It’s not a statue, it a bronze relief on a monument. It is very funny, until its your tax dollars being used to remove the adhesive with out damaging 170 year old patina that protects the bronze. If they can do a basic clean it’s going to run about $1000. If the protective patina layer is damaged, they have to pull the whole relief and have it restored. That could be around $40,000.
There is no “getting the better of him” with Perdue. Perdue is an entitled hack and that episode with the phone is just another example.
Yeah, when other ppl let “frustration get the better of them” in the way that Perdue did, they might just get arrested for battery.
For some reason Republicans are afraid of people asking questions. He would have been better off just walking away. He would have still come off as an entitled hack but he wouldn’t have been recorded attempting to steal a phone.
He was just upset that he couldnt go hide in the Men’s Room.
The getting the better of him excuse worked when a Montana Congressman punched a reporter, so it certainly ought to cover Perdue’s snatching of a phone.
Also we shall see if Trump is going to make good on his promise to pay $1 million out since Warren has proven she has Native American ancestry. I wouldn’t hold my breath though unless he has a charity he can steal the money from.
I think he already detracted his “promise”.
But the DNA results will be irrelevant to Trumpists. They won’t even stop calling her the racist slur that they do. Just because it will now be provable overt racism won’t make it taboo. Wouldn’t be significantly different than the implied racism that has already been engaged in.
Because attacking people’s physical characteristics and genetics is just what they do.

Executive summary: A guy (Austin) was suspended during a sexual harassment investigation. During the investigation Austin’s brother was caught threatening the accuser, at which point Austin was fired. After an arbitration hearing he was reinstated (he’s a Teamster). Then, after being reinstated, Austin rounds up some co-workers and sues their supervisor (Tumbleson) for racial harassment.
I’m pretty sure stuff like this happens at almost any decent sized company, and the neither the CEO or anyone else can prevent someone from filing a lawsuit.
I don’t find it at the level of Stunning that Charlie does. Both sides are full of hypocrites.
I find it at the level of ‘what are you doing…’. If one of your stump points is related to ‘What if Kemp has a Me Too moment” (which so far there isn’t one), the LT Gov. might become the Governor, and it has been known since June you have a business relationship with a company that MIGHT have committed Me Too related offenses, why do you even in the first week of October keep throwing stones into the Kemp windows when your own glass has nothing to stop the impact of “What if Amico might have a Me Too related Moment”? Not only is it a bit hypocritical of her, it’s just bad political staging.

Charlie wrote a bunch of stuff with no attribution, and somehow Karen Handel knows her opponents car registration details. We are in the age of ‘just make stuff up’ if you want to. Once again, you prove lack of ability to comprehend. The Cherokee nation statement was about DNA’s relationship to citizenship, and stated that you can’t use the former to claim the latter. Warren never claimed to be a tribal citizen. And the Cherokee nation drew a line about using DNA to make claims to even heritage. Fine. That’s a matte of interpretation.
I think the reality of the past is clear. A number of generations ago, a Native American married into or otherwise genetically entered into the Warren family gene pool. So, her family story is true, and the Cherokee nation’s standards are necessary. They have to draw those lines for their own survival.
Also, vague memory, but I believe there is some beef between Warren and some tribal nations based upon her intent to honor her genetic heritage but that she hadn’t done enough policy-wise to honor the tribal nations. So she stepped up those efforts, but it would be naïve to think politics wasn’t involved.

You don’t realize that many Native Americans have roots in Mexico and Columbia? I guess you’re not aware or are too racist to realize that Native Americans actually migrated much like humans do to this day. I’d be surprised if he knew that Native Americans (and European-Americans) were living in Mexican territory in what is now Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado and California, prior to the Mexican-American war.
Way back, in the time of Native Americans like the Aztecs, tribes were on both sides of what is now the Mexican-American border. Those open borders would have made some folks on this blog pee themselves.

I guess I need to see them in the legalese we used to get as I still can’t tell if I’m fer ’em or agin’ ’em without the specific language. And why do we need to have an amendment for school boards to call for an ESPLOST? Gwinnett has had one for years in perpetuity. Why did we not need an amendment for the legislature to give tax money to private schools via the tax credit shell game or to give charter schools who get to choose their students the same money as public ones who have to accept all comers?
My question – are they really amending ESLOST for separate public school systems in the same county or is this an additional city or school direct area sales tax beyond ESLOST? Does it allow for ANY school system spending – as it looks like it is worded in the ballot (like increasing pay for coaches) or is it still limited to select ‘Capital Improvements’ and paying down bonds?
We need an amendment because it is a voters choice for increase sales taxes, not a general line item.

You can use a contact trees for a Voters Drives connected to a religious organization as long as the organization(s) are not backing a candidate directly. In my hometown, the Knight of Columbus, The Jewish Heritage Society, and the Retired Lutherans Assoc. are running joint busses from their clubhouses or centers during their weekly lunches, meetings, hobby classes, afternoon rummy and Sheepshead games, to the courthouse for early voting. On election day, they will run vans or personal cars to the polls to whoever contacts them in the city regardless of who they are. The Retired Educators Association, a few retired unions groups, are using their email lists to offer rides also. Mom is going with a group after her monthly retired educators lunch in 2 weeks.

The fish is a light beer batter haddock and perch in a cornmeal coating with lemon butter. The chicken uses a schnitzel style coating. The salad bar has more things pickled on it then you knew could be pickled. Sides choices include bowls of dill based and hot German style potato salads, thin cut home fries (bacon grease is involved), potato cakes (very thin latkes basically) with apple butter, green beans with walnuts, steamed cauliflower with bread crumbles covered in browned butter, coleslaw that looks and tastes nothing like what you find in the South, sautéed cabbage with bacon, vinegar, caraway seeds, and black currents, browned mushrooms in a cream and horseradish sauce, and lots of cheese; cheese spreads; summer sausage; and crackers on the table before you even sit down for dinner. Also loaves of the most fresh out of the oven rye bread (dark and Jewish) a southern boy ever saw in one place at the same time, with lots of butter and a jam pot of elderberry jam on the table. If its the week of St Pat’s – brown bread is also added to the baskets.
Not a single southern style food to be found… No sweat tea either.

Keep in mind, if you had a single relative who served in the Civil war – that’s roughly a 6th generation ratio (1/32) which gets you a Sons of the Confederacy member, or in the Revolutionary war – that’s an 11th generation ratio (1/2048) for a DAR membership. Some tribes also do not have federal recognition status after terminating their rights during the 1830’s to prevent future relocations. Example, the Stockbridge and Brothertown Indians of Wisconsin do not meet 1 of the 7 requirements for federal recognition as reformation of the tribe. SO it doesn’t matter if you’re whole or 1/2048 Brothertown Indian, the government doesn’t recognize you as being a Native American.
