Now that’s political sign vandalism and against the law…. but it is funny.
vandalism of private property = crime. There should be no specific law elevating “political sign” vandalism to a higher offense. It could be fair game if the sign was illegally placed in the right of way.
It’s arguably a crime for placing “private property” campaign signs on public property/RoW.
Lots of specific State, County and City ordinances in Georgia that make placing signs in the ROW and on public property a crime, but of course, never enforced.
Just to make Georgia fans a little nervous, from 2009:
I’m already nervous despite Georgia having more ‘talent’. But given last week’s miracle at Missouri and this week’s pre-game hysteria, Kentucky is due for a letdown. At least that’s what I keep telling myself.
270 known criminals. https://www.dhs.gov/news/2018/11/01/myth-vs-fact-caravan
From that link:
Q: Will you allow the caravan to enter the United States?
A: We will not allow a large group of illegal migrants attempt to enter into the United States if they have no lawful right to gain entry.
Q: Will the caravan be allowed to seek asylum?
A: Our goal is to provide protection to those individuals who qualify for asylum under our laws. Individuals who want jobs or want to reunify with family members in the U.S. aren’t eligible to qualify for asylum.
Not sure what all the stress is about.
From your link:
“Q: Are there criminals in the caravan?
A: Yes – so far, there are over 270 individuals along the caravan route that have criminal histories, including known gang membership. ”
Curious why they are saying “along the caravan route” vs “in the caravan”? Sounds to me like they know about 270 people waving to the caravan as it passes. Since this is an official government site and not the president’s twitter account, they have to try to be more factual. I’m guessing that’s why this language was chosen.
This is part of the problem when the boss makes swampy policies and says swampy things. People who don’t want to lose their jobs say swampy things to defend the original swamp thing.
As of yesterday the caravan was on the outskirts of Juchitán de Zaragoza, Oaxaca, Mexico which means their progress was ~90 miles in a week but following the coast in a mostly western direction. Since their stated intention is to go to Mexico City along the way their proposed route is still more than 1,000 miles to the nearest border point, shaved to ~900 if they took a more direct route. But at the current rate that still gives a best case time frame of 10 weeks facing a US troop deployment on this side of a little more than half of that time. Again. this is a molehill being blown into a political mountain for the purposes of the midterm elections.
I know that the bureaucracy that serves at the will of the president wants to support his every word whether truthful or not but that page is parsing words nearly as bad as the right wing site you linked yesterday. This for example:
Q: Is the caravan only women and children?
A: No, reports on the ground from our foreign partners suggest that approximately 50 percent are single adults. However, the Guatemalan Intel Minister said that the caravan is employing tactics to push women and children to the front to act as human shields as the caravan pushes against its military forces.
Note that “approximately 50 percent are single adults” implying but not specifically stating those are adult males just to enhance the scary prospects of this group. But the unnamed “Guatemalan Intel Minister” still confirms that they sure are skerrrry anyway.
Unfortunately for him, once you’ve seen his name as Fartenberry it is impossible not to say to Fartenberry in your head when you see his name.
“Strong families, Strong communities, Strong Odor.”
Who’s his opponent, I.P. Daily?
https://chamblee54.wordpress.com/2018/11/02/brian-and-stacey/ It is time for the Chamblee54 report on the Governor’s race. This is the election that puts race back into the race. If you get tired of the text, you can look at the pictures.
The scary part is a campaign office vehemently accusing the entire University policy as condoning comments on “political vandalism” and elevating this to a high crime against the state. Allegedly the professor “liked” the photo (since there is no that’s f’n hilarious option) using their .edu account. This attitude ties in to other posts listed today where politics becomes weaponized against people.
Incivility aside, it’s getting harder and harder to talk with people that purposely seek to undermine communication.
“U.S. diplomats may soon be prohibited from using the phrases “sexual and reproductive health” and “comprehensive sexuality education” under a proposal being floated to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, four people familiar with the issue said.”

A not so bright professor. How many of us would do so using employer-connected social media?

