This morning, Governor Kemp will deliver his first State of the State address before a joint session of the Georgia General Assembly. The address is scheduled for 11am. You can watch the speech live, by following this link.
Governor Kemp gave a little insight into his policy agenda that will be included as part of this address. He will release his budget plan today, and is calling for a “historic” pay raise for teachers. Due to current budget conditions (and that much of this year’s revenue growth was pulled ahead for last year’s full funding of QBE), it is expected that this raise will be phased in over a couple of years.
Additional items will include new funds to set up a gang task force within the GBI. Governor Kemp said yesterday that this budget amount would be roughly $500,000 per year.
It is also widely expected that an application for Medicaid waivers will be discussed.
Tune in at 11am for a little bit of pageantry and a bit more of policy specifics.
