On Saturday, I received a robo call from 2020 insight. It said it would take five minutes, but lasted nine minutes.
Chris, the robovoice of 2020 Insight, said that it would be a survey. You were asked to respond to a series of statements about the candidates for District 81 in the Georgia House, Scott Holcomb and Ellen Diehl. All of the statements were complimentary towards Rep. Holcomb, and derogatory towards Ms. Diehl.
One of these statements said that Ellen Diehl has a life sized cardboard cutout of Donald Trump in her home. Whether this is, or is not true, has no impact on her ability to represent the 81st district in the GA House of Representatives.
It is a sad moment when a politician insults an opponent by saying she supports the President of the United States.
It is sad, but it’s also more or less standard practice for the last, let’s say, almost 250 years of this country’s history.
Sounds like in the survey that they were floating whether such a statement would be good messaging to actually use. My guess is that they thought that having a cardboard cutout was strange (or unique) enough that they thought it may have a different impact than the usual “supports the divisive agenda of Trump” type of stuff.
It may not impact her ability, but it sure would illuminate her perspective.
Her ‘positions page’ is pretty centrist sounding, but if she is actually a Trump acolyte, this is something voters deserve to know. Make her deny it.
I mean, Repubs invoke Nancy Pelosi for every race from dog catcher on up.
.
I suspect 99% of the races this fall will be about Trump one way or another.
B,
I forgot to mention a few weeks ago, but I saw your avatar on the big screen- the Midtown Theatre had a special showing of the original Muppet Movie.
Great actor that Zoot.
That’s funny!
Don’t be fooled by a webpage. She’s a full-blown Trump supporter. Ellen Diehl, Republican candidate for State House District 81:
.
“…Barry Soetoro Hussein Obama was Muslim, let him say what he wants. Let him go around going (makes high-pitched tongue trill) or whatever they do. I don’t think that Michelle is going to wear a burka. She’s ugly enough to wear a burka. Oh, I said it. And she gonna need an extra large. Did you see how big her butt was on Inauguration Day? I said it.”
.
Secretly recorded without her knowledge? Was she tricked? Neither, it’s from a webcast she prepared and posted sometime prior to announcing her candidacy.
.
The GaGOP keeping it classy, in the manner of its dirtbag leader.
Is this a coordinated move to put Kemp vs. Atlanta? https://www.lifezette.com/video/atlanta-mayor-orders-termination-of-ice-relationship/
Of course it is. It shows Bottom’s Snowflakery in not working with ICE and a roundabout way to turn Atlanta in to a Sanctuary City. Real Georgians ain’t gonna put up with stuff like this! Deplorables turnount just increased, oh, about 2%!!
“Real” Georgians. LoL.
Dems should take that word and notion back and make it a central part of their messaging.
Also, I bet you have no idea of what a “sanctuary city” means – per the law.
Also, I bet you wouldn’t have the courage to call Bottoms a snowflake to her face.
Snowflake lies about his courage?
As in the Dim version of “Real Georgians” wanna disband ICE?! God, pulllleeeeezzzeeeee go with that message!!!! Deplorables voter turnout would increase another 2%!!!!! Be still my heart…
No, most real Georgians are down with going after violent criminal immigrants, but also are probably good with the Dreamers. But that may be too nuanced for you.
More importantly, most Georgians wouldn’t list that as election issue #1 or #2. So, you focus on issues #1 and #2 (jobs/economic security and health care) and you show that that’s what Real Georgians care about.
Easy.
“Be still my heart…”
Now that is something we can both agree on!
“Sanctuary Cities” are where multiple-times-deported thugs go to murder innocent Americans!! That’s all “Real Americans” need to know! I’m calling to get my absentee ballot process started today!
Your level of understanding is sad.
Not surprised.
But I would support better arrangements bw local govs and ICE where the local govs want a better framework.
You’d think you’d support getting better deal!s
So according to you “real” Georgians are down with ICE’s baby snatching ways and leaving children vulnerable to sexual abuse and pedophiles?
Kemp v. Atlanta is not an effective lens.
Atlanta and GA much more nuanced than that.
If the decision has any impact on the gov race, it will be bc Kemp raises it.
It would be a more difficult message to say it makes Kemp v. Efficient and Compassionate Governance.
“Kumbaya, My Lord…Kumbaya…”
Pedophiles again? Really? ….Edith just stifle please!