I guess if the R’s can try to prevent Native Americans from voting in N.D., the Dems feel like scaring a few hunters is fair game too.
From that left wing rag USA TODAY:
How a lie about George Soros and the migrant caravan multiplied online
USA TODAY followed the rapid spread of a social media conspiracy theory about George Soros and migrants that grew from obscurity to the political mainstream.

Did you watch it? If so what were your thoughts? I dont use FB.
I have it on the DVR. I was working late most of this week.
That USA Today story was so troubling and fascinating. Because it’s clear that the origin of these theories don’t start with facts or evidence– this one seems to begin and get propagated by anti-Semites. But then because ppl believe everything they see on Twitter, I guess, the crazy is given “legitimacy” by folks like Coulter and others who may not research the facts, and don’t care abt the facts. And folks get convinced that it must be true because why would someone like Ann Coulter lie or make stuff up? Then, no fact-checking matters anyways, because anything to the contrary is labelled “fake”.
And the entirety of the allegedly not-fake-at-all “news” is just re-tweeted anti-Semitic conspiracy theory crazy.
This is Bizzarro World crazy.
As a diversion from politics…have any of you ever played the game Cities Skylines? It has given me a new and undying appreciation of city planners and everything they have to deal with and anticipate. I have been working on my city for like a month. You have to solve problems like traffic, enough clean water, sewage treatment, whether to build more industry…low density or high density. Will the residents like it or complain about noise (or die because you screwed up and put a water intake downstream of the sewage treatment plant). If you havent played…it really is fun, and educational. Like I said…whole new respect for city planners.
I named my city Scottlanta…if interested…lol
I have friends who play. It is too close to what I do in my real life to interest me.
…for which I bow before you in humility. What you do has got to be taxing on ones patience, and I dont think people really appreciate what goes into it either.
I’m the Director of building/code/zoning/regulation reading, fire marshal whispering, architectural fairy dust supply, you want what? WHEN?, magical estimating busting, and your paying for this how… What the Frick? I already said NO, Yes I meant it. and “I told you so”.
Some on has to do it.
Reminds me of SimCity. Although that was prob a lot simpler.
Here it is (an older version) of my city
dont know why they wont play for me…but if you click the “Youtube” at lower right they will play on Youtube site
There are many people in many areas of government that earn respect after review of the challenges and details. We call them experts. The GOP call them elitists.
Add this to your reading list. Written by Tom when he was still a republican. He left the party over the summer, but is still a conservative. It’s a good read.

Well, 2 for 3 at least…you’re getting better
In regards to the Coulter article and the President’s rash statements feeding his “base” on birthright citizenship, I have to ask. What happened to the “strict constitutionalist” conservatives? If you don’t like an amendment then you should go the constitutional route of creating a cancelling amendment much like the 21st did to the 18th to kill off prohibition.
They’re the Constitutional version of a fiscal conservative.
Need to set those wage increases aside so that we can leave a larger nest egg to our children and grandchildren so they can pay back the money we borrowed to get it.
Speaking of the migrant caravan and “unpresidented” truthfulness, and/or lack thereof:
Trump defends military presence on border and says ‘I do try’ to tell the truth
https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/wall-people-trump-defends-military-presence-border/story
President Donald Trump said that the increased military presence on the border is going to help stop what he called the “invasion” that is coming in the migrant caravan and said that he “always likes to be truthful.”
“We have to have a wall of people,” Trump said, shortly after it was announced that he plans to send 10,000 to 15,000 troops to the border.
In an exclusive interview with ABC Chief White House Correspondent Jonathan Karl, Trump also said that he strives to tell the truth.
“Well, I try. I do try … and I always want to tell the truth. When I can, I tell the truth. And sometimes it turns out to be where something happens that’s different or there’s a change, but I always like to be truthful,” Trump said.
This next part is laugh out loud funny if you remember the lies told about the inauguration “crowd”:
One of the issues he has with the reporting of the migrant caravan is that he believes the crowd estimates are wrong, based off his own estimates.
