Governor Kemp proposed a $27.5 Billion budget yesterday for FY 2020, a $1.3 Billion increase from FY 2019. Teachers are proposed to get $3,000, other state employees 2%, $1 Million to form a structure for Medicaid waiver request, and a half million for a GBI gang task force.

Kyle Merro is officially the new President of Georgia Southern University (the other GSU). The move creates an opening at the University of West Georgia. This leaves the University System of Georgia still with two open Presidencies to fill, with the Georgia Tech position to be available this summer.

Despite being about 9 years into economic recovery/expansion, Macon-Bibb officials are still trying to figure out how to pay for services without furloughing employees.

A Columbus man convicted of rape and murder and sentenced to death when I was in the third grade will get a new trial because DNA evidence may exonerate him. Also the judge ruled that there was “systematic race discrimination” by picking an all white jury. Complicating matters is his video taped confession, fingerprints at the murder scene, an eyewitness, and that the crime occurred over 40 years ago. The case will now go to Georgia’s Supreme Court.

The service is fast, but still slow and attentive enough to be properly southern. I can’t recall having anything here I didn’t like, so if it looks good on the menu, give it a try. But not on Mondays.
