It would seem the undicted coconspirator charge has made a dent along with the news of the National Enquirer holding decades of Trump “secrets” and doing catch and kill for him.
Too bad so many Republicans threw their lot in with him.
A few of us were discussing the hit his approval rating would take from the Cohen and Manafort finding of guilt. From another story on the same poll:
“Overall, 60 percent of Americans disapprove of Trump’s job performance, with 36 percent approving, according to the poll. This is only a slight shift from the last Post-ABC survey, in April, which measured Trump’s rating at 56 percent disapproval and 40 percent approval.”
So, the approval rating took a 4% hit. With polling error, I think nearly any of our guesses could be more or less right. Bottom line- single digits.
But the support for Mueller (63%) and Sessions (62%, 64%) indicates a few more % points of soft support. So, I think worse news could make it dip to a 63% disapproval, 33% approval, but it would probly take terrible awful not-at-all-good news to get below that.
I thought it would have made zero difference but apparently it made a somewhat small difference. I would say 30-33% is his rock bottom number.
Too bad so many Republicans threw in their lot in with Trump?

It’s become a place for us oldsters for sure. I have thought about dumping it but I have relatives all over the country and it is a good way to keep up with them. So until something comes along that is better I guess I will be on there.
Just to clarify about that 100% tax: The tax is to cover 100% of the amount of federal benefits the employees use. (It’s not a tax of 100% of profit or anything like that.)
Bezos makes about $250M every day and many of his workers are on food stamps.
Pay them a living wage and get them off assistance or pay for the assistance. Seems only fair.
His workers are paid at market rates for whatever job they do. Probably higher. Don’t like it? Go work elsewhere. Next.

I know UPS had a reputation of being a hard place to work but the pay was higher than elsewhere. And the workers were unionized so they had some leverage with management.

It’s not a matter of them not liking it. They make so little they qualify for government assistance, which we pay for. Of, course we would pay for it anyway if Amazon had to raise their prices to cover it, but that is how conservatives are supposed to want it to work, isn’t it?
It’s just a matter of approach. Conservatives would typically just want to cut welfare and let things work out. But too many people get caught in that, like disabled people. So the other way to do it is to impose a living wage. Then, since people make x amount, they don’t qualify for or need welfare. And it’s smaller government! What is wrong with that?
The only thing wrong with is that liberals are supporting it, so conservatives have to oppose it. Well, and corporations like having welfare as a subsidy, so they wouldn’t like it either.

Buford City Schools earlier this week, in response to a tape of a racist rant by the Superintendent Hamby becoming public, released a statement that racism isn’t acceptable . The BoE statement omitted the important caveat that the racism has to be public information to be unacceptable.

That’s a very good movie, and I liked the score very much. The way the film started with an orchestral scene almost gave the sense of an operatic performance through the end. It was kind of a light hearted thriller, and I enjoyed watching all the half thought out schemes barely work.
DTM, regarding the funeral, you do realize McCain, a lifelong Republican and one I voted for, choreographed his own service? He was sending a message and you seem to have missed it. People can love their country, habe genuine differences of opinion, and still respect each other. Some of it is concern that johnny come latelys showing up with a small trailer and a little gas money will think they’ve earned an control of the car. The Board election would have better been held sometime after the 2019 General Assembly Session so that current elected representation is selecting the Board. Many of those that will be voting are lame ducks—not running for re-election or may not be re-elected. Some of the elected representatives will be voting for three Board members when they won’t even be in office when the elected Board convenes!

The district lines mostly follow major arterials. That’s good in that the district line arterial corridors will each have two people on the Board that should be very knowledgeable about the corridors. DeKalb is chopped up though, not unexpected from a GOP state government that gerrymanders or otherwise contrives to weaken DeKalb and Fulton County representation. (I leave the reader to speculate on the type of representation that Doraville area residents in a largely immigrant community are going to get in a District dominated by East Cobb.)

The ATL Board is a wait and see proposition for me, which is about the best that can occur when the circumstances have been contrived and will be controlled by people in whom I lack trust. I regret that onus is on the ATL to prove itself, rather than be proven wrong, but those are the rules.

As to projects, I support a heavy rail Northeast Line (I don’t like the line color names) extension to Jimmy Carter Blvd along the NS line, and perhaps would support a subsequent extension to Gwinnett Place or elsewhere in Gwinnett County. A terminus on the east side of I-85 would be help relieve congestion at a couple of I-85 interchanges.)

I don’t think the Perimeter Area is dense or walkable enough for heavy rail on I-285. Cumberland-Suntrust isn’t, and GM site re-development has failed to launch. I think I-75 North/I-285 BRT with excellent Medical Center and Doraville station stops and an eastern terminus on I-285 BRT line located well east of I-85, or well north of I-285, or both best for the corridor. Cobb would have to pick up a greater share of the capital and operating costs than that based on apportionment by I-285 corridor length.

Something about Thomas County in particular, or is it a stand-in for rural Georgia in general? Rural Georgia transit to me is something that serves the poor, disabled, or aged. Continued development of ride technology probably has the most promise.

Thanks for the thoughtful comments on the ATL. The board districts were actually drawn up by the Atlanta Regional Commission and I completely agree about counties funding transit should have a greater voice. It was actually something the Transit Plannjng Board (a predecessor to the ATL) advocated, but the regional cross county districts were the compromise.
Heavy rail to Gwinnett Place has always been the proposal since the 1990 referendum that failed. I personally think something should be proposed for South Gwinnett such as making the Clifton line go to Snellville, or if we had built the Tucker Line, extending that line.
Without leadership in Cobb, nothing will happen. Since Cumberland is a logical terminus for any 285 line, we’ll only get GDOTs managed lanes that might have peak hour GRTA buses.
Thomas County was a stand in, but also a family issue about how to help relatives age in place.
