First it was Sandblastin’. Now, it’s Gun Grabbin’. This should just about do it…

“We’ve had aban on assault weapons before in the US, I think we should do it again…”
Keep on whistling Dude, shes done… Five point minimum defeat!
You forgot to mention the $13k tax increase.
New restrictions are only slippery slopes when they are conservative concerns.
I have a couple of problems with the Washington Times story on US immigration.
First, there’s the backing photo of Central Americans marching through Mexico, the clear implication being they’ll be in your home town soon so look out. At best, that’s misleading and inflammatory; at worst, it’s pandering to nativist fears.
Second, the story is sourced to the Center for Immigration Studies. CIS is a pretty sketchy group that has been accused by left and right of torturing data to fit their preconceived notions. They’re tight with Trump advisor Stephen Miller and other keep America white types. They’re awfully anxious about ‘birth tourism’. That tells me all I need to know about them.
Pew Research has never been accused of fudging their numbers. Here’s their recent look at immigration in America.

They are just a bunch of innocent moms and infants. https://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2018/11/caravan_migrants_different_more_violent_than_previous_migrant_groups_us_military.html
Plus 10000
Listen, I hope and pray that no one is violent and that the entirety of the migration situation is resolved without violence. And I’m not opposed to reasonable border protection at all, again with the caveat that there is no instigation of unnecessary violence.
But you gotta read the facts and beware the media spin. Per the article, the military commanders know very little about the people. Otherwise, assuming all the alleged reports are correct, there have been found two guns among the – what 8,000?- migrants, and those 2 guns didn’t even function properly. Then there were a few incidents with rocks and sticks.
Not nothing, but nothing to panic over, either.
Sure, protect the border. But it looks like shields and other crowd control methods may do the trick. I would say that the best crowd control method would be a contingent of immigration officials, attorneys, and judges to help process asylum applications.
The americanthinker article sources Breitbart Texas, and The Daily Mail. The Daily Mail excerpt says that somebody or other “believes” there’s bombs and guns in one of the caravans. No evidence, just belief. Not even sure who is doing the believing.
But to stoke fear or conspiracy, all you need is belief. In fact, without evidence, that’s all you’ll ever have. The “evidence” put forth in the article is, as mentioned, slim, and undoubtedly blown out of proportion.
Title to the American Thinker article:
Caravan migrants different, more violent, than previous migrant groups -U.S. military
Title to the Military Times article where they cherry picked a couple of their quotes:
Deployed border troops are preparing for militias stealing their gear, protester violence, documents show
And the first few lines of that article:
The 5,200 troops mobilizing to the U.S. southern border are headed there to deter a caravan of migrants, but some of the direct threats they are preparing for are homegrown, according to documents obtained by Military Times.
In those documents, the military is concerned about the already dangerous drug cartels that operate with impunity on both sides of the border, armed U.S. citizens taking the law into their own hands — or pilfering their gear — and far-right or far-left protesters inciting violence.
The troops aren’t allowed to gripe publicly about their orders but being a parent of one of the 5,200 families who have just had their Thanksgiving plans quashed for a political stunt, the spouses, kids, and parents are pissed. Actually it is more than the 5,200 as many left on their respective bases will have to cover for them now. Also it is for duties like building barriers that are outside of the core competencies of active duty personnel as well. These tasks are normally delegated to the Guard and Reserves.
I could go on with the loaded words and misleading statements used in the American Thinker article but then comparing their misdirection to a President who was quoted yesterday that he tries not to lie when he can it isn’t worth it. Those willing to believe him aren’t going to care about some choice word parsing on a “conservative” website.
You had me at Washington Times.
I ran across this article from The Hill where the head of Judicial Watch advocates that the US send troops to Guatemala ‘so that country can deploy its resources to its own southern border to interdict the caravans from its south’. I’m sure Guatemala would be happy to relive if only for a little while those days of government by United Fruit and civil war bolstered by US military support.
What a dim-witted scheme that only increases my disgust with JW, a “nonprofit educational foundation”.

https://www.wsbtv.com/news/local/kemp-unable-to-debate-as-scheduled-alternatives-being-considered/863845404
“After repeated efforts to schedule a debate on the issues that matter most to Georgia voters, radical Stacey Abrams decided she would rather hide behind television ads paid for by San Francisco socialists than face the voters and defend her extreme agenda that will raise taxes by $13,000 a person, give welfare and voting rights to illegal immigrants, and usher in the government takeover of healthcare. !”
Literally the first sentence: “Kemp pulled out of the original agreed upon date and time.”
So, overall, I don’t think the issue matters much substantively, but I think it is a reflection of terrible character for Kemp to drop out of the debate, then blame Abrams for not changing her schedule to accommodate his.
Maybe the debate happens Monday, but trying to reschedule something within the last few days of a campaign?
If Kemp wants to hang with Trump, fine, but he needs to own the consequences, not get deceptive and aggressive.
I have to say the “radical Stacey Abrams” bit is nearly comical. I got a flyer in the mail that had her picture, Nancy Pelosi, and Bernie Sanders on it and it made it sound like they were this cabal of baby eaters… but the picture of them all at the bottom made them look like very nice people. They seemed so happy. I think there’s a risk to trying too hard with the radical bit.
Also, this is a very strange thing to lie about. Why not just say he’d rather stump with Trump then have another debate? It’s probably strategically a good call as a debate won’t make him look any smarter.
Cause he is ahead and doesn’t need to give her a platform! Fairly simple.
They don’t believe in science and can’t do math. $13,000 a person x ten million is $130 billion. The state’s current budget (excluding federal contribution) is what, $25 billion? It’s why even listening is a waste of time.
