Those unhappy Irish can always vote with their feet and move to Poland.
And John Kirby, remember him? Neither does anyone else, raises his hands, waving Arnold Horshack-like, “look at me, look at me!!!!” The new star in…”Quest for Relevancy…”

Very sad news about a really good guy.>/A> 🙁
That’s really too bad. Crawford has always been entertaining and informative and has never balked at holding pols’ feet to the fire. iow, just what I like in a political reporter.
Those wage increases that congress said would follow with corperate tax cuts…

Who didnt see this coming??
Harley-Davidson say layoffs after tax cut is like being stuck in a bad dream.

Broad based pay hikes are taking place. CEO compensation at Fortune 500 companies is up 8.5%.
Alito’s solo dissent in Collins v. Virginia is cracking me up. Particularly in light of his rulings/concurrences in other cases, his inclusion of the Dickens quote is particularly hilarious.
“If that is the law, he exclaimed,
“the law is a ass—a idiot.” C. Dickens, Oliver Twist 277
(1867).”

Just because you have the no 1 show of the season doesn’t make you bullet proof when you go on a 2 tweeter storm complete with racist comments. (unless you Donald Trump)

Not complaining in the least. I think you have even posted on here in the past something along the lines of “Free Speech doesn’t protect you from Stupid.” This… this…was extremely stupid. I hope yall are watching “Billions”. One major character just fired his nemesis, adding a statement, “In what world did you see yourself surviving that…” Same thing here for Rosanne.
Matter of fact, I don’t think I’ve heard something this bad since Michael Richards went on a rant using the N-word during a stand up routine. He went “missing” for about 20 years.
Happening at the same time is the release of the poll of perceived racism in America, where abt 65% say it’s a significant problem, 30% say it’s a minor problem, 4% say it’s no prob, and, and 1% say it was never a problem.
https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/politics-news/poll-64-percent-americans-say-racism-remains-major-problem-n877536
That 1% is probably the neo-Nazis. I wonder about the correlation between the 35% who say it’s no problem or a minor problem, and the 35% who always approve of Trump. Coincidence? Just stirring the pot here.
A single circle Venn diagram?
Yeah, I just don’t get how anybody could possibly think that comparing any black person to an ape is going to end well for you in public life.
In addition to being mindless, it is also a really selfish thing to do because now all of Rosanne’s cast-mates are going to suffer for this as well. Some network or streaming company might pick up the show in a year, I mean Imus got his job back and all. Meanwhile, that was probably a nice chunk of change which will be missing from people’s pockets.
Some people really do not belong on Twitter, I think it encourages some of the worst aspects in social media.
They just removed all episodes of the original and current series off of every network and streaming system. If anyone in the cast has a royalty clause from the original series they just lost part of their income. The same thing happened to cast members of the Cosby show.

“fortunately for those actors the amount of residuals they would still be getting from shows that originally aired in the 80 and 90’s would be pocket change at this point, so i doubt it’s what would have been keeping the roof over any of their heads anymore…
It’s not like she was associating black people with Muslims.
The Memorial Day Tweet from President Trump once again referring to something he watched on FoxNews has me thinking about the old chicken or the egg conundrum.
(I’m also currently reading a Roger Ailes biography and realizing that my previous assumptions about our country’s susceptibility to propaganda wasn’t cynical enough by half.)
It’s all sales, Will. Same applies to everything. Products and candidates, it’s all the same. Carville sold Clinton successfully. Ailes sold Reagan. K-Cars by Chrysler stunk. Mustangs rock!
Carville is just another character out of the Robert Penn Warren mold of electing a president. Ailes wasn’t even political until pitching his services to Nixon in 1968. He was purely an entertainment producer of television shows (Mike Douglas Show when he met Nixon) and Off-Broadway plays. His hook with Nixon was in response to Nixon wanting to get an understanding of this television “gimmick”. He told him if he continued to see it as purely a gimmick he would lose again.
I had a friend that once told me in the 1200 Baud modem days and downloading a small jpg took hours that our future would have the ability to download movies at a whim and that the physical media (VCR, LaserDisc, etc.) was doomed. This was vision. This was as well:
“That a news executive was essentially running the Republican Party was a remarkable development in American politics. But it was an outcome Ailes foretold. After the 1968 campaign, Ailes spoke of a time when television would replace the political party, that other mass organizer of the twentieth century. With Fox News, that reality was arguably established.” — Sherman, Gabriel, The Loudest Voice in the Room
Re: Witch Hunt
(or I guess the new format is #witch hunt)
Per Chuck Schumer tweet:
“There were at least 75 contacts, including 22 meetings, throughout the election and transition, between Trump associates and individuals linked to the Russian government. The president and his associates have also lied about every single one.”
It’s all one word after the hash tag, so your only tagging witch.
On a side note, don’t you drive past my house this week on the way to the beach?
We’re not heading that way until the 16th.
Gonna be hot.
How is traffic on that drawbridge under construction?
The draw bridges stay in tack for the next your or so until the first set of lanes are built north of the bridges. They are grubbing and putting in access between the boat landing and the river. Pilings and surcharging the approaches should be next, so the parade of barges and dump trucks will be soon. During the day they close down lanes on the west bound while they are working and switch to 2 way on the east bound bridge. So far all lanes open between early morning, after 5 and weekends.
TGM speaking to us from Nashville!!! Inspirational!
Yeah, where’s Leni Riefenstahl when you need her?
