Governor Brian Kemp this afternoon issued a letter asking indicted Insurance Commissioner Jim Beck to resign. Beck surrendered to authorities and plead not guilty today to charges of mail fraud, wire fraud, and money laundering.
The U.S. Attorney charging Beck is BJ Pak, a former Republican State Representative from Gwinnett County. Governor Kemp asking for the resignation is also a Republican. Beck, a Republican, is finding that the charges against him are not red or blue, but he may end up in orange.
