30+ Democrat Women Pen Letter to Kemp, Call for Him to Denounce Kavanaugh
A group of Democrat women in the Georgia political arena are wrangling a national issue into the Georgia governor’s race.
The women are calling on Secretary of State and Republican candidate for Governor Brian Kemp to “rescind his support for Judge Kavanaugh to the U.S. Supreme Court.” In early August, Kemp penned a letter in his official capacity as Secretary of State, urging for confirmantion of Kavanaugh. You can read his letter here.
The letter, which is signed by a number of elected officials and activists, was sent Tuesday and later distributed by the Democratic Party of Georgia as a press release. The full letter to Kemp is below.
Mr. Kemp:
Last month, you submitted a letter to the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee in support of Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination to the U.S. Supreme Court, and in that letter you said Kavanaugh had a “clear understanding of the proper role of a judge” and “all of the personal qualities that we must demand from our Supreme Court justices.”
Recent developments have shown that your praise of Judge Kavanaugh could not be further from the truth.
Not only would Judge Kavanaugh pose a direct threat to Georgia women’s ability to make their own health decisions, he would also follow your lead in allowing insurance companies to deny guaranteed coverage based on pre-existing conditions.
Most importantly, your unwavering support for Judge Kavanaugh’s character was misguided given the credible information brought forth by multiple women and the need for every woman to be heard.
Amid “what all is going on in Washington,” as you put it, your own failure to support Georgia women and your unwillingness to stop sexual assault in Georgia cannot be ignored.
Therefore, we, the undersigned, call on you to immediately retract your support of Judge Kavanaugh.

Shouldn’t they let this play out first? It seems these accusations aren’t exactly the homerun the Dems were looking for.
If the claims were going to be investigated as part of a background check, then we could let it play out. Short of that, I think there are probably other candidates out there.
So someone isn’t qualified after an allegation? Even if it’s not true? While it may be proven to be true, it seems this letter is premature. Not surprised, but premature regardless.
There are multiple allegations and, judging from his yearbook entry, they are at least plausible. Again, we can investigate the allegations and wait for their outcome, but the senate and the White House have made it clear they don’t want to do that. Given that there is no neutral fact finding happening, we should err on the side of decency. He may be qualified, but there are probably better candidates out there. These allegations would hang over every decision he writes.
And anybody expected a bunch of Democrats to say anything else but the party line??
If by ‘party line’ you mean treating accusations of assault seriously, well then, yeah. We’ll own that.
That is a joke, Right? You selectively take accusations of assault seriously. So own that one.
The Senate committee apparently is willing to accept Mark Judge’s (not under oath) statement of support without any evidence or corroboration, but the first known accuser is asked to testify under oath and provide corroboration. The other accusers are just being dismissed outright.
How can they accept the statement of support but not accept the statements of accusation? Either they accept all the statements or they get everybody in there to testify. It should be the same standard for all potential witnesses or implicated parties.
So who is being selective?
Just nominate Hardiman and lets move on with our lives. He’s a right-leaning Bush appointee but a pretty close like-for-like to Kennedy. I get that McConnell wanted Scalia to be replaced by someone on the right (Gorsuch) and not the center (Garland), but wouldn’t a less controversial, non-DC frat boy be just as acceptable?
Democratic is the adjective you’re looking for. Not Democrat. It really undermines your credibility from the start when you reveal that you’re willing to twist the simple rules of language while making an argument. It makes the reader question your judgement. What other mental and logical contortions will the substance of your views have gone through in order to be pressed shape you want?
Heck no. You cant do it. Don’t reward dishonest antics like this.
All anyone has to do now is accuse any nominee of rape 36 years ago right out of thin air, no evidence no nothing and ruin his life and have no way to clear it. No innocence until proven guilty. No repercussions. It heads to the gutter. It already has. Another foundation ruined by the left. Let the left move to Venezuela where they can find folks they agree with.
Don’t let them get away with it…again.
“dishonest antics like this…” Merrick Garland would like a word with you….
Good old reliable Lib, Jack. Jack, Garland fell victim to the Biden Rule. Nothing dishonest at all. Get over it.
No.
“Good old reliable Lib” suggesting that Thomas Hardiman be nominated to the Supreme Court.
The best you can hope for is to be called a RINO. Get used to it, whether you consider yourself a Republican or not.
And just to be clear: this will apply to Trump, too, if an opening occurs in 2020. The next elected prez makes that appointment.
It’s not rape, and Kavanaugh’s life won’t be ruined. He goes back to his regular job as a federal judge. As you have been told numerous times already, this isn’t a trial, it’s a job interview.
Biden. Did anyone make up stuff to destroy him?
Let’s just parse this question.
1. ‘Anyone’. Well, yes, people probably have made up stuff about Biden during his career.
2. ‘Make up’. Who is making stuff up? Classic straw man- you already assume the story about Kav is made up and go from there.
3. ‘stuff’. This isn’t just stuff. It’s assault.
4. ‘destroy him’. This won’t destroy him.
.
So everything about this question is a fantasy.
Here, let me put some nice Andy Griffith Show on the screen for you. You just sit back and relax.

Put on Matlock!
Kemp woudl be wise at this point to denounce Kavanaugh unless the GOP pulls him and that ends the discussion.
