Morning Reads for Tuesday, September 3
Good morning! The more you know: half-mast and half-staff are not the same thing.
- Two Reuters journalists in Myanmar were sentenced to 7 years in prison for, essentially, being journalists.
- Incalculable, catastrophic loss: Brazil’s national museum burned to ashes, and an estimated 20 million items were destroyed.
- Stacey Abrams visited Augusta this weekend.
- Mayor Bottoms to residents in west Atlanta: don’t sell your property just yet.
- CON, CTCA, and what might be in store for the 2019 legislative session.
- The economy is booming – but unfortunately for some GOP congressional candidates, it’s not booming so much in battleground districts.
- Economists are concerned that fracking is on unstable ground.
- Seeing political party logos will – shocker! – shape your opinion on facts.
- These photographs, including several taken in Georgia mills, helped eradicate child labor in the United States long after we had unions and the Labor Day holiday.

“Colin Kaepernick”
“The right to assemble is recognized as a human right and protected in the First Amendment of the US Constitution under the clause, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”[1]”
““I have a dream,” he boomed over the crowd stretching from the Lincoln Memorial to the Washington Monument, “that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: ‘We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal.’ I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slaveowners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood. I have a dream that one day even the state of Mississippi, a state sweltering with the heat of injustice, sweltering with the heat of oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice. I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. I have a dream today.”
What do these three things have in common? The right to protest the lack of progress of equal rights for all in the last 55 years. We seem to be going backwards in our social development. .
We can’t go back to 1958, we have to look ahead to 2028. We need American society to become stronger, not divided.
Amen to that! Hope the race baiters take this to heart. I hope everyone does. We can agree to that.
Progress has long been two steps forward, one step back.
JUST DO IT!
I’m not opposed to consideration of modification to CON, but I’m predisposed to opposition to expansion for-profit hospitals and healthcare that by definition cherry-pick what they provide, and leave necessary and unprofitable care and services to others.
.
The fewer the privately insured, the worse the overall adverse effects of profit-based healthcare. It’s a step that increases basic healthcare segregation by economic status. Give an inch, and CTCA will want to buy another inch and another inch.
From the Twitty Pulpit yesterday we get this tweet:
“Two long running, Obama era, investigations of two very popular Republican Congressmen were brought to a well publicized charge, just ahead of the Mid-Terms, by the Jeff Sessions Justice Department. Two easy wins now in doubt because there is not enough time. Good job Jeff……”
So we get the President of the United States chastising the AG for DOING HIS JOB as required by law because his team will lose a couple of alleged criminals. To quote the comedian Henry Cho, What’s wronnnnng with this pittchure?”
Will, saw that too. Looked like a stupid comment to me. If those folks did something wrong, suffer the consequences. That goes for Trump too. BUT…if he is not guilty of the things they have tried to do say about him and do to him, someone needs to pay the consequences….apparently quite a few have and more on the way.
The alleged crimes are campaign finance-related and insider trading. Trump tweeted support for Manafort who was convicted of bank and tax fraud, and lobbying violations. Trump has yet to release his tax returns. Nothing fishy there. Fake news.
Is this next??

Thank you, Libs!! Sickening…
https://www.infowars.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/236209_image.jpg
Infowars??
I thought you had higher standards than using Infowars as a source.
Their cartoons are spot on and funny as hell! You shooting the messenger, too, Armani? Disappointing. I thought you were more intelligent than the normal drones.
When you can’t attack the message, attack the source!!! Classic Lib tactic!!!
As I mentioned before… it’s not a blue wave, or a red wave. It’s a pink wave, in both parties.

Yes, and Kavanaugh is just going to make it worse for the GOP.
http://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-garlic-labor-shortage-20170207-story.html
“Last year, the farm was short 50 workers needed to help peel, package and roast garlic. Within two weeks of upping wages in January, applications flooded in. Now the company has a wait-list 150 people long.”
So much for John McCain’s claim that Illegal Aliens are doing work that Americans won’t.
Good story. 2% growth was the new normal too. Capitalism is bad…The NFL is chattel slavery…everyone that you disagree with is a racist…a lot of the BS is just that.
You’re citing a story from Feb 09, 2017, which give the raise increase credit to the Obama boarder enforcement, the raise in the Mexican and Obama ecomany, cut backs on production, and a Cal bill signed by governor Moonbeam “changing the threshold for overtime for farmworkers, who now can receive such pay after eight hours of work or more than 40 hours a week. Previous law set the bar at 10 hours per day and 60 hours per week.
But the money quote… “The one constant is that no matter how much we pay, domestic workers are not applying for these jobs,” Resnick said. “Raising wages only serves to cannibalize from the existing workforce; it does nothing to add new laborers to the pool.”
