We are one week out from the most wonderful time of the year, also known as the Legislative Session. I know, we don’t all share my general enthusiasm on this particular subject, but y’all let me have this, ok?
- Judicial Qualifications Commission suspends Superior Court Judge Robert ‘Mac’ Crawford, but there are two sides to every story.
- This burglar was INCREDIBLY polite and even wrote a thank you note to the home owners for the key and the home he decided was now his. I mean, honestly, sometimes I wish my kids would just leave a little note saying “thanks for buying milk for the cereal.” I wonder if he would teach a class….
- It doesn’t look like the Government Shutdown is going away any time soon.
- The Georgia Port is on track for a record year! Team Georgia for the win, once again.
- According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, Atlanta is one of this year’s best cities for new jobs. The unemployment rate is at an 18 year-low at 3.7%.
- Twitter wars are some of my favorite forms of entertainment. Especially when they are political. Steve Scalise and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez did not disappoint.
- Georgia continues to lead the way in the film industry and Columbus is taking the reigns with both screen writing, direction, and filming.
- Speaking of Columbus, tomorrow morning at 10, the city will officially be under new leadership. (Also, if you don’t read Monday Mail by Tim Chitwood, you’re missing out.)
- Interstate 14 may not happen in the near future, but advocates are pushing for more discussion and Augusta wants a seat at the table.
- The Golden Globe Awards were last night. I didn’t watch, but here are the nominees and winners if you are interested.
