I found out about the newest crazy conspiracy being spread by Trump supporters.

That fellow who parked a van of explosives on the Hoover Dam back in June was a member. He wanted authorities to release “The Memo” that proved Hillary and other prominent Democrats were part of a world wide pedophilia network.
This is getting dangerous, they are showing up and publicizing their beliefs. You can’t talk to crazy folks, anything you say that is negative about their beliefs means you are part of the conspiracy.
And ironically- not really ironically- there is one other world leader besides Trump who the group apparently does not criticize- Putin.
I mean, 4Chan or 8Chan couldn’t be better platforms for foreign disinformation campaigns to prey on the mentally ill and lemmings. The problem is the disinformation campaign has also reached into other social media, and from wherever, the hate gets retweeted or passed on by folks including those w media and political power. Because they’re lemmings, or manipulators.
Pressed by normal people, the GOP establishment presents itself as not dignifying it by calling it what it is—unhinged lunacy—-but that’s because their power and livelihood rely on them accommodating it.

Were Obama’s parent’s Muslim? His father was and I am not sure about his mom. If you are born to Muslim parents, does that make you a Muslim at least by birth? Not sure, but I would think so. I have no doubt he is a Christian. I guess he converted or maybe he didn’t have to. I personally don’t care. Although listening to Reverend Wright for 20 years, it might drive some to seek another church if not another religion.

Besides the name, I haven’t actually heard many opinions.
I happen to like the idea-generally- but for what may not be typical reasons.
I tend to think that if such an agency is created, it will create a dedicated and considerable stream of funding to R&D that can be applied to other exploratory and scientific endeavors.
NASA started out as a unit within the DoD.
Yeah, we’ll figure out how to blow things up in/from space.
(I’m thinking lasers that can target anywhere on Earth (if we don’t have that capability already.))
But that unit within the DoD laid the groundwork for the Internet, etc.
I believe the R&D results will go beyond military applications, and it can be a steady source of appropriations that can balance with NASA’s needs. Heck, create an interagency team for that while we’re at it.

I remember when they carved Stone Mountain, I’m that old. I thought it was mistake then and I still think it is a mistake. It is a blight on Georgia’s reputation.

I can ask a few questions to them and that will get them thinking about it for sure. I would say about 35% of my buddies are NOT democrats. Many are business owners and retired Army and Marine. They don’t want the government taxing them to death or making it impossible to start a business any more than anyone else. Military guys are about 90% republican for obvious reasons…Some love Trump for shaking things up. Others are not fans. We can laugh about some of the daily Twitter or political hysteria. Most is overblown and anyone with a brain knows it. Many will conceded that democratic party has done and is doing almost NOTHING for them other than pander before elections, show up at a black church, change the way they speak, throw in a couple of amens and go back to screwing the country with their leftist agenda. Others are not ready to admit to being a conservative for the same reason a white person can’t put a Trump sign in their yard or tell the truth to a pollster because of liberal hatred, foul language, intimidation and vandalism. That is no lie. The liberal intimidation and hatred is bad enough if you are white, what conservative blacks go through is even worse. Ask Clarence Thomas. These questions always spark discussion. I’m obviously in no position to judge your relationships, but it is interesting that your acquaintances trend more like military and law enforcement employees or vets on R v. D. Noway also mentioned that his African-American acquaintances are military/LE….
And that does matter some, but I was just curious.
As for the policy issues you raise, I just have time to point out an obvious thing or two.
No one likes taxes. But everyone wants an effective government. And pretty much everybody supports Social Security and Medicare, and Repubs want to even raise current levels of defense spending. That’s about 75% of the budget right there. And even if the government was bare bones, there would still be a common sense trade off between taxes and deficits. No one likes taxes, but many are willing to pitch in more for better social security.
Everyone supports small businesses, or at least says they do. There are many conflicting policies, but suffice it to say that sometimes that support is just lip service.
And there is obviously a distinction between being African-American and all humans having historical roots in Africa. You say “They haven’t thought about it that way”, but to me that raises a red flag. If they exist, and they told you that, the overwhelming odds were that they were being socially kind. But those were the kinds of things I was curious about.

It’s interesting how Gwinnett is holding a referendum to basically join MARTA but they are delaying it until March. I smell politics but at least they are taking a bigger step than Cobb, which is going to conduct telephone “surveys” sometime this fall. It still seems silly to me. Why go to the added expense of an additional election in March where voting is much easier for the old farts who are generally resistant to change?
The demographics in Gwinnett are changing faster than in Cobb so I imagine this shouldn’t be too much of a surprise.

Every SPLOST or anything similar is held during a special election or the like. Never a general election.
This just isn’t true. Clayton Co. voted to join MARTA in November 2014. The Gwinnett commission could have easily put the vote in November.
I meant specifically in Gwinnett. They are never timed for election days when the majority of the voters will be turning out and Charlotte Nash is well aware of the practice. I can recall one when my commissioner was not up for reelection and an ESPLOST was the only choice on my ballot.
So what is the deal with this Kemp endorsement of a tax break for Delta? Is that the same tax break he was opposed to during the primary?
