One of the dilemmas to consider when Republicans are quiet about, or much worse, explaining away Trump’s serial appeals to division and racism, is whether they’re insulting your intelligence or their own.
One other thing to consider: Knowing Trump’s hero is Roy Cohn, and knowing the nature of his relationship with Michael Cohen, and Epstein, and Roger Stone, and how those guys operate, it would not be surprising if team trump actually has dirt, or kompromat if you will, on some, maybe many, people.
scratching my head What “appeals to division and racism” are you talking about? All I hear/read actually from POTUS is “America First!” The media propagandists spout accusations, but I cannot find any such appeals. Can you give us some facts? Not speculation or opinion – facts with sources.
Congratulations on the two-fer response..
Facts? Sources? Give him time. He may need to check with Erica Thomas for such.
Or maybe Jussie Smollett….
So we didn’t have 3% growth in 2018. Wonder if the President will revise his stump speech on that?

So you think facts and the truth matter to DJT and his worshippers?
“We’ve got to get rid of the $19 trillion in debt. Well, I would say over a period of eight years.” DJT
The debt will be nearly a trillion this year so we need only reduce spending by $4 trillion a year to eliminate it.
Hauer also starred in Ladyhawke with Michelle Pfeiffer as cursed lovers in medieval Europe. He was a wolf by night, she a hawk by day.
Probably excelled as an actor in that one even more than Blade Runner. Though the scene I was most appreciative of him in was in a semi-thriller B movie with him putting a grenade in Gene Simmons’ mouth and pulling the pin.
Has Reffensperger picked ES&S for the new voting machines yet? Need to get on the stick. Time’s a wastin’.
Procrastinating on the obfuscating?

DIA estimates North Korea has produced 12 nuclear weapons since the 1st Trump-Kim summit. Oh, and they’re testing short range weapons systems again.
Lol.
Another one bites the dust. GOP Congresswoman Martha Roby, AL-2, is calling it quits only a month after Indiana’s GOP Congresswoman Susan Brooks did so. The GOP’s diminutive 13-woman caucus is well on its way to being even smaller.
https://www.cnn.com/2019/07/26/politics/martha-roby-leaving-congress/index.html
Roby flipped the ruby district in 2010 from a popular Democrat that had narrowly won the open seat in 2008, eking out a 51-49 victory. She easily won re-election in 2012 and 2014. Her downfall began in 2016 when she had the audacity to announce in 2016 October after the Access Hollywood tape became public that she wouldn’t support Trump. Trump won the district 65-33, but Roby was re-elected 49-41, the rest being write-ins.
Roby got on board with Trump after that, because that’s what they do. But Trumpers didn’t forget. She only received 39% of the four-way primary vote in 2018 though, winning the runoff against a party switcher before coasting in the general . I guess she quickly got her fill of Trumper primary opposition.
A vote for the GOP is a vote for Trump, since none dare cross him. For those keeping score, that’s three Republican Reps calling it quits in three days. We’ll see how many more decide they can’t stomach Trumper primary opposition after a long recess, though none are going to admit to it.

“Comparing these projections with the previous year’s USDA projections, which were made before U.S.–China trade tensions began, provides an indication of how China’s tariff might affect soybean trade in the future. The USDA projections show that China’s soybean imports would resume growing, but the volume of future soybean trade would be less than previously projected.”
One of the things alien to a dimwit like Trump is that when trading and logistics change in response to changes in circumstances, they don’t necessarily snap back when the circumstances return to what they were, and in some cases never recover. H.L. Mencken said “Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want, and deserve to get it good and hard,” but pity farmers anyway.
Case in point, east coast ports, Savannah in particular, got a large bump in traffic due to west coast port strikes in 2014. Some of that traffic never went back and it arguably catalyzed continuing east coast port traffic growth (the larger Panama Canal being another catalyst).
MAGA in action. “We need to get rid of those Washington USDA employees to change the narrative.” Sonny Perdue [snark]
