardian Support.

Georgia is always ready to lead on issues that matter. Illegal immigration has undermined the rule of law, strained local tax resources and endangered communities. Finally we have a president who recognizes the severity of the problem and is going to actually do something about it. Georgians want to be a part of the solution.”
