- Some are concerned that Civil War naval artifacts in Columbus aren’t being properly stored and preserved.
- “Reading The New South.” Click here for excellent links.
- The billionaire who is behind the National Debt Clock in Manhattan thinks that we should tax the rich.
- Lincolnalia!
- I will never store my tomatoes in the fridge, and I rinse most fruit and berries in a vinegar wash before I store them, but the rest of these fruit and vegetable storage tips are decent.

Georgia’s coast is a dynamic process. 15,000 years ago the coast line was 70 miles east of Brunswick, along the continental shelf.
We can slow down the erosion but we will never completely stop it.

Correct. The seas have risen 400 feet since he last Ice age. All without man’s intervention. How is that possible? That is some serious global warming isnt it? Thank God. It allows the world to have 7 billion folks on the planet right NOW!
Try feeding 7 billion during the next Ice Age…which is overdue. Now there is your climate problem. Not the warming.
Pass this article as well on to the panic stricken liberals… Maybe they can rest at night and not have to retreat to their safe spaces…Or sound like idiots and blame Trump or Bush for a freaking hurricane. Only a blithering nitwit would buy into that. Well if the shoe fits on this blog you have to wear it.
Maybe this would work in rural Georgia.
40 acres. BYO mule.
If you were a baseball team they give you the mule and build the barn as well.
That’s kind of how GA came to be in the first place.
From Dana Milbanks’ column Sunday. It’s about an anchor, so it’s timely, given all the water in the Carolinas.
,
“President Trump is getting his wish: It’s all about him.
.
The election, that is.
.
New evidence indicates that the midterm elections in seven weeks will be the clearest referendum on a president in at least 80 years.
.
But while it may delight the narcissistic president that the 2018 midterms are entirely about him, this is precisely what his fellow Republicans were hoping to avoid. With Trump’s support at historic lows — 60 percent overall disapprove of his performance, including 59 percent of independents — Republicans scrambling to hold the House and Senate have been struggling in vain to make the election about other issues: tax cuts, Democrats’ personal foibles — anything to avoid the election being about Trump.”
.
But about Trump it is. A vote for 96% of Republicans at any level of government is a vote for Trump. 80% embrace him, and 80% of the rest are subservient. Be a Trump tool and MAGA by voting GOP.
MAGA – My Attorney Got Arrested
I lay this comment by US District Judge Amy Totenberg in Kemp’s lap:
“The State’s posture in this litigation—and some of the testimony and evidence presented—indicated that the Defendants and State election officials had buried their heads in the sand.”
The man has been incompetent in business and political office. Why would we want a governor that can’t do anything right?
The R, man, the R. And he’s not a socialist.
I didn’t see a link to the story anywhere else, so:

I think, for all intents and purposes, this means we’re going to be stuck with the current machines and software- susceptible as they may be- for this election.
I doubt Kemp will do anything so much as run Malwarebytes on the system before election day. Why would he?
Since I have no real confidence in the voting system anymore, or in Kemp, or in the machines, all I have is thoughts and prayers that the election results are accurate and reflect the actual votes. But there is already evidence to the contrary (like that county that counted way more votes than residents. Not to mention evidence of hacking by powerful foreign operatives.)
So, here’s to another election where we won’t have full confidence that the winner actually won.
Thanks Kemp!
OR hacking within the state…or worse….https://medium.com/@jennycohn1/georgia-6-and-the-voting-machine-vendors-87278fdb0cdf. And yes, I’ll keep posting this until some of ya’ll read it.
(tin hat removed, resuming regularly scheduled program.)
Well, don’t vote then. That way yor vote can’t be hacked. Sinple.
I hope that’s the Republicans’ plan.
Advice from the resident simpleton.
1) Russian hackers “targeted state & county offices responsible for administering the U.S. 2016 elections. For example, on or about 10/18/16, [they] visited the websites of certain counties in GEORGIA, IOWA, & FLORIDA to identify vulnerabilities! https://www.wsbtv.com/news/local/atlanta/feds-confirm-russian-hackers-targeted-two-local-counties/799147881
2) Russian ambassador Kislyak visited Kennesaw University, which housed Georgia’s Election Center, in April 2016. http://editiondigital.net/publication/?i=349618&ver=html5&p=28#{%22page%22:%2228%22,%22issue_id%22:349618}
3) In August 2016, Secretary of State Kemp refused help from the Department of Homeland Security to secure its systems! (GA was one of only two states to do this.) https://thehill.com/policy/technology/293522-two-swing-states-decline-dhs-security-for-voting-machines
4) The same month, August 2016, a white hat hacker Logan Lamb discovered the Georgia Election Center had left 15 gigabytes of data, which looked like it could be used to hack an election, online and without password protection. https://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2017/06/14/will-the-georgia-special-election-get-hacked-215255
5) Merle King, GA Election Dir., told Lamb that he shld “drop” his shocking find “or the people downtown, the politicians..will crush [you].” (Id.)