“You have caravans coming up that look a lot larger than it’s reported actually. I’m pretty good at estimating crowd size. And I’ll tell you they look a lot bigger than people would think,” Trump said.
“You have caravans coming up that look a lot larger than it’s reported actually. I’m pretty good at estimating crowd size.” Beside his inauguration, the election, he nailed the size of the crowd of Muslims celebrating 9/11 in NJ.

Trump just blew the roof off of the rally in wVa!!! DD asked for a story or some relevant reason for my posting this stuff. The W Va gov just changed to Repub Party!! Such is the persuasion of Trump! That’s relevant! On to Indiana in a few minutes!!
For ‘just changed’, read ‘back in August 2017’. Now that’s relevant.
Yeah, he fortuitously did it at a Trump rally there, just a couple of months ago.
I hope y’all are watching Trump on CSPAN right now. He’s killing it!
Laughing as hard as the did at the UN, or when he said he’s a great judge of crowd size, are they?
Yeah, he should be a professional campaigner.
Oh, wait…
From Fox’s Shannon Bream. Another Kav accuser refered for not telling truth regarding allegations of improper behavior by Kav. This cannot be good news for the Dems.

Believe all women!
More from Grassley’s referral letter to DOJ…My point for the post is that some sides will stop at nothing, it seems…
“Under questioning by Committee investigators, Ms. Munro-Leighton admitted, contrary to her prior claims, that she had not been sexually assaulted by … Kavanaugh and was not the author of the original ‘Jane Doe’ letter,” Grassley’s office wrote in a Friday referral to the DOJ.
“When directly asked by Committee investigators if she was, as she had claimed, the ‘Jane Doe’ from Oceanside California who had sent the letter to Senator Harris, she admitted: ‘No, no, no. I did that as a way to grab attention. I am not Jane Doe . . . but I did read Jane Doe’s letter. I read the transcript of the call to your Committee. . . . I saw it online. It was news.”
“In short, during the Committee’s time-sensitive investigation of allegations against Judge Kavanaugh, Ms. Munro-Leighton submitted a fabricated allegation, which diverted Committee resources. When questioned by Committee investigators she admitted it was false, a ‘ploy,’ and a ‘tactic,’” Grassley’s office wrote. “She was opposed to Judge Kavanaugh’s confirmation.”
Good Lord….
Hey Noway! I’ve been out of town the last week, just now dropping by to see what’s up on here. Sad to say it looks like the same clique of far-leftists are holding forth, with only you and a couple of other folks doing any center or right leaning posts.
I heard a comment down on the Georgia coast that this year’s elections are a choice between Americanism or Socialism, globalist or nationalist. I guess we’ll see which folks choose on Tuesday.
Are you able to be here Tuesday night?
I’m going to try to be here, if I don’t go to the election night gathering for you-know-who. 🙂
Thumbs Up!!
Regarding my linked story that I hope you just read. Trump BBQed her, and rightfully so, at the MT rally earlier today. Lady lied. To destroy Kav. His reputation. His life. I hope she’s convicted and goes to jail.
Hi Sally… FYI (and yes it is just an FYI), if you have not read Wednesday’s Morning Reads opening post, may explain why some of are ‘missing’ in action.
Sherrif The Deep Dark has been at work.
It was a beautiful day today. He may’ve been on the golf course.
Undoubtedly on the course with His Posse!!
Thanks Ellynn, will do. From the looks of things here, Sheriff DD must play for the liberal team. 🙂 ‘Hope maybe he can be a switch hitter.
The sheriff didn’t play partisan. Note it leaves me as your only day to “most” days female annoyance. By the way, why does your emoji have arms and legs? We are also short on a medical opinion.
Gotta have ’em to hang onto my horse and sword, while I sally forth into political discussions!
Sally, don’t ever assume you know anything about me.
I don’t care what side someone is on. Both sides on here are basically hypocritical whiners when it comes to what they and others say.
Ellynn, Sheriff’s are to keep the peace. There is no peace here. I’m here to make the grass grow.
Farmer DD?