Well, there is a solid argument that separating children from parents is a form of emotional abuse and neglect. And ICE detention facilities have a history of problems with sexual abuse.
https://theintercept.com/2018/04/11/immigration-detention-sexual-abuse-ice-dhs/
There are certainly problems that should be addressed.
Hopefully all Georgians would agree to stop such problems, regardless.
Computer models are all over the place in showing where Hurricane Florence may land…
https://www.wunderground.com/news/safety/hurricane/news/2018-09-10-hurricane-florence-forecast-us-east-coast
Only because TGM hasn’t told it where to go yet!
MHGA!
Can’t they be more specific??!! Sheesh!
I would be terrified of a hurricane hitting me in this political environment. Trump will do a piss poor job of responding and more people will die than should. In fact, any disaster is a scary proposition with this inept, corrupt administration in place. I pray for those who will be affected by Florence.
Bob Woodward the other day: We had better pray we don’t have a crisis happen.
Pray? A Lib?? Now that’s funny!!
So you agree with the crux of the statement that we would be in big trouble with Trump at the helm? Everybody knows he’s unfit for office. Well, I should say about 2/3 of the country thinks he’s unfit for office. The other 1/3 thinks Putin is a swell guy who has America’s best interests at heart.
Yes, the creator of an observable universe consisting of 10 trillion galaxies with at least 1 septillion stars (24 zeros) only accepts prayers from those of a conservative political persuasion in one country on one planet in said universe.
I can’t believe these cowardly, craven Repubs are gonna vote to put Kavanaugh (Kava-awww-nawwww) on the Supreme Court. The dude is a perjurer and Trump has him over a $250,000 (baseball tickets LOL) barrel. He’s trying to corrupt the judiciary just like a mobster. This criminal enterprise has gone too far. Where are the statesmen? This guy could never get confirmed under normal circumstances. He committed perjury multiple times. Lordt!
There are no statesmen in the GOP. The only solution to the problem is vote out as many Republicans as we can.
There is no statesman on the democratic side. The last two I can think of were Sam Nunn or maybe Lloyd Bentsen. Since then listening to any of them is hard to do.
Adam Schiff has been a true statesman but since he is saying things you do not like I’m sure you will disagree.
I have not seen a more dishonest lying crook who tried to collude with fake Russians to get dirt on Trump! He got punked! This is more collusions with Russians than Trump ever did!
I think the guy is creepy and was almost going to use a word you throw around all the time.
Would you like to hear a tape where Schiff is trying to get dirt on Trump from Russian sources? (This are comedians by the way) Some biased statesman this moron is.
Why am I not suprised you believe Russians over Americans.
Dems should demand all emails to or from Kavanaugh that were kept on Smartech’s server! When Congress investigated the Bush WH’s firing of 8 US attorneys, it learned the Bush admin. had used Smartech for its emails & deleted 22 MILLION of them. They were retrieved in 2009.
Here is a Snopes article re: the deleted and then retrieved 22 MILLION emails from the Bush administration. These deleted emails were not retrieved until 2009 and have never seen the light of day. https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/g-w-bush-lost-22-million-e-mails/
Per Craig Unger (editor Vanity Fair, author “Boss Rove”), the millions of missing emails were on RNC servers owned by Smartech: “Rove and more than EIGHTY OTHER WHITE HOUSE STAFFERS had their emails hosted on … [the] SmarTech servers.” https://harpers.org/blog/2012/09/boss-rove-six-questions-for-craig-unger/
Kavanaugh was associate White House counsel for the Bush administration from 2001-2003 and staff secretary for the Bush administration after that. Kavanaugh was very tight with the Bush administration. He represented George W. Bush in the case that blocked the hand recount in Florida after the 2000 election. https://www.mypalmbeachpost.com/news/brett-kavanaugh-florida-ties-elian-2000-vote-recount-terri-schiavo/KW4h9QMoAZd7mogcLv7AdP/
It was Kavanaugh who woke up George W. Bush in the middle of the night to have him sign legislation to keep the body of brain-dead Terri Schiavo alive against the wishes of her husband.