6) King told Lamb he would fix the problem. (Id.) Again, this was in August 2016.
7) Per the indictment released today, in October 2016, Russian hackers “visited the websites of certain counties in GEORGIA, IOWA, & FLORIDA to identify vulnerabilities.” https://www.politico.com/f/?id=00000164-946d-d96d-a564-946f99db0001
8) In April 2017, about a week before the #GA06 primary election (Handel v Ossoff), the director of Fulton County’s Election Board (Rick Barron) — who had recently observed elections in Kazakhstan — was chatting on Facebook with a woman in Moscow named Julya Kudaneeva. It says “You are always welcome in Moscow” and is from Kudeneeva to Rick Barron, Director of Elections for Fulton County Georgia.
9) Someone by the name of “Yulia Kudaneeva” is apparently a Chief Consultant to the Russian Election Federation.
10) Recall that it was a “rare error” on a memory card in FULTON COUNTY, Rick Barron’s county, that caused the counting stop when Ossoff was head the night of the primary. https://www.ajc.com/news/local-govt–politics/rare-error-delays-fulton-county-vote-counts-6th-district-race/dleYXJvjL1R9gSsw1swwAJ/
11) Before the counting stopped, Ossoff was above 50% and poised to win the primary outright. When it started again an hour or so later–after the card was “processed,” he was under 50% and thus forced into a runoff with Handel to whom he eventually lost.
Johnny Isakson was fine with no hearing on Merrick Garland for 11 months, and then with prompt affirmation of Kavanaugh with a ton a information made available at only the last minute or withheld altogether.
.
Now, Isakson said he’s “not going to discuss who, what, when or where with anybody until all the facts have come out” with respect to his support of Kavanaugh This is exactly the sort of information a prompt affirmation was supposed to keep buried. MAGA, Johnny, MAGA.
It’s like if the plan was to snag a cookie from the cookie jar, then you get caught as you’re eating it, and then you say with your mouth half-full that you can’t finish the cookie until you properly analyze the ingredients because you believe in eating only healthy foods.
Typical.
Poor Johnny, always parrots the party line..until the party line changes.
There is a reason why the GOP has been hiding Kavanaugh’s paperwork. We’re now seeing everything they wanted hidden bubbling up to the surface.

The camel that was used as a launch platform died too!
On Dark Money, “State Sen. Josh McKoon, a Republican and a member of the group, said he worries that outside money will decide major elections in Georgia. “I have a problem with it, and I don’t care who benefits from it,” McKoon said. “The idea that we are going to allow unlimited amounts of money to be spent on state offices by people from other states, I don’t understand the rational to that.”
No, McKoon, you only have a problem with your opposition getting outside money. You would have no problem with unlimited dark money coming to you or your party campaigns. Perhaps these good folks are just exercising their “Religious Liberty” right to campaign against your evil as defined by their religion.
He should drop the worry. As I understand it the supreme court upheld the lower court decision that donors have to be revealed.
Outside money is bad, lessen of course it’s corporations. Their full citizens of every state they operate it. You try to be a citizen of two states at once and see how that works. Besides, it’s not as if Coca-Cola is earning only 1% of its revenues in Georgia or anything.
So women’s pay is raising (slowly)… options and benefits… Not so much.

I don’t fast again until some random Wednesday in February. But enjoy your water today.
May it be an easy fast.
Apparently the servers which interface in some way with our voting machines are running Windows 2000. Now, that’s an LOL! Microsoft doesn’t even support XP anymore.
I do realized the individual voting machines are not connected to the internet but I’ve read that this would not prevent them from getting hacked.
Brian Kemp is a total boob.
There are probably multiple ways to alter vote counts on those things.
1. Don’t zero them out properly at the start.
2. Virus in the software that loads the ballot.
3. Alter the vote count that is transmitted at the end of the day.
4. Alter the voting record in the electronic poll book so that people aren’t shown in the correct precinct, or appear to have already voted.
.
We should have fixed all this by now. Another failure of Kemp’s.
First Republican calls for Kavanaugh to withdraw.
https://www.nbcnews.com/think/opinion/brett-kavanaugh-should-withdraw-his-nomination-good-supreme-court-country-ncna910221
Also worth pointing out is that Kavanaugh is apparently criminally exposed because you can be tried as an adult for attempted sexual assault in Maryland and as mentioned before there are no statutes of limitations. He has hired a lawyer.
