It’s another great day in Georgia! Alyssa ( and you other Hollywood leftists) this bud’s for you! ( although it’s actually gonna be a Savannah River or Riverwatch brew)
Site moderators – – how do comments like these above from “alpha male” contribute substantively to legitimate discussions of Georgia news and politics?
Just ignore him. He’s salty because Chris Wray is blowing up the “Obama illegally spied on Trump” narrative.
Lol, Leftist fascism in full display again with Michael. Ummm, lessee here Mikeypoo. Georgia news and politics. Wellllll, maybe you missed it,but just today, our esteemed Governor ( no, it’s not Stacy Abrams, but don’t tell her and burst her balloon) signed “ the heartbeat bill” . That is ,in Georgia news and politics, to quote an old guy now running for potus, an effing big deal.
And guess what big guy. Even if you leftists keep squealing like stuck pigs and running to site moderators to make sure every single non leftist is barred from the site , you will never shut us up. There are more of us in Georgia than there are of you. It’s not our fault you folks are so uninformed and fact averse .
So I will say it again only louder. Thank you Governor Kemp for signing the heartbeat bill!
Hate to burst your balloon, but the “heartbeat bill” won’t actually do anything.
Here’s how it’s going to go down….
Someone is gonna file a lawsuit. As part of the lawsuit they’re going to ask for a preliminary injunction blocking the law from going into effect. The preliminary injunction is going to be granted because there’s well-established case law saying a PI is appropriate in abortion rights cases. The case will proceed to litigation. Motions will be filed. Time will pass. The law will not go into effect.
Eventually, the District Court will rule that the law is unconstitutional because it blatantly violates Roe‘s proscription of regulation of abortion prior to fetal viability. Then the case will be appealed to the Eleventh Circuit, More time will pass. Nothing will have changed with respect to abortion access in Georgia.
After some time, the Eleventh Circuit will affirm the District Court’s decision because, and I can’t stress this enough, the law is blatantly unconstitutional. The State will appeal again, this time to the Supreme Court.
There’s no point in debating anything I’ve said prior to this point. Every legislator who voted on this thing did so knowing it would be declared unconstitutional in the District Court and at the Eleventh Circuit. These bodies are bound by the precedent set in Roe. The “hope” for this bill is that the Supreme Court will grant cert and use this as an opportunity to strike down Roe. That only comes after wasting millions of dollars on litigation and appeals. That only comes after a couple of years winding its way up the ladder. And it relies on two very faulty assumptions.
First, we don’t know what the Court is going to look like in 2021 or 2022. Two, there’s no guarantee the Court grants cert. We just saw them reject two abortion cases last year which would have stripped PP of Medicaid funding. In February, C.J. Roberts sided with the “liberal” justices on a Louisiana admitting privileges law that would have left the state with just one abortion provider. He’s publicly expressed his concern about the legitimacy of the Court and its public perception… I’m not that confident he’s going to want to take on a case that would requiring shredding any semblance of judicial non-partisanship in order to dispense of Roe.
Your original comment didn’t have any reference to the news that you were happy about. Alyssa Milano reference was unspecific. Just include the reference in the comment and it may not seem so unsubstantial.
Let it go. It’s much better to know the mind of the GOP base.
Hey Republicans, here are some new ideas to suppress the vote:
– Hinder people from assisting elderly voters
– Make it a felony to cast a ballot if the SoS hasn’t processed your registration yet
– Make it against the law to “impede” a walkway within 1000 ft (3+ football fields, almost a 1/4 of a mile!) of a polling place

Stollen making begins Thanksgiving weekend with my mothers side of the family. The standard add mix is dried black currents and cherries soaked; in brandy and walnuts. A few have finely chopped candied ginger. I make one with dried cherries, chopped espresso beans, almonds and 80% dark chocolate, plus lots of bourbon…
And, this language error is not without precedent. I’m old enough to remember when John F. Kennedy, President of the United States, proclaimed “Ich bin ein Berliner”, effectively announcing to the world that he was a “jelly doughnut”.
If we are going to go with ‘German’ donuts, I’m more of a Perishing type then a jelly filled (which are not technically German but are made in Midwest German style bakeries… go figure.),
Our world is truly insane. CNN Contributor Christine Quinn: “When a woman is pregnant, that is not a human being inside of her.”
Of course this law is a run to eventually overturn Roe v Wade. Has the nation’s societal tolerance for abortion lessened since 1973?
The SC will ultimately decide again.
Yeah, we need definitive information from the cult leader!
“The governor stated that he would even allow a newborn baby to come out into the world, and wrap the baby, and make the baby comfortable, and then talk to the mother and talk to the father and then execute the baby. Execute the baby!” — Donald J. Trump
