Karen Handel: I’m Running
Karen Handel has tweeted that she’s a candidate for Congress, and included a video launching her 2020 campaign for Georgia’s 6th District.
It’s official: Karen just announced her campaign for 2020. Join the team and help us take back Georgia 6th district now! https://t.co/62i0EHAZQl #ga06 #gapol— Karen Handel (@karenhandel) March 25, 2019

Karen’s doing that thing again where she pretends she’s running against Obama or Pelosi or anyone but the person she’s actually running against.
It’s absolutely shocking to me that after so much time in public life her default messaging is always about how bad other people are and a bunch of vague pablum about “conservative values.”
Gross
For someone that peddles their wares on someone else’s page without adding much to the conversations I think you should either add context to your future comments or understand that your future posts of your own site will go straight to the trash.
Let’s try that again without you linking to your site…
As the uncertain umpire said, fair enough.
Karen Handel needs to get a real job. Maybe the Komen foundation will take her back.
There are a lot of rude things, both personal and political, that I can say about Karen Handel. The prospect of another election with her is disheartening.
The word gross is short, easy to read, and widely understood. It describes my feelings about another campaign with Karen Handel, without annoying details.
In the spirit of saying something good about somebody, I should add that Mrs. Handel had the best line of the 2017 GA06 race. Her opponent interrupted her, starting out by saying
“With all due respect.” Mrs. Handel replied, ” With all due respect do not interrupt me.”

Good Luck Karen.
Maybe I’m wrong but it was like Karen Handel was absent during her last race. She should have easily beaten Lucy McBath but she seemed detached and not really engaged in the race. I questioned if she really wanted to win. Now for disclosure I’m not in the 6th and I watched the race but not too closely… Thoughts?
So, to quote you “I don’t live in the district. I didn’t receive any of the candidates mail or robo calls. I didn’t get my door knocked on because I don’t live in the 6th district. But I feel the need to opine anyway. Forget that Karen lost along with a number of state house and senate seats. They were absent candidates as well.”
Interesting, rather that explain where I might be WRONG you think because I DON’T live in the 6th district my “opine” should be ridiculed. Now restating the obvious NO I didn’t get my door knocked on, nor e-mails, or robocalls (Thanks GOD) but neither did I get those from Lucy McBath. Handel still lost. Did I get your sarcastic message correct?
You literally said, “Now for disclosure I’m not in the 6th and I watched the race but not too closely… Thoughts?”
So yes. I gave you my sarcastic thoughts.
If you continue to qualify your opining with “I don’t know but I’ll say this anyway” statements. I’ll continue to be sarcastic.
Also, I live in the 6th. So I may know more than someone who doesn’t live in the 6th.
Wait, so Raleigh doesn’t live in the 6th and didn’t get calls, door knocks, emails, etc. from either Handel or McBath. Not everyone can be Jon Ossof, I guess.
Now that IS funny…
Well my apologies then. Next time when I ask for thoughts I’ll qualify it with “share well thought out constructive thoughts but childish sarcastic thoughts can be shared with people who think it adds value, like your mirror and yourself. Since you live in the 6th it might have been educational for a perspective on the effectiveness of the candidates robocalls, e-mails, and mailers since I didn’t see any of that. All I was subjected to was tv and radio ads. I think Handel didn’t do very well with those and I think her opponent did better. If that was my impression do you think at least some voters in the 6th might thought the same. I would have still voted for Handel and against Ossof and McBath If I had lived in the 6th. Maybe I better check and be sure I didn’t vote Democratic in the 6th because I’m not dead yet… Oh BTW that’s a joke…
As a Democrat who wants the incumbent to prevail in 2020, this is good news to me.
A career politicians on the outs and no where else to go, we can expect a personal best by her serving a full term to make it two full terms in a row.
I was surprised that Handel lost in the mid-terms. I still believe her lost was a backlash to Trump’s scorched earth strategy. This is Republican district but these voters don’t breathe fire and chant in unison. She could win again but the question is can she get out of the primary where Trumpism might trump everything.
I agree McBath’s win was something of surprise, but I don’t know that the district can even be called leans Republican anymore. The reason Handel eked out a less than 52-48 victory was because it was a special election and the Republican portion of the district turned out in greater numbers than the Ossoff part of the district.

This is the last election before the census. The district lines will be redrawn, and there is no telling what will happen. I am in a different district every ten years.
I’m pretty sure every Mayor in the sixth is a Republican. Pretty good indication of how the district leans.
I guess she’s trying to clear the field. Any generic country club Republican that isn’t afraid to disparage Trump when he says caustic things (as Johnny has done) should be able to win this seat by 10 points.
Handel isn’t that candidate. McBath is the Karen Handel of Democrats so she’s not going to hold this seat either. This seat is effectively an open house seat.
John Ernst (Brookhaven mayor) should run as a Democrat. Matt Dollar should finally take the step up and run as the Republican. Now THAT would be a good race. Both boring pragmatic moderates, which pretty much sums up the 6th district.