As we learned from questioning by Leahy, it seems that Kavanaugh lied in 2004 & 2006 about his receipt of confidential documents stolen from Democratic Congressional staff members re: George W. Bush’s judicial nominees. https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2018/09/judge-brett-kavanaugh-should-be-impeached-for-lying-during-his-confirmation-hearings.html
Rove, who apparently kept 95% of his own emails on the Smartech server, seems to have held Kavanaugh in very high regard. https://www.crivellawest.com/CWNetCollections/bush/pdf/Transcriptdocs/Rove/RExhibits.pdf
It makes sense that Kavanaugh, like Rove and the 80 or so Bush White House staffers, would have used Smartech for his emails.
Meanwhile, the New York Times has confirmed that Russia DID hack the RNC. Per Comey, the hacked emails were supposedly just some “OLD STUFF” hosted by …. wait for it… SMARTECH!!!! https://www.nytimes.com/2017/01/10/us/politics/russia-hack-hearing-clapper-rogers-brennan.html
So Democrats really need to ask Kavanaugh NOW whether he used Smartech for his emails and, if so, demand to see all of them on the basis that we cannot have a SCOTUS judge subject to potential blackmail by Russia.
P.S. Senator Lindsey Graham apparently had “news clips” and “campaign releases” on the Smartech server that was hacked. Perhaps there was more. It would explain a lot…
P.P.S. Smartech was also the company that received Ohio’s election results in 2004 due to a computer “glitch.” The backup server that sent them there was created by Rove’s IT guru Mike Connell. https://www.mcclatchydc.com/news/politics-government/article24508330.html

Questions from Democrats about Smartech are long overdue, and the Kavanaugh hearings provide an opportunity to raise them. It is critical that they seize this opportunity bc we need to know if Russia might have kompromat on Kavanaugh. If so, this should defeat his nomination
The entire line of inquiry would also serve the important and necessary function of shining a spot light on the very real potential that Russia may have kompromat on various Republicans in Congress via the confirmed hacking of some “old stuff” on Smartech’s server. I don’t know for sure that Kavanaugh used Smartech for his emails. But there is a good possibility that he did. Likewise, there is a good possibility that he received emails from others who used Smartech.
YOUR DAILY REMINDER THAT TRUMP IS A MOBSTER.

For all of you boycotting the NFL and didn’t see this…
https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2018/09/10/aaron-rodgers-packers-bears-fmia-nfl-week-1-peter-king/?cid=eref:nbcnews:text
(also, Da Bears. Still. Suck.)
Great post Ellynn. The bears still suck!
No one noticed because all of the press could report on were the 3 Miami Dolphins that took a knee—not to protest violence…it was to somehow stick it to Trump.
Just a bunch of haters….the liberals and the press…Just leave the rest of us alone so we can enjoy our lives without hassle from that group of miserable schmucks!
Actually the Packer game was one of the top stories on most major news outlets. Fox News was carrying how much they hated Carrie Underwood’s new SNF opening song.
I started watching the NFL just to support their support of social justice ¿
(that upside-down question mark is the best I could do to indicate sarcasm- some thanks due to whomever posted that MR about punctuation a couple weeks ago).
Of all the coverage I saw, I saw not one thing abt ppl kneeling. Not one thing. But I don’t watch Fox News- which has a vested interest in manipulating the issue. So, DTM, consider yourself manipulated.
I did hear one comment abt Carrie Underwood- from the broadcast booth. I didn’t see it though.
Libs are whining about Serena williams losing a tournament because she is a black woman! Will you guys ever give it up? She got her a— beat just like Hillary ! No excuses!
Never mind she lost to an Asian woman. Can any radical lib explain the outrage here? You guys get so torqued up all the darn time that normal folks can’t keep up with the twisted logic!
I thought it was Climate Change. Can’t they make their minds up? https://www.nytimes.com/2018/09/04/climate/roger-federer-loss-heat.html
Actually, the woman who won is actually biracial, with Haitian-American (some would call it African-American) heritage.
The disagreement is about whether Serena should have been penalized the way she was (a whole game in the second set). Many professionals have come out and said the penalties were out of line with precedents of penalties given to men.
So, yeah, just like Hillary, she got beat.
But, also just like Hillary, was it all clearly “fair and square”?
That can- and may always- be up for debate.
Now stop whining about other people speaking their mind, or about people investigating what is “fair and square”.
It should be noted that without investigation, we’d never learn ONE thing.
But some prefer to live in ignorance, I guess.
I’ve heard Serena=Hillary several times, all from the wingnut media. You must be on their mailing list.
btw, speaking of sports in America, how’s that Nike boycott working out for you?
If you bought stock on Tuesday when it dropped, you’re doing well.