Highway robbery. Time to end this abuse,
https://www.ajc.com/news/police-seized-000-couple-cash-they-couldn-get-back-until-they-went-public/OuPhbfxTGG0ho6tmDPomVN/
Agree 1000%! Time for all of us to get our OWN dash cams. Crap like this is a real abuse.
Raleigh great article. Is anyone else stunned that these civil forfeiture laws are legal and allowed in this country? Gosh what a huge area of potential abuse…The police can just come steal your stuff…No innocent until proven guilty here…
Don’t liberals think this is outrageous too? Don’t most of us think that decriminalizing some of the harsh penalties for a little weed makes sense too?
We might be making some headway on quite a few areas.
Dem “mob” at Kavenaugh hearings! LMAO! Who is surprised? Show of hands, please! They’re no better than Occupy Wall Street protestors!
https://www.weeklystandard.com/john-mccormack/john-cornyn-says-at-brett-kavanaugh-supreme-court-hearing-that-democrats-are-promoting-mob-rule
Well, it wiped the smirk off of conservative’s faces didn’t it? Kavanaugh is just gross. He’s written pervy questions, supports an imperial presidency and Trump is even hiding his records. Putting him on the court will make conservatives pay for a generation but I guess they’ll do it anyway because they know they’ve lost the battle.
Which battle, Sweetie, is the one we’ve lost? Won in ’16. Won most of TGM’s endorsed races. Rolled back Dim way of doin’ business by the bucket load. TGM is keeping promise after promise. Thus far, tell me what your side has won? I’m just waiting to see which Dim, during the confirmation process, will hop up and take a dump on the main table.
You see their stock price? Down 3% today! Let’s see a further erosion of NFL ratings and attendance this Fall. Another….Awwww…Nawwww!
The culture wars. Conservatives lost. They know they did and are trying to pull a Handmaid’s Tale on the country. If Kavanaugh makes it on the court Kemp had better be ready to answer questions as to whether he is going to put women and doctors in jail. He had better start answering a lot of questions.
Winning the primary silly has nothing to do with anything. Yes, we all know the GOP is the Trump party, the party of Russia and the party of white nationalism. We know Republicans love Trump. What you need to face is that the other 60% or more of the country does not.
So far Kavanaugh is getting eaten alive in these hearings. Nobody is going to do anything on a table unless you’re talking about a Republican possibly doing it.
And yet, Darlin’….he will still be confirmed! And, and, and, and…Carolina, how will you feel when that happens? And be honest about your disappointment.
We’ll see but you are going to be paying for a generation or more if he is. You’re already losing voters by the ton and you’re going to keep losing them. The only voters you seem to have a lock on is white evangelical voters and even here in GA that’s only 38% of the voters.
I’m in the for the long haul. Kavanaugh being confirmed is going to do nothing but make me more determined to make the GOP pay for what they have done to the country. And I vote and I will make sure all my friends vote and conservatives can walk to the polls for all I care.
Great display today by Kavanaugh of refusing to shake the hand of a parent who lost their son to gun violence. If you think that is going to play well then you need to get otu of your bubble.
Parent of kid killed is being used as a tool by the Libs. Glad he didn’t fall for it.
Of course, acting like garbage always wins points with conservatives these days doesn’t it? If he had shaken the guys hand and moved on nobody would have said anything. Now he looks like even more of arrogant putz than he did before.
I’ll tell you exactly, Carolina! They lied on their citizenship applications! Nexxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxt!
Who knew a child could lie on his or hers birth certificate?
Trump ran against the entire Republican party. Who is “we”, dipshit?
The 63 million Real Americans who voted for Trump!
Oh, the old Bob Barr slur about “real Americans” as if anybody who doesn’t vote the way I think they should isn’t a “real” American. The reality is they are probably less American than anybody else in the country simply because they hold Anti-American values.
Real Americans who are proud their flag was planted on The Moon, you revisionist moron!
Caroline, are you saying the libs at this hearing, the in your face rants all over the country, much less the hateful rants on this blog are NOT acting like garbage?
Oh, speaking of acting like garbage, why don’t you explain to us your hateful comments about how republicans are for ethnic cleansing?
Between you, Matt and Andrew its hard to see who can say the most hateful, absurd things.
DTM why can’t you explain to me why Trump and the GOP are attempting to REVOKE the citizenship of people who are now citizens? You know what? I really wish I was just poking at you with that stuff and not writing facts.
And Dick’s sporting goods defying the gun lobby and it goes on. Even corporate public relations departments know it’s good business to go against conservatives these days.
And just wait before Ginsberg announces her retirement in early ’19! Awwww Nawwww!!!