Good luck finding a DA willing to try a man based on 36 year old he said/she said allegations.
It’s more than he said/she said despite what you want to think. There was another person in the room who also can be tried or flipped. Kavanaugh obviously thinks it is a problem since he has retained an attorney. I would think you wouldn’t hire an attorney unless you thought you were criminally exposed.
Hiring a lawyer is probably a good idea regardless, even if just to get help– to investigate, be there for questions, help with public relations, etc. He is certainly probably busy enough already. But it would also help with any potential exposure issue- including perhaps reviewing his sworn testimony.
But I also don’t think finding a D.A. would be too tough. Prosecutors gonna prosecute. And finding one willing to make a public statement? Easy. And there is certainly enough evidence to start one if they wanted to. Sexual assault cases are always difficult to prosecute, I believe, because there may not be much to go on beyond the victim’s account. But in order to make a big statement, and with the possibility of corroborating evidence? An easy case for victims’ advocates to justify.
Kavanaugh was 17 years old, he would not be able to be charged as an adult. Especially since there was no physical injury reported.
The only possible trial would be civil litigation for duress. But I do not believe the victim wants to proceed with any more publicity exposure.
Actually from what I have read attempted rape done by anyone over the age of 16 in Maryland can be tried as an adult. So he would be able to be charged and tried. As far as his accuser, yeah, she us getting death threats and had to move and has had her email hacked probably by Trump’s Russian operatives so you’re probably right about her not wanting to pursue anything. However I would think a DA in Maryland could pursue it as criminal and I’m not sure how that would work.
No gonna happen. Nor should it. Caroline I honestly question your sanity.
I guess all anyone needs to do to stop any Supreme Court nominee is write a torrid old “Penthouse letter” to an idiot liberal Senator and then no one gets on the Supreme Court!! That’s it!
Forget about true hearings. If you are a lib you just hire numbnuts to go scream at the hearings and hand them a little cash for showing up…which is exactly what happened. Liberals have ruined the confirmation process for Supreme Court nominees now for 25 years and counting. It gets worse every time. More proof that anything the libs touch they destroy.
Looks like the gal making up the charges is going to chicken out after all. I hope she shows up. Don’t you all?
She has asked for the FBI to investigate. Kavanaugh has not. You don’t get to demand when someone shows up. You call them and work out a time. This is yet another example of GOP authoritarianism over women. This has been such a disaster for the GOP that Ivanka is now telling Trump to dump Kavanaugh.
If the Senate is the one holding hearings, sorry, Sweetie, they do get to determine when testimony is to be heard. So, this woman levels the most serious of charges, and now will not testify? This is despicable. Hopefully, Deplorables and Dregs will be incensed and even more motivated. Early voting begins October 15th.
Why am I not surprised to see a condescending statement about this from a conservative? Why don’t you want the FBI to investigate Kavanaugh? Because you know what she is saying is true. And his co conspirator is declining to testify. Why is that? Why are you okay with the GOP demanding Ford come at a certain time and not even requiring the co conspirator to testify? The people that are going to pay if they put Kavanaugh on the court is the GOP. I guess you have not looked at his numbers. We know the association between anti-choice ideology and treatment of women. We know conservatives think that women should not have autonomy over their own body. You’re just proving it to anybody that might be on the fence.
Sure, they schedule the hearings. They can also take as much time as they want for any hearing, or coordinate schedules with witnesses as much as they want (note: it’s just common courtesy to work with others on the scheduling), etc.
So, it’s the Repub leadership’s choice to ram this through. I don’t think ramming things through has ever played well before. But there’s no way I’m going to predict how this plays out politically- not yet.
Am hearing the following: “If she don’t show, the committee vote’s a go!”
Awwwww Nawwwww!!
You may be hearing that, but not from me.
I think the political calculus on this issue is really difficult.
Does anyone see the extreme hypocrisy in this headline?! Does it make any of you want to throw up?
https://news.grabien.com/story-hillary-kavanaughs-accuser-deserves-benefit-doubt
Are you just reading the headline?
And No.
Gun Totin’ Granny! Yeah, baby!!!

Kavanaugh’s spokesperson says that it was just “rough horseplay” basically conceding that Dr. Ford is telling the truth. And they’re using the preppy murder defense.
https://www.cbsnews.com/news/how-brett-kavanaughs-supporters-are-defending-the-allegations-against-him/
Fake news, Sweetie! Keep posting your crap! LMAO!!!
Why haven’t we heard, “It was only one time”?
Cause it didn’t happen. Keep up these kinds of tactics, Dave. Please.