PSA: While not a blade of grass has been touched as yet or even a few barrels strewn about the speed limit on I85 within Braselton’s city limits (roughly Hwy 211 to north of Hwy 53 exits) has been dropped to 60mph in advance of adding lanes to the interstate. A few construction signs have been up for a month or so with most still covered with black plastic. The speed limit drop occurred last Wednesday and Braselton has been out there with at least 2 of their 50K Explorers each and every morning since. I have a favorite fishing hole up that way and have a fly fishing buddy in town so we’ve seen these boys in action and they are certainly making hay while the sun is shining. This is a stretch that almost everyone drives at 79mph or more and many even more. Double fines and possible super speeder penalties to boot. One could very easily hit a 4 figure ticket. They should change their usual sirens to ♫♪ Happy Days are Here Again ♫♪.
I thought some legislation was enacted at some point to let the State Patrol handle the interstates. I know years ago they stopped Mountain View from fleecing the Yankees on I75. Was this law or just a tacit agreement?
I’m going to put in an off season request in advance to anyone at the state level who hasn’t dismissed this forum as yet because of the kooks. Georgia needs legislation that allows the extra penalties for construction area violations to only be in effect when lights are flashing indicating that actual construction is indeed underway. This is the case in many other states I’ve driven through. I understand the need for dropping the limits especially when lanes are narrowed, etc. However the fines should not be increased unless they are protecting actual workers, and then they should have even more sting, I don’t care if they quadruple them.
The city of Arcade left construction barrels up for years on Hwy 129 on the way to Athens from I85. God only knows how much money they hauled in until the state made them raise the limits to the norms for a 4-lane. I say this because they didn’t write the tickets as a state violation but a local one so that there would be no revenue sharing involved.
I haven’t had to handle a case like that in GA, but years ago I handled on like it in AL. Their law said that for the increased fines, etc., that there had to be actual construction work going on. I had to dig into DoT records for evidence.
IANAL, but… as I read § 40-6-188 – Highway work zones; reduction in speed; signage, those being stopped currently by Braselton might be able to escape the construction fine doubling as there are currently no workers/vehicles present or any barriers, drop offs, or the like as yet. However there is nothing in there like other states have which require flashing lights or some other indication that workers are present, much like a school zone. I can only assume that Arcade’s “barriers” were the barrels. Face it though, the way most municipal and county traffic courts are conducted most will simply pay the fines. Lawyers take even more money and then there is the lost time as many require the loss of the bulk of two business days to plead not guilty even if you aren’t hiring an attorney.
Regardless of the recent bantering between Heckle and Jeckle regarding the “libs”, (anyone who does not agree with their every word), not caring about civil asset forfeiture I have been opposed to Policing for Profit for decades. I think it is demeaning to professional law enforcement to have to sing for their supper and help pay for their existence by meeting quotas and exploiting the law for profit. I first linked this site of the Institute for Justice years ago on PP and now they have a 2nd edition of their “Policing for Profit: The Abuse of Civil Asset Forfeiture” pages that I highly recommend: https://ij.org/report/policing-for-profit/
If you go to that link you might notice that while Georgia has finally passed a couple of bills attempting to tighten up reporting of civil forfeitures we still get a “D-” grade with our meager reforms. I haven’t looked recently but I doubt much has changed in Georgia with about 90% of the forfeitures being in the hundreds of dollars which again negates the hiring of an attorney for the average Joe. Your money is considered guilty until proven innocent and unless it is an amount that can interest an attorney you are pretty much screwed. Ditto with a lot of the traffic citations.
More FBI sleaze…
https://dailycaller.com/2018/09/10/strzok-media-leak-text/
This is more collusion with the FBI than they ever showed with Trump! This thing has blown up.
Before the release of documents related to the Special Council investigating Trump later this week, is there any liberal that still thinks it was an honest, unbiased investigation?
How many people from the FBI and Justice Department will be prosecuted for crimes and sent to prison? My over and under would be 6.
Wake up and smell the coffee!
Why drink coffee when you’re on an all Kool-Aid diet?
This is mainly for Elynn, but if any of you are in Savannah, get a burger at the Green Truck Pub! They wonderful real burgers and the best veggie burger I’ve had
I’ll be down there in a couple of weeks. Will try to check it out! I already want to try the Greek style.
And I will recommend Stockyard Burgers in Vinings. Wow! Great onion rings too.