How many times do we have to tell you that Ginsberg has said she is not retiring. Considering the fact that Gorsuch and Kavanaugh were possibly put on the court by your buddy Vlad it’s possible that they could be removed from the court.
Thanks. Saved me from having to correct your girl there.
As I have said previously, you Caroline, have to be a troll. No way anyone is really this stupid.
Dude, you’re running around apologizing for a guy who thinks you’re mentally retarded because you live in the south. I don’t think you would recognize a troll if one jumped out from under a bridge at you.
Uh Caroline what citizen is having his citizenship revoked? Sorry is missed that breathless story. How can someone become an Uncitizen if I don’t wanna?
Oh now tell us how I support ethnic cleansing too while you are at it. I was also accused of supporting slavery yesterday by some over the top tolerant lib!!
Wait it’s coming back to me …you little darling, were saying conservatives support pedophilia too!!! Please help with that pearl. Do you think anyone in this country supports slavery and pedophilia? So what gives? Or maybe you are pretty much just lobbing a few monkey turds like I saw at the zoo yesterday and at the Cavanagh hearings! I digress …
All I have said is I think these liberal claims are absurd and think the liberal agenda is almost impossible to sell to anyone that knows history because it’s results around the world have been diasterous.
Now I like my odds of this litttle disagreement.
Go ahead . Your turn. The coffee sure is tasty this morning!
“Do you think anyone in this country supports slavery and pedophilia? ”
.
Well, Hillary does. She’s been running that child slavery sex ring out of the basement of that pizza parlor and everything.
You are awake Andrew! Good for you. Please tell us again how Matt Ryan and Tom Brady are chattel property slaves of the NFL!
Please expound oh learned one…
Then tell us how Jackie Robinson hated the chance to compete in the Major leagues.
I want to apologize Andrew! I screwed up and blamed him for the asinine comments that Matt made about the chattel property, slavery and the NFL.
Bof of deez dudes say some of the most hateful illogical gibberish that I have ever seen so I apologize for the mix up!!
We haven’t heard from Dr. Matt who made those brilliant comments about slavery and I notice that none of the other liberal buddies have not rushed to his defense for some reason…
Last one on Matt …for a few minutes. Do you notice that he was sniveling that conservatives had about half of the posts yesterday?
Now I have been told that this blog was about 90% liberal chatter in months or years past…
Now doesn’t the orange Cheeto complain that his press coverage is 95% negative?
So maybe if a few other conservatives come out on the blog and give ole Andrew about 95% conservative voices for the next 50 years then maybe he will know what it’s like!
Something about walking a mile in a guy’s shoes…
You’ll have to excuse Matt. He’s subbing for Herman in the hearse on a trip to Boot Hill. However, Dr. Munster will be with you shortly!
LOL! Since you’re Jewish, practicing, no less, I’ll use a term you’ve been referred to your entire life, Drew you’re a Shmeckel, pure and simple. Whether I have fifty or not, my vote will always cancel yours out!!! Awwwwwwwww Nawwwwwwwww! and you hadn’t wasted all them three million extra votes in NY and CA, your gal would be Prez if yall campaigned like you had a freaking brain!! Instead, she’s having to be hefted up stairs and into cars!
It tough enough to defend positions and policy promulgated by a lying ignoramus of low character without having to be associated with people that take delight in it.
Oh wait, you mean like” owning” the libs? … That really does sound like real “chattel property” instead of imagined or made up!
Racist, racist, racist!
Some early excerpts from Bob Woodward’s book on Trump are coming out:
“Sessions has often found himself in Trump’s crosshairs for his recusal from any involvement in the probe of Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.
But Trump also criticized Sessions for his southern accent, reportedly mocking it and saying of his own administration’s attorney general: “This guy is mentally retarded. He’s this dumb Southerner … He couldn’t even be a one-person country lawyer down in Alabama.”
Trump also called Sessions a “traitor” for recusing himself from the Russia probe, which is led by special counsel Robert Mueller, and putting Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein in charge of oversight.”
“NBC News had reported in April that Kelly called the president an “idiot” behind his back.
Kelly denied the report at the time, calling it “total B.S.” But Woodward’s book repeats the claim, according to the Post.
In a small meeting, Kelly reportedly said of Trump: “He’s an idiot. It’s pointless to try to convince him of anything. He’s gone off the rails. We’re in Crazytown. I don’t even know whe any of us are here. This is the worst job I’ve ever had.””
“Trump reportedly questioned why the U.S. was spending money and military resources in the Korean Peninsula during a National Security Council meeting in January.
Defense Secretary James Mattis responded: “We’re doing this in order to prevent World War III.”
Woodward reportedly said Mattis was “particularly exasperated and alarmed” after the meeting, “telling close associates that the president acted like — and had the understanding of — ‘a fifth- or sixth-grader.'”
