Current GAGOP 2nd Vice Chair Debbie McCord announced earlier that she was not seeking reelection, so that leaves an open seat going into the 2019 Georgia Republican Convention cycle. With about a week away until the over-80,000 county precinct mass meetings, two gentlemen have toss their proverbial hats into the ring: former Georgia YR Chairman Robert Lee and current Coweta GOP Chairman Brant Frost (the Fifth…although, the Fourth seems to come along with the package if you’ve been an observer of Georgia Republican politics for any length of time).
From Robert Lee’s Facebook announcement:
Today, I am excited to announce that I will be running for the position of 2nd Vice Chairman of the Georgia Republican Party.
2018 was a hard year for Republicans in Georgia. Although we gained three seats in rural parts of the state, we lost fourteen seats in Metro Atlanta, especially in areas that once served as critical parts of our conservative coalition. I believe we can do better, and we must. We cannot wait any longer to usher in the next era of Republican leadership in our State. The next 2nd Vice Chairman has a responsibility to contribute to that strong vision for our party.
As a business owner, I know what prosperity means for Georgia’s workers and families. As a young entrepreneur, I understand better than others the difficulties and opportunities we face. Most importantly, as a leader in the Republican Party, I helped grow our organization across the State and win elections that mattered to our Republican majority. I firmly believe that I can offer a unique choice for the grassroots, and I believe I can offer them better service in this position.
As I campaign for the next four months, we will have plenty of opportunities to discuss my vision of what we can accomplish together. In the meantime, please visit my website at rwlee2.com for more information or call me directly on my cell.
I look forward to speaking to you soon, and I am counting on your support.
My Fellow Republicans,
I am running for Second Vice-Chair of the Georgia Republican Party and would be honored to have your support.
First of all, I want to thank our retiring Vice-Chair Debbie McCord for her service and wish her all the best in her future endeavors.
As a conservative activist, I have dedicated my entire adult life to Making the Grassroots Great Again.
Over the past 10 years, I have attended 27 Republican mass meetings and conventions representing my Precinct and my County.
It has been my honor to serve for the past six years as Chairman of the Coweta County Republican Party and State Committeeman for the Third Congressional District.
As Vice-Chair I will set a goal over the next two years to achieve the following:
- Streamlining and modernizing our conventions with electronic voting.
- Creating a social media task force that will volunteer to build or update websites and Facebook pages for every county and district party.
- Assist county and district parties in using digital advertising and targeted phone banking for voter outreach to grow attendance at our meetings and conventions.
There is so much more that needs to be done, but this is a good start!
Even though our campaign is less than one week old, we have already been endorsed by over 25 county party chairs representing nearly 500 delegates to the state conventions.
I am also deeply grateful to have the support of Former GAGOP Chair Sue Everett. (sic)
“In my years as State Party Chair, I worked hard to bring young people into the GOP so the next generation would be prepared to lead when the time came. That time is now, and Brant Frost is that young leader. He has faithfully served the Republican Party, and I am so excited to support him for 2nd vice-chair.” – Sue Everhart, Chair of the Georgia Republican Party (2007-2013)
Now, I need you to join with Sue and support our effort to Make the Grassroots Great Again.
So, there you have it. Two candidates with two different records: one who has proven to build a brand and garnered national recognition for the organization he led, and one who is trying to grift President Trump’s popularity with a lazy, uncreative tagline in hopes to propel himself (and his family) into prominence in the GAGOP.
This will be fun. Stay tuned!