Is this what you are referring to Noway? The Senate Judiciary committee found ZERO evidence that Kavanagh was guilty of anything and no evidence to corroborate Ford’s claims. 2 other women already admit they were making it up. Does this confirm that the Senate confirmation hearings were nothing more that a set up and character assassination of someone folks disagree with politically?
That is what this says to me.
https://dailycaller.com/2018/11/04/senate-judiciary-kavanaugh-report/
Trump in MT and FL today.
Yep, the Man is amazing with all the campaigning he’s doing, literally from one side of the country to the other, trying to help fellow Republicans in the mid-year elections. Speaking of which, are you going to Macon tomorrow afternoon?
Not going, Sally, but will watch online!
Same here. Did you see that long line of folks shown on noon news?! A lot had been there overnight, looked like a UGA tailgate with all that red. MAGA nation turning out, energized to vote for Kemp in spite of all the media can do trying to tank his campaign.
I’m sure! Just like they’ll be overnight to vote Monday night, too! And they’ve been suppressing for two years. All day. Every single story. But…it ain’t gonna work! Tuesday is gonna be a Red Explosion!! MAGA!
Remember what I asked of you earlier?
About did I understand not to hurl insults and inflammatory statements? I said I did.
Master of being deliberately obtuse,
“…Unless you are adding that it is a policy speech, and can enumerate what policies will we talked about, please refrain from posting these types of comments…” –TDD
“I understand.” — Noway2016
Go back to our exchange in the Morning Reads on the 29th that WD pretty much summed up. Read it again. Explain to me what was unclear about it.
“Unless you are adding that it is a policy speech, and can enumerate what policies will (be) we talked about…”
DD, Trump’s rallies are, most assuredly, ‘policy speeches’. They outline current economic data of economic growth, the unemployment rates, increases in military spending, just to name a few.
So, if I highlight one of today’s rallies, I’ll be sure and cite that Trump will talk about the unemployment numbers for Women, Latinos and Blacks and how they have all shrunk under his leadership. Just as a start.
I ask a favor before I get a week’s timeout. If you do not want me talking about my support of Trump, just say so. And I won’t. Thanks…
It’s not about your support… it’s about your posting about where the rallies will be, with no context whatsoever. Unless he is speaking about something specific, and you have information regarding that, no one wants to hear it.
If you post about a rally, and have not seen it yet, it won’t just be for a week.
Weatherbell just updated their winter forecast and this is their percentage of normal snowfall expected

Final predictions:
Kemp v Abrams?
How many seats do Repubs pick up in senate?
Do Repubs keep House?
Mine: Kemp by 5; Repubs gain 5 seats; Repubs keep House.
From your lips to God’s ears.
For my buds Sally, Raleigh, Silver, DTM, Eiger and to all other conservatives. This is the LINE fot TGM’s Macon rally! You’re welcome!!
https://mobile.twitter.com/RSBNetwork/status/1059138871039008769
No doubt there will be a good estimate of the crowd size from your leader. since he’s” “pretty good at estimating crowd size.”
Woo Hoo! Look at that crowd, line goes on forever! Thanks, Noway.
BTW you guys, it’s also going to be on C-SPAN at 4:00. (for any purists)
Just turned it on!!!!!!
It’s also on FOX!! Better picture!
Oops, back to C-SPAN!
Yep!!
He’s only been speaking for 10 minutes and the crowd is nuclear!!!!!! Holy Smokes!!
Deep Dark: Andrew’s comment in an attempt to just antagonize!! Adds nothing and bad language. Can he get a warning???
And that right there, is the FIRST time I have EVER appealed to the moderator to reign in someone’s viciousness!!!! Unlike posters from the other side!!!!!!
And I suppose you speak for everyone else who reads GaPol…. Whom I’m sure find your bitter vitriolic posts pleasant reading…..
Actually, I agree with him on this. A play by play of people sitting in their chairs watching a rally is pretty… lame.
At the same time we confine ACP & Co’s rageaholic circle jerk to a private thread, I presume?
Ahhhhh, we don’t worry about them, Sally. They really don’t have much else but insults.