“John Dowd, who was the main outside lawyer representing Trump in Mueller’s Russia probe, reportedly told the special counsel in March that he wanted to stop Trump from testifying in the Russia probe because “I’m not going to sit there and let him look like an idiot.”
Dowd told Trump later that month: “Don’t testify. It’s either that or an orange jumpsuit.”
But Trump reportedly told Dowd he would be “a real good witness,” to which Dowd replied: “You are not a good witness … Mr. President, I’m afraid I just can’t help you.”
Dowd resigned the next morning, according to the Post’s timeline of events.”

I’m buying a copy on September 11.
Thats going to leave a mark…I didnt even think it was THAT bad.
WAPO write up

Another part
A near-constant subject of withering presidential attacks was Attorney General Jeff Sessions. Trump told Porter that Sessions was a “traitor” for recusing himself from overseeing the Russia investigation, Woodward writes. Mocking Sessions’s accent, Trump added, “This guy is mentally retarded. He’s this dumb Southerner. … He couldn’t even be a one-person country lawyer down in Alabama.”
At a dinner with Mattis and Gen. Joseph F. Dunford Jr., the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, among others, Trump lashed out at a vocal critic, Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.). He falsely suggested that the former Navy pilot had been a coward for taking early release from a prisoner-of-war camp in Vietnam because of his father’s military rank and leaving others behind.
Mattis swiftly corrected his boss: “No, Mr. President, I think you’ve got it reversed.” The defense secretary explained that McCain, who died Aug. 25, had in fact turned down early release and was brutally tortured during his five years at the Hanoi Hilton.
“Oh, okay,” Trump replied, according to Woodward’s account.
With Trump’s rage and defiance impossible to contain, Cabinet members and other senior officials learned to act discreetly. Woodward describes an alliance among Trump’s traditionalists — including Mattis and Gary Cohn, the president’s former top economic adviser — to stymie what they considered dangerous acts.
“It felt like we were walking along the edge of the cliff perpetually,” Porter is quoted as saying. “Other times, we would fall over the edge, and an action would be taken.”
After Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad launched a chemical attack on civilians in April 2017, Trump called Mattis and said he wanted to assassinate the dictator. “Let’s fucking kill him! Let’s go in. Let’s kill the fucking lot of them,” Trump said, according to Woodward.
Mattis told the president that he would get right on it. But after hanging up the phone, he told a senior aide: “We’re not going to do any of that. We’re going to be much more measured.” The national security team developed options for the more conventional airstrike that Trump ultimately ordered.
Some of Mattis’ words are similar to the Tillerson word that cost Tillerson his job when they became common knowledge. Mattis has the uniform going for him, so it may take more laughter before Trump blows a gasket.
The more that comes out the worse it gets. And we still have Omarosa who apparently taped everything for an entire year. She can probably back up anything Woodward has with one of her tapes. LOL.
I’ll bet your so excited that you’re having to cross your legs, otherwise you’ll let out a tinkle!
I’ve already tinkled!
To quote Rick Wilson “What you’re seeing in the Woodward book is that the Cabinet essentially already activated the 25th Amendment. The just didn’t tell us.”
That is what it says alright!
This is considered yet more damage being hurled towards the GOP. None of them are going to be able to shake the stink of Trump off of them.
Between Woodward’s and Hillary’s books,
Stomuy, CNN all day long and Amoroso… Haen’t we heard every darn bit of this before?
If I was a liberal I would be wondering how someone that is as stupid as a fifth grader keeps kicking my ass! I might look in the mirror and wonder what’s wrong with me?! Just sayin’!
When will be the daybthat Cavanagh gets confirmed?
After we watch the liberals do their clown show and circus act for a few days, will it be next week?!
Would anyone like to go with me to the zoo and watch monkeys throw turds at each other rather than watching he hearings?
Just before Trump is found guilty of schooling the Liberals ass and thrown in a Turkish prison?
Aaaawwweee nnnnaaaawwww!
Would anyone like to go with me to the zoo and watch the monkeys her of turds that night that he is entertaining is watching the Libs the next few days! Actually I think watching the lives will be funnier.
Doing this on a cell phone with that timer is a —-itch! Got to spit out the gum before I do this again!
An update on the museum fire in Brazil Teri linked in todays reads… The meteorite was not harmed. (thing that over for a bit…)
It was entertaining watching the dems embarrass themselves this afternoon. It will be even more entertaining watching Kavanuagh intellectually run circles around the dems tomorrow. And it will be most entertaining watch Justice Kavanaugh get sworn in as associate justice.
So you’re the 1/3 of the country that thinks it went well. Glad to hear it. Most people don’t agree. However maybe since you think he’s so wonderful you can tell all of us why Trump is hiding 100K pieces of his correspondence. Is he a criminal or something? It will all come out eventually. We do know that he lied in a previous hearing.
