I have a fairly nuanced view of his views on religion and Islam, but I struggle with whether or not having guests like Milo or Bannon are the way to go. I think I feel differently abt Milo than abt Bannon.
But he challenges them face-to-face, and does show how civil discourse is possible even with ppl you may feel very negatively about.
Granted, he’s no Jon Stewart, whom I miss on the regular.
Maher and Hillary are prime examples of why the democrats lost. So arrogant and pointing out the speck in someone else’s eye and not see the Redwood tree growing out of theirs. If anyone thinks left wing populism is nothing more than government control, misery, poverty and hatred they are uninformed. Freedom is a good thing.
Freedom is a good thing. There’s probably about 120 million women that wish they had as much of it as you and me.

Investigation will provide some evidence one way or the other.
There’s also existing circumstantial evidence which corroborates the testimony. Even Kav’s calendar entry circumstantially corroborates by bolstering Ford’s credibility. Then Ramirez and other accusers will corroborate, although Kav’s friends may deny. But there is easily going to be enough evidence that the right thing to do is put it in front of the “jury”. It’s just not an impartial “jury”.
Interesting thing is Ramirez gave the FBI the names of 12 witnesses.
White Priv – Not a conundrum when it comes to education. Our schools are not equal and education is a one chance opportunity. Just picking a statistic for convenience, a parent that selects a school where the average 3rd grader performs at a 4th grade level instead of a diverse school where 70% of the 3rd graders are not “proficient” is a sane rational choice knowing at what level the class is being taught. There are lots of afterschool sports and activities that provide chances for kids to be part of their community. Diversity is not an excuse for accepting less than mediocrity in education.
I think most people would sympathize with parents trying to do what’s best for their kids. But if they feel guilty about that there are ways to help out; become a mentor, or coach, or just donate or join the PTA of a less privileged school.

The attitude that “it’s somebody else’s problem” is what keeps us from getting better.
Kavanaugh testified everyone Ford says was there denied it: “Dr. Ford’s allegation is not merely uncorroborated, it is refuted by the very people she says were there, including by a long-time friend of hers. Refuted.” The plain truth of the statements of everyone there was that they didn’t remember it. Not the same thing.

A person that doesn’t understand a distinction as basic as that is unfit to be a judge.
Ford’s allegation is unproven. The thing about it is that Kavanaugh made his character a central part of his defense and his argument for why Ford should not be believed, then lied over and over about his character. An FBI investigation isn’t really necessary since him lying about anything should be the end of the issue as far as the Senate is concerned. It’s rich that Kavanaugh’s Devil’s Triangle lie is that is what Ford accused Kavanaugh of.

Ford’s allegation has indeed destroyed Kavanaugh’s reputation, and may cost him his job, not because the allegation was made, but because Kavanaugh’s response to it exposed him as a partisan liar.

1. Trump and the Republican congress just put billions of dollars in the pocket of the 1%. Now they can buy more elections.
2. “Liberal judges” have required people treat other people with respect and have followed the US Constitution and Bill of Rights. The conservatives have tried to exclude folks from elections and are trying to reach into our bedrooms and our bodies to control our behavior.

Kavanaugh portrayed himself as having been a shy, studious, churchgoing virgin who worked a summer job and focused on community service and team sports. I wouldn’t be calling him a liar if instead of squeaky clean, he presented himself as a bit wayward but subsequently redeemed. He tearfully portrayed himself as not just innocent but an innocent, a man for whom drunken lechery would have been utterly unthinkable and appalling, when it clearly wasn’t.

There are a lot of folks who think this is just abt his drinking in high school days- they would love for it to be just about that.
But it’s about the assault allegations first, and then about whether he is able to tell the truth right here and now.
But we’ve already seen that lying is not disqualifying for elections.
Note to DTM. It started well before college, and being often stumbling drunk, belligerent, and a puker is a bit more than drinking beer. That doesn’t disqualify Kavanaugh, but lying under oath, partisanship, and inadequate judicial temperment do.
What is inadequate judicial temperament?
Temperament may seem like it’s entirely a matter of opinion, but it involves maintaining impartiality and independence at every stage, giving fair hearing, etc. For the Supreme Court, the expectations are even more clear, because there are no trials, there won’t be any frivolous cases, etc.. And every case is important- so Justices would be expected to afford respect and solemnity for all parties and decisions. Yelling, angry diatribes, and partisanship all weigh against the desired and expected temperament for a S.Ct. Justice. Kav’s temperament was more suited for a show like Judge Judy’s.
Has he shown a bad temperment at his other judicial position?

What stones? Me, I drank too much a couple times in high school in 1974 or 1975, and many times in college in the late 1970’s and early 1980’s. When the legal drinking age was 18 years old throughout, not as Kavanugh misrepresented the dirnking age when he was a senior and in college. Blacked out at least a few times in college too.