Sally. You know what ‘Ol Noway is gonna do after this Macon speech?! I’m heading to get me a bucket of Original Recipe and wait for Our President’s Chattanooga Rally!! Lordy, Lordy, Lordy!!!!
Enjoy!
Sally,
Actually what has been stipulated by DD is that comments that add nothing to a (semi?) intelligent political discourse shouldn’t be made. If you had bothered to read the comments, which admittedly, can be mostly a waste of time, 3 warnings were given and 2 did not respond accordingly, one from each “side”. Noway was warned that his inane cheerleading for the Trump rallies, which include nothing about the subject matter only Woot! Woot! He’s a God! crap, would not be acceptable. Yet here he is again, with real things we could talk about (Kemp, Abrams, Saudis behaving badly and therefore punishing Iran…), but no, he is calling on the moderator even though he is doing the very thing he acknowledged that he would not do. And you are just joining in on the insanity simply because you view this as right v. left, instead of right v. wrong if the comments section is going to go back to being readable again.
Thanks for the elaboration, Will. As I posted earlier, I was out of town all week and wasn’t here for whatever discussion went on. I just dropped by, thought it was a slow Sunday afternoon, and nobody was posting on here but Noway – and it’d be okay for us to banter about today’s truly unique event.
I’m a native Georgian and this was the first time in my life I can recall a sitting president coming in to meet for free, rally with thousands of everyday Georgians. All they usually do while in office is come to Georgia to raise money for their war chest, then fly back to DC on A/F 1 with millions of dollars from high ticket exclusive events. No matter whether Democrat, Republican, or Independent, today was a special, historic day for Georgia.
Thanks ACP. I included Obama in my thoughts, remembered a couple of public visits he did before election. I bolded the word “sitting.” Perusing the article, the 2007 and 2008 visits were when campaigning for election 11/08, not while sitting prez. After elected, his trips to GA were generally smaller, programmed functions, not open to the public, and good excuses for high ticket, non-public fundraisers before or afterward.
He followed the 16-year pattern of Bush and Clinton as modern-day presidents who mostly just Hoovered from Georgia. Seeing 30,000+ ordinary citizens who didn’t pay a penny to attend, and a sitting president who came just to see them was uniquely remarkable to me as a Georgia political observer.
W came to Statesboro for Max Burns in 2006, and then Perry for Collins. Statesboro drew about 5000, don’t have the numbers for Perry, but it was similar.
Perry info: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/10/31/AR2006103100203.html?noredirect=on
Was it a public event and no fundraiser attached? And how many people did he speak to?
Updated my comment to include number.
I’m glad to learn that he did that for Georgia Congressmen, and those are good numbers for a Congressional District! I’ve heard Bush speak in person and was impressed with his humor and intelligence –contrary to what I’d read in the AJC and seen on TV about him.
It’s odd that you didn’t remember those. They were a pretty big deal in 2006. A sitting POTUS spending two days in a single state right before a huge midterm election. Its almost unheard of… I mean, they usually just fly in and fly out, right?
Yep — except for the private big dollar fundraising events they usually do. I don’t know why I didn’t remember that, must have been out of state on assignment that week.
Or maybe it didn’t fit the narrative of a “historic day”…
I’m pretty sure 30,000+ people turning out to welcome a sitting president to good old Macon, Georgia, made history today. I’m going to bed feeling good about that – and proud of our state! Goodnight, Buddy.
On this side of the state, add Bush SR, 91 Ft Steward, 92 on River Street, Savannah, W Bush, 2 times at Ft Steward (one military families or on base civilians only), one open, the end of the G8 presser on Hutchison Island (open to about 100 locals with the international press who pre-ordered tickets), Obama, at Ft. Steward with Michelle, also at Savannah Tech, (then went on a unplanned tour of the city, stopping at Mrs. Wilkes for lunch with 60 inspecting diners -also meet with state & local types on harbor funding).
None of these were fundraises and opened to the public (with tickets) or limited to military families.
Both public events.
Looks more like a last-minute attempt by his opponents to prove it could be done. But it backfired on them.