LMAO at YOU, of all people, accuse anyone of lying.
Oh, and yea. It went extremely well for Kavanaugh. The dems? Not so much.
Only the Trumpers think things went well so that explains your thinking on all of this. The guy thought he was not going to be challenged, came in with a sanctimonious smirk on his face and then had it completely wiped off of him. Then he acted like a small and petty man but then you would think that is great too. You can try to gaslight and say things went great but it’s not going to work. Of course, whether it goes great or not is not going to matter to Republicans since they really don’t stand for anything other than “making liberals mad”. LOL.
Good try. Your comments were so absurd that it is hard to conceive you could even think what you said.
However at least you mention that you might be completely wrong on this. I think you are. Others may feel otherwise but I doubt it and no one has tried to defend it.
How can you argue Tom Brady and Matt Ryan are slaves because they excel at football. If you cant why is it any different from a black player? That in itself is horribly racist.
You will have to say Jackie Robinsons efforts were for naught because he was black and just a slave victim. Its sheer idiocy. He was a victim when he was DENIED the ability to compete! Not when he HAD the ability to compete.
Is the NBA an example of chattel slavery any more than Major League baseball or hockey? The PGA.
Honestly anyone can pursue any damn thing they want to in this country today. No person and no organization is there to stop us from doing anything. So this victimhood crap has to stop.
The biggest problem with races today is poverty and a ton of it has to do with personal choices. Not someone else keepig them down. Just be honest. If you just stay in school, work hard and don’t get pregant or anyone else pregnant by the age of 25 or so, you have a shot at a grand life in the US.
No other county on earth comes close. Why in the hell are folks busting their ass to come here if not?
I have little patience for folks that want to whine and complain about the US as you can tell. We aint perfect but no country anywhere else comes close.
You may not hold your nose and thank Trump…but more and more are for good reason. Keeping that socialist agenda at bay and having more freedom and less regulation are great things.
Do some folks have advantages over others? Yes. That will always be the case. But anyone claiming we are a country keeping anyone down these days is mistaken in my humble opinion.
I do honestly think some liberals do not want race relations to dramatically improve for a simple reason. How in the hell can they get anyone so riled up to go vote for such a lousy economic model and a negative view of this country? It is a hard sell not many will want to buy.
Downthemiddle, perhaps I’m mistaken, but I don’t recollect Caroline arguing Brady and Ryan are slaves.
.
Race and Brady and Ryan had nothing to do with the Caroline post your responding to. (And where’s Race Ranger Noway when his tally needs updating?)
.
You should consider consulting with a doctor since this is at least your fourth go or so at the Brady and Ryan thing, and it’s the second time today when it’s been part of a response to a comment that had nothing to do with race. The timing is such that it may be sundown syndrome.
Caroline, take a whiff of some smelling salts and answer this. Why is the democratic party weaker today in this country than any time in the last 100 years? Hmmmm?
Something might tell you that your hate filled, race-baiting socialist agenda is a hard thing to sell or swallow. Good luck.
DTM you have not been watching what has been happening in elections in the last year.
The comment I made about the NFL and chattel slavery was that I think the reason why that blacks are so over-represented in the NFL is due to the legacy of slavery. I did not mean to cast this in some eugenics light. Since American slavery is only four generations removed I think it is highly plausible the physical characteristics advantageous to football may be a product of the slave trade. This does not mean I think black males are less qualified for other occupations.
I did not mean that NFL players are slaves in any sense of the word. Still, my intended post and this explanation may be controversial and I admit that I might be completely wrong about this.
Andrew, why should I give up anything? YOU and another pearl are the ones that say all of the hateful crap all day long! Not me. Matt, at least he mentioned that he may be wrong once in a while. I am too. BUT NOT YOU LITTLE BUDDY!
Good Lord….I am not sure what to say to you that I have not said already. I would think most folks would find you to be one of the biggest jerks they have ever met! I have met quite a few folks in my life but you are right up there for sure!
I have no idea where that chip on your shoulders comes from but it sure is there.
I honestly like being around most folks. Most folks have some redeemable qualities and often a sense of humor. If you do, you sure hide them well.
By the way, what kind of IQ do you think your BMs have? Just curious.
Don’t change at all little buddy. You literally epitomize the radical leftist agenda in this country today. You know your buddies here would have to admit that as a salesman for their agenda, YOU SUCK! Folks will run away in droves.
You epitomize the pink hat, snowflake rage all rolled up into one bundle. Please keep it up!
I can’t wait for my next warm cup of coffee to see the latest rant! I have to admit you and Matt have been over the top, even for you guys the last few days. Congratulations!