Kavanaugh acts like he is guilty. Why isn’t he asking for an FBI investigation? Because he knows he did it.
The “rough horseplay” excuse has been used by others accused of assault.
So it at least make sense in terms of what may have happened, and how people could walk away with different stories.
“Rough horseplay” were not words offered by Kav. He’s denying the incident ever happened.
Correct, it’s being floated by a supporting organization.
But, I don’t think Kavanaugh’s denial says there was no party or interaction with the alleged victim. I think it says he essentially never covered her mouth or committed assault or attempted rape. That actually leaves open the possibility of an interaction where he can admit to “rough horseplay” without admitting to assault. But if his denial was intended more broadly, like he was never at the party– that’s a different story.
For info’s sake, here are at least pieces of the two denials issued:
1) “I categorically and unequivocally deny this allegation. I did not do this back in high school or at any time.”
1) “I have never done anything like what the accuser describes — to her or to anyone. Because this never happened.”
Y’all will love this, but the extent of those denials depend on what the definition of “what” or “this” is.
Gotta love the legal-speak.
But word is that he denied- in private meetings- ever even going to the party…
I want everyone to read Caroline’s post here. Then look at the note written in CRAYON supposedly by Kavanaugh asking if she will be his girlfriend!
Go ahead. Look at the handwriting…. This looks like a 2nd grader or younger. So this guy is writing in Crayon in high school? And this somehow proves something?! Yea it proves something…anyone believing this article is a freaking fool. If the shoe fits wear it. If you are dumb enough to post this, shame on you.
I want to know how folks can support folks willing to lie, cheat and steal to achieve their goals. Who believes the accusations against Bork? Who believes Clarence talked about a pubic hair on a Coke can? How about this babe saying she got tag teamed by Kavanaugh and a buddy and she cant remember when or where? Oh and at the last minute.
And he writes a message in Crayon to the “victim” to see if she wants to be his girlfriend. This might even be low for CNN and the New York Times but I doubt it.
Hey why don’t you get the FBI to help you with your storyline. At least something more plausible. Maybe leak it to the newspapers and use that as evidence that the word is getting out!! Is anyone sick of this horse manure yet?
Looks like we will be seeing how even MORE corrupt the FBI, the left and others are as soon as more information is released…
The only story more full of crap is the charge that Trump took a tinkle on the bed Obama and Michelle slept in while in Russia, then used that baloney to spy on him, frame him and ruin him before and after his election.
How do any of your supporters rationalize your support for this type of activity? Come on, we know some of the radical libs on this blog do!
Are you talking about Don Jr.’s tweet that was an obvious attempt at humor?
Or at least obvious for those with brains?
And for me, also an obvious attempt to mock and minimize a serious allegation.
Of course, only you would notice the 3rd grade tweet from Donald Trump Jr. and not read the story where the Kavanaugh apologists sound just like you do.
Wellllllllll, looky here! Dem seat gets flipped!!! Awwwww Nawwwwww!
https://m.mysanantonio.com/news/local/article/Polls-close-at-7-p-m-in-Senate-District-19-13239398.php
Come on folks. I wanna hear a lib that is supporting this Crayon “horseplay” nonsense much less the accusations by this gal. The timing, the Borking… step up to plate Andrew. Matt. You have to believe this chain of events. Your leadership is calling you to action.
Or maybe even you guys are sick of such atrocious activity by the radical left.
By the way, if I thought Kavanagh was guilty I would say he should face the music and I would not be defending him like the libs did Clinton (both of them), Ted Kennedy, Weinstein, the CBS guy, Franken the doofus Senator from Minnesota, much less any Kennedy for that matter over the sexual abuse of women.
And Keith Ellison NOW!
See above comment about Don Jr.’s tweet being an obvious attempt to mock.
But it is a fake note.
So no one, excepting you, actually believed it to be real.
As for the timing- so what?
So Dems want to delay the vote?
So what?
Dems are using the little power they have to do whatever they can to accomplish what they feel is right?
It’s not elegant, but it’s also not so different than much of anything that either political party has done over and over.
So, yeah, politics is muddy by nature.
And, yeah, Kavanaugh has to listen to the music to know if he has to face the music. So what’s the real issue in having more evidence presented?
Won’t even delay much.
Franken was a light weight compared to Kavanaugh. Nobody accused Franken of attempted rape. And as far as the Clintons go, you don’t understand the difference between consent and nonconsent like most Republicans don’t. There’s a reason why you guys think it is fine to give sexual assaulters LIFETIME appointments to the supreme court. All the others can be handled by voters but conservatives have made sexual assault something to be lauded and abusers given special privledges.