Peace.
Do make that doctor appointment. I’d guess Andrew commented perhaps a half dozen times over the holiday weekend, and I don’t recollect any over the top, even by your standards.
2:52 am? Wow! Go to sleep and quit waking up your girls with that noisy keyboard!
More plausibly African Americans simply want to and work harder at exceling in football on a level playing field (double entendre intended). The field is certainly not level with respect to many opportunities outside sports, especially when considering the roles of parental educational and economic status in evaluating opportunity.
.
African Americans make up about 14% of the US population. The fact that in 1986 nearly 20% of major league baseball starters were African American and only 8% were African American in 2016 indicates culture and cultural changes have a significant role. Latino participation in professional baseball has steadily increased as African American participation has decreased.
Matt sounds like old “Jimmy the Greek” Matt. He was fired from doing NFL games 25 years ago for making racist comments.
I thought the libs had “advanced” from their horrible racist past…. Matt are you saying if those blacks hadn’t been out picking cotton and working in the fields, they wouldn’t be so fast and strong? Is that your point?
Help clarify. Those are NOT my beliefs by the way.
Oh, this is funny from the Woodward book:
Kelly’s predecessor, Reince Priebus, reportedly called the presidential bedroom where Trump does most of his tweeting as “the devil’s workshop.” And, according to the book, Trump said of Attorney General Jeff Sessions, “This guy is mentally retarded. He’s this dumb Southerner.”
So all y’all Trump supporters here in GP he thinks you guys are a bunch of morons.
The devil’s workshop…that is flat out scary…Some libs seem to be atheist (some conservatives too I am sure) do they believe in the devil ? I would think not since the Lord and the devil seem to be a little out of this world.
Can any atheist help me here?
I’ve long said your average Georgia voter is dumb as a bag of hair. Native Georgian Trump supporter can’t even comprehend an insult. It’s what you’d expect in a cult.
.
Assume the position.
Smack.
Thank you sir may I have another?
.

Trump says Woodward has credibility problems…
something something about glass houses….
and then the anonymous New York Times op-ed from a WH official more or less confirms the basics of the statements Woodward collected. Probably fake news, of course.
Of course, I thought the Op-Ed was about some commenters here at GAPol when it stated that “[commenters] veer off topic and off the rails…engages in repetitive rants, and…results in half-baked, ill-informed and occasionally reckless [comments]”.
Now I know why some of y’all have man-crushes on him. It’s the joy of looking in the mirror.
He would have def been informed of the “whispers” about invoking the 25th amendment…
Totally unhinged!! LMAO!
What exactly is unhinged?
The author? The existence of the story itself?
The speculation as to who the source is?
Or your revelry in any of the circumstances?
Because the story and your revelry seem par for the course nowadays.
But if you think the story is just made up, then I would think your connection to the world of evidence is unhinged. I would at least prepare a bug-out bag for your mind in the event it all turns out to be true.
From the ongoing use of the Playground Playbook for Puerile Presidents:
“The individual behind this piece has chosen to deceive, rather than support, the duly elected President of the United States. He is not putting country first, but putting himself and his ego ahead of the will of the American people. This coward should do the right thing and resign.”
To rephrase: “I’m not egotistical- you are!”
It’s so clearly a projection of the Presidents’ character.
How can you know that, you ask?
Just as a starter, notice the assumption that the author of the piece was a man.
That’s an easy way to see that the WH speculation is just their unconscious admission of Trump’s character- which means that he doesn’t put the country first. In fact, it’s clear for just those words that Trump puts himself before the Country, and can’t tolerate anyone who sees it differently. (An innocent person would say, OTOH, “I don’t what this person is talking about. I also believe the Country comes before the President.”)
It’s also like they didn’t read the Op-Ed itself, because then they would realize the writer has a grievance that he in fact values country. But no Suggestion Box for this President!
Also, of course, if SHS is the leaker, she would be more than happy to let everyone think it was a man who wrote the op-ed…
Possible op-ed authors:
1–Mike Pence. He wants to be potus now. Deep state gopers are prepping him to give the 25th amendment a go.
2–Stephen Miller. It’s a false flag operation. Part of the effort to conflate the nfl with America. Gotta get the base to the polls.
3–goper apparatchiks. They’ve realized that once the current shitshow ends they may need another job, and they’re justifying why they’re hanging on.
4–Christopher Steele. Continuing his efforts at fiction.
5–No one. What op-ed? Never happened. Fake news.
Well your absence was sure nice but I am kinda missing your shrillness. I am in a pretty mild mood this morning after reading my devotional this morning.
You know sort of turning the other cheek and waiting for the monkee hurls to begin!
One two three …go!
Just last night you were commented on the Andrew’s posts over the weekend. Again, you really ought to check into sundowner syndrome.
Come on Dave, you can better than that. Heck, Andrew, Matt and Caroline are making you look rather flaccid so to speak on the insult meter!
Come on, crank it up!
I am watching the grilling of Facebook and Twitter this morning before Congress. Speaking of trying to suppress free speech just on this blog, can you find any instances of conservatives crying and trying to get the liberals to pipe down and ban their free speech here? Not nary a one. I enjoy the most ugly monkey hurls!
Has anyone kept count on the appeals to mommy and the authorities to ban conservative dialogue here? Hmmm. Why is that?
A dumb southerner? Oh that hurts. More insults and by gosh that hits closer to home!
Glad I am not from Alabama or Mississippi or that would have really hurt my feelings.
Is it just me or has any lib offerered anything at these hearings or on this blog or for midterm campaign anything other than accusations of racism hate and insults!?
I might have missed it over all the gnashing of teeth…a little Biblical lingo…
I am going to have a hard time waking up to go vote in time before the polls close for the libs in November. Is it just me? They usually offer free crap —a little walkin’ around chedda you know? Now they takin’ away the few crumbs I got from Norway’s TGM…
Trump on Jeff “Short Bus” Sessions: “This guy is mentally retarded. He’s this dumb Southerner . . . He couldn’t even be a one-person country lawyer down in Alabama.”
.
Someone that cult members otherwise refer to as “the best and the brightest”
Trump would find a fine place on this blog!
“Short Bus” Sessions…That is pretty cute. Catchy even!
I hate to admit it but we have accused one guy we play golf with who has darker skin than I, of riding the “short bus”. He actually called it the “shote bus” ….We even accused him of licking the windows on that bus in freezing weather…Getting his tongue stuck…
I know that is sophomoric but we all did get a laugh and no one shot each other…
We should be ashamed of ourselves…
Good thing he didn’t call him ‘deplorable’. That would be unforgivable.
Do you see while we just laugh at all the name calling? Deplorable?! Really! We call ourselves worse things every morning! Yeah Y’’all need to ramp up your game or go home.
You have to remember that most Trump supporters are not your typical limp wristed, sniveling snowflake types. We can dish it out and we can take it.
Yes, the ‘it’ seems to be all you are interested in, unfortunately.
Good point! Trump only insulted one guy who arguably has not done a very good job… On the other hand, the Hildabeast, with her lousy personality, lazy work ethic, her un trustworthiness and horrible political instincts, succeeding and pissing off at least half of the country and lost A rigged election! I admit that is hard to do… Twice… And maybe a third time if we’re lucky.
I normally wouldn’t defend Hillary, but I’m not sure why you think she’s lazy. My concern is your asymmetric disdain for her, but you may be fine with a Pres. playing golf 3 days a week or whatever. Plus, literally every descriptor you gave Hillary also describes perceptions of Trump. I know you don’t like his personality, so…why not hate both Hillary and Trump equally?
Trump clearly gets them excited.
Maybe they’ve just been barking up the wrong tree, so to speak.
I think there is a chunk of misunderstanding/stereotypes/prejudice about Southerners among some Northerners. I wonder if Trump admitted to saying it, would he then be viewed as an out-of-touch New York elitist?
If you have a southern accent you are mentally retarded according to Trump. So I would think he’s calling you, Noway and others here mentally retarded. Brian Kemp is apparently mentally retarded too.
Darn, another insult from Caroline!
Poor ole Noway is retarded!! I guess he types with a southern accent and has been ridin’ dat shote bus!
But at least he was smart enough to make 20 grand off Nike’s plunge when they hired that liberal hero, Colin “take a knee” Kaepernick!
Here is a picture of ole Noway spending some of his easy cash flow! His boat is the bomb! Hey Noway what numbers should I play on the lottery tonight?!
When it Rains it Pours! Noway can pull some fine babes!
Hey Caroline, are you going to expound on how conservatives support ethnic cleansing like you declared the other day?
I wanted to compare it to the Germans and the holocaust.
Its not nice to hurl insults that you can’t back up. Just ask Matt and Andrew.
Noway, do you think these brilliant libs will ever get tired of getting that a– beat by all of the things that they have called us?
Would you want to tell your mom or dad you just got whooped by a person that was retarded (the most recent insult and not something to joke about if you ask me) a racist, a MFer, a liar, a murdering ethnic cleanser, a child molester, a women hater, a misogynist, a gay person, a gay hating person, an impotent person or someone that is just plain stupid?
I sure wouldn’t. But that is just me.
If you were a radical socialist lib, do you think it would be a good idea for some self refection?
They got nuthin’ but insults. No surprise there! And the folks ain’t putting up with their s**t anymore. The Great Man pushes back after every one. Fake news, anonymous Op-Eds. Voter suppression efforts at its worst.
You didn’t read about the people that had their passports taken from them because they were Hispanic? You didn’t see where Trump is going to attempt to strip citizenship from Hispanics that are already citizens? It’s pretty obvious that he sees anybody who is not white as inferior.
Dude, that’s Trump that’s calling you mentally retarded not me. I guess this is why Trump thinks you’re mentally retarded because you can’t even tell who is insulting you.
“can’t even tell who is insulting you…” LOL! So far, that would be you, Drew, B, Balance and Dr. Munster.
Noway, I don’t try to insult you, just most of your posts.
Today’s offering from the Twitty Pulpit gives us some choice irony:
“Isn’t it a shame that someone can write an article or book, totally make up stories and form a picture of a person that is literally the exact opposite of the fact, and get away with it without retribution or cost. Don’t know why Washington politicians don’t change libel laws? — President Donald Trump
This from the jumped up salesman who pulls “facts” out of his ass at everyone of his ego rallies. Oh, about those libel law changes, one word, birther.
Somebody told Trump much that much of his base has a drawl, so he tweeted:
.
“The already discredited Woodward book, so many lies and phony sources, has me calling Jeff Sessions “mentally retarded” and “a dumb southerner.” I said NEITHER, never used those terms on anyone, including Jeff, and being a southerner is a GREAT thing. He made this up to divide.”
.
So who are you going to believe, your own eyes reading serial liar Trump’s twitter feed that called Chelsea Manning a traitor, or his 14 May tweet that included “leakers are traitors and cowards, and we will find out who they are!”, or Bob Woodward.
.
Thank you, establishment Republicans, the nation is grateful for the support you give to MAGA.
Speaking of Trump’s serial lying, last night talking heads were discussing that Trump’s lawyers, after trying to prep him to meet with Mueller and answer questions, then argued to Mueller that Trump was unfit to testify under oath because he couldn’t help but perjure himself.
Lol! More fake polls!!
http://www.nbc-2.com/story/39022942/poll-finds-floridas-race-for-governor-is-too-close-to-call
Actually, this Kapernick thing sure was good for Ol’ Noway! LMAO!! I bought puts when I heard Upper Colin was gonna be the new face of Nike!!! Covered ’em today! Made me a tidy 20k!!! Awwwww!!!! Nawwwwww!!! Should I be feelin’ White Guilt at my windfall?!
Hey, when your a legend in our own mind, like the cult leader…..
To quote the GOP-all-the-way coworker…”Holy F’ing Cow”.

To quote David Frum:
If the president’s closest advisers believe that he is morally and intellectually unfit for his high office, they have a duty to do their utmost to remove him from it, by the lawful means at hand. That duty may be risky to their careers in government or afterward. But on their first day at work, they swore an oath to defend the Constitution—and there were no “riskiness” exemptions in the text of that oath.
The person writing that has sold the country down the river just as much as Trump himself has.
Presumably it’s an appointee and if so, he’s failing to do his duty to his office and the country on two counts.
.
He’s failing to act to seek removal of a dangerous and unfit President.
.
He himself is choosing what is to be done and not done in contravention of his duty to the Executive Branch.
.
When you’re a Republican, rule of law is what you need it to be to accomplish Republican ends.
I don’t see how my comments were in any way “racist”. That sounds like what the crazy leftists do whenever a taboo subject is brought up.
Hell, we all can trace our roots back to Africa if we back far enough.
And I think people are much more related by blood or marriage than most people even imagine.
Topical article given the recent comments from the President and Congress trying to get in on the act:
https://www.wired.com/story/free-speech-is-not-the-same-as-free-reach/
A couple of excerpts:
“These algorithms are invisible, but they have an outsized impact on shaping individuals’ experience online and society at large. Indeed, YouTube’s video-recommendation algorithm inspires 700,000,000 hours of watch time per day—and can spread misinformation, disrupt elections, and incite violence. Algorithms like this need fixing.
But in this moment, the conversation we should be having—how can we fix the algorithms?—is instead being co-opted and twisted by politicians and pundits howling about censorship and miscasting content moderation as the demise of free speech online. It would be good to remind them that free speech does not mean free reach. There is no right to algorithmic amplification. In fact, that’s the very problem that needs fixing.
To see how this algorithm amplification works, simply look to RT, or Russia Today, a Russian state-owned propaganda outlet that’s also among the most popular YouTube presences. RT has amassed more than 6 billion views across 22 channels, more than MSNBC and Fox News combined. According to YouTube chief product officer Neal Mohan, 70 percent of views on YouTube are from recommendations—so the site’s algorithms are largely responsible for amplifying RT’s propaganda hundreds of millions of times.”
